*sigh* Ok, I'm going over there and watch, as I have been for some time now, while you and your type dig your heels in, refuse to admit there's a massive gun ownership problem in the United States, and one day the anti-gun leftists will come and take them away from everybody.
Then you'll be happy. You can go join the "well-regulated" Michigan Militia. In Gitmo.
Building a consensus in this country would work better.
Don't bother to respond. I give up. Might as well sell my stuff while I can.
I'm not who you think I am. I'm a target shooter. I have hunted. I have promoted the NRA's safety classes (Eddie Eagle). I'm in favor of jackasses storing their guns safely and the rest of the community compromising on sane regulation of weapons.
There's also that part of the population that leaves their guns lying around where toddlers can reach them, grabs them when they're angry at the neighbors, or doesn't lock them up at all, and they get stolen, no doubt by leftist gun-confiscators.
Police that group and I'll listen to your Limbaugh-esque insinuations.
In a year or so we'll see if this gets scaled up, if the distributions systems get the laptops where they're intended to go, and whether kids are being taught successfully with them. By no means will we know a final answer.
He's trying (he might yet fail) to give people the means to more easily educate themselves; to change the dynamics of the educational system in some countries; to enable collaboration between children in said systems through an innovation in applied technology; and give educators a useful tool.
We'll shortly know how this massive social experiment works out. If it's even half as successful as they planned, Negroponte and folks deserve a Nobel.
I can see two tiers of low-cost laptops, as discussed in the Wired piece, being an advantage to a rollout, and the technical assistance (possibly some funding) from Intel being invaluable.
Intel knows that if this effort is successful, their future customers will be using these devices.
I don't need a remake, I merely want one. There's been such an advance in special effects, that a special-effects-oriented movie could really be good. Besides, I would like to see an update revolving around the Internet.
Then again, I liked Freakazoid, so who knows what I want?
>Peter Moore framed the discussing by recalling the blockbuster holiday season of 2004, which was driven by the Grand Theft Auto, Madden, and Halo franchises.
>You can't write a sentence.
Whereas you can't compose a sentence properly.
I keed, I keed.
>Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it... Believe nothing.

You could be right. I hope you're not.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this will spur a new learning curve.
In a year or so we'll see if this gets scaled up, if the distributions systems get the laptops where they're intended to go, and whether kids are being taught successfully with them. By no means will we know a final answer.
That, as you said, will take a decade or two.

This surprises me a bit... as I've never seen one of the things, and hardly ever see an ad for one.
Anybody here ever buy a Zune?

Hey, carp live almost forever, are good eating, and in the form of koi, are beautiful.
Don't diss the carp.

I want GTA: Madden.
Of all the movies that could have been remade, and wasn't. This one's at the top of my list...
Come on Hollywood!
What an amazing intellect you have. Sir, I salute you. Let's see more of these insightful, well-researched, well-reasoned posts.
