  1. Nothing new at all on Why Don't You Sleep On It? · · Score: 1
If at all, this article confirms what I have been reading on self-help books for years. There is a technique in NLP where you drink half of a glass of water with a problem in mind before going to sleep and drink the other half in the morning. The answer usually comes to you within minutes or during the next few hours. Also, in the Silva Method they have some variations of this technique known as Dream Control and Glass of Water.

I took the Silva Method Seminar and their goal is to teach you how to operate at alpha (a relaxed state of mind where most of your brain is oscilating at alpha brainwaves). They claim that you should "think in alpha and act on beta" and you learn how to make your brain enter alpha at will and use this for self-improvement.

From the article: Info-Tech asserts that the top three "perceived" reasons for project failures include unrealistic time frames, staff shortages and poorly defined project scopes

A good project manager will convince the customer about the unrealistic time frames, he will estimate cost and timeframe based on resources available, he will allocate reserves based on the risks taken with the project so it is always finished in time and on budget

What about creating a new DNS RR that would tell your MTA to only accept emails from a domain if the sender's ip address is in the MX list for the domain. This can avoid domain spoofing.

Also, force that the email you pass in the MAIL FROM: to match the one in the To: header.

Another one: force the server name passed with HELO to be a valid FQDN that maps to the ip address of the sender.

I know these measures can blow some mail lists but I think mail-list maintainers will be willing to modify their software if that helps getting rid of some spam. I have been working blocking spammers lately and in 99% of the cases they spoof the server name at HELO and the email addresses.

Maybe creating a new DNS RR to indicate the ip addresses of servers authorized to send email from a domain. Big domains like hotmail.com, yahoo.com, msn.com could set these and our MTAs will check whether the sender's ip address is in their lists. Of course it should check it both at the MAIL FROM: and within headers.

Just quietly delete all of you spam, and when spammers stop making money then they will eventually stop

There will be always dumb people, so that's not the answer. I have some ideas:

    - SMTP servers should come with a restricted incoming mail policy by default (no more than 10 mails from same IP/domain per minute or something like that). Postmasters could even charge you for unrestricted sending access making spam more expensive.

    - A flag in DNS MX record to indicate IP addreses of servers allowed to send email from their domain, SMTP servers will reject mail from IPs not in that list, this will get rid of all these spammers spoofing hotmail, yahoo, etc. accounts.

I think it is time for these big internet organizations like W3C to get together and set email server standars against spam.
