The IM Fone is compatible with two services at this point of time, imtel and Skype. The IM fone allows you to use your cell phone and its contacts as usual, the difference being that you are not actually using the cell phone service network but rather the internet to make and recieve these calls. The best part is that even if you are using the Skype service to make an international call, it is your cell phone number that will be displayed to the caller ID of the other party....unfortunately it works only with selected cell phones.
I guess it will work well if you have to make international phone calls from your home location, but to travel with it you still need roaming access. And since the article doesn't specifies which phones/providers are compatible, I will guess that it's only a handfull, most likely US phone companies.
People this is clearly a joke, not a hoax. If they were smart, a few commercial banners on the site could've proved to be an excellent revenue source, considering the number of misguided/.ers visiting.

Looks like they take two great technologies and put them together to get one mediocre result.
Sure, throw it in the garbage. After all it will magically dissapear, leaving no poisonous residues behind, that can infiltrate your drinking water and contaminate the soil. I hope when you buy it, you drive to the store in your SUV, and leave the engine running with the AC on.
All irony asside, I think there is a un upside to the high cost of inkjet. People that pay a lot of money for ink, have a tendency to waste less paper, because it hurts their pocket everytime they send a page out.
I read the article with interest, hoping to find an account of how the Romanian teenagers organized themselves into a sofisticated network of phishers. Instead all I found was a reference about how the typical phisher is Romanian but without any explanation of how they arrived at this conclussion. So why Romanian? I guess it sounds exotic and that's enough to make it interesting. Another load of crap about chat rooms, following other articles with IRC==bad && foreigners==scary in the subject line. How about some info describing what level of sofistication can be achieved in a country where dial-up is the norm and moving out of the city means not having a landline at all, hence no Internet.
to reupload the scam to a different fake url and start over. How long does it take to hack the site? I don't think this kind of "war" is sustainable given the level of automation in web design+spam today.
Somehow you managed to make this about yourself! On a related note, I wasn't a member of the Planetary Society for two years, but I'm proud that they're accomplishing this.
Same story here with Bell Sympatico. After signing a request for dsl in their store, providing an account for automatic payment witdrawal, and being assured that an installer will get in touch with me within a few days, nothing happened. I waited for about 3 weeks, then signed on with another company. After more than two years, I wanted to sign on with them again, after my provider went out of business. They refused my request because I already had an account with them! Whaaaat? Not only they didn't sent an installer and a kit, but they charged me for almost two years, and I had no idea, because well, I don't check my bank statement as I should! Mea culpa.
But that's not the end. They checked and eventualy refunded me the money, sent a kit through mail (wrong modem but that's a detail). Two month later they sent me a bill for two accounts, one overdue. I had to convince them again that the first account was never opened in the first place. The same thing kept happenning for two more time every 3 months. Then they sent me a bill for the modem I never sent back to them when I closed the first account. Which I never opened!!! I had to go through the same thing again and they finally got it. Absolute mess and I wonder how come they managed to get it right.
I flew along with my wife on Thanksgiving weekend from Montreal to DC, both with canadian passports. Oh, wait, we had canadian id's (driving license and health insurrance card - yes everyone has that here so it's considered an official photo id) since both our passports were expired. We normally clear the customs in Canada, before boarding the plane and we flew many times before to the US (but not to DC), so nothing unusual there. We had to go through 4 different security check-points, the first one with emigration, where they interviewed us together about where we go, how long, where we stay, name and address. The guy took no notes so, so I guess it's just routine. Then we were pulled from the line before the second checkpoint and asked to open our luggage. A lady started taking out every single item, in front of all the other people checking in, and emptied our luggage. For a moment I freked out as I had a small jar of crushed home-grown savoury, as gift for my family. I'm sure you can see the implications here, but I smiled before she even got arround to ask and said: "Spices". I must've looked either scared shitless or she only looked for stuff that blows-up because she moved on quickly. Then we moved on to the next checkpoint, where we went through the metal detector. Then, we arrived at the Air Canada lounge, where we're supposed to board. The room was isolated from the rest of the airport, with guards at the door. Once in, you cannot go out again, and there's no bathroom, tv, food, watter, or even a garbage can. Before being allowed to enter, we got split-up, and interogated separately about destination, timeline, address, people we will visit. Of course, we got frisked again, asked to take our shoes off, turn on/off electronic equipment (3rd time) and asked to sit down and keep quiet untill boarding time! Well, I can tell you that next time we will spend our vacation days somewhere else, where we don't feel treated like criminals.
Last summer we had a vacation in Spain and we switched flights in Paris, before going to Madrid. We showed our passports once, in Paris. The airport in Madrid didn't even have customs for that flight, we walked right out. Quite a difference, and Madrid has been a terorism target for many years, but fear is not a political weapon.
I guess this is where a formal education (i.e. university degree in comp. sci.) would kick in and tell you that the O/S is there to eliminate duplicated code and enable multitasking.

I liked the end of his commentary: >, followed by > . Yeah, /. happens too.

But quite useless when windows comes to a crashing halt.

I used these free editors very often for coding languages ranging from C++ to Tcl/Tk: Crimson Editor and ConText.
What scares me most is the "cached" option. Good luck erasing the "I hate google" remark. It stays there forever! It stayyys....
