Hmm.. I never had anything against the Ewoks. They weren't abrasive like the Gungans (with emphasis on Jar-Jar and that irritating King.. or whatever the hell he's supposed to be)
What I do not understand is how they can claim the loss in profit is a literal loss... If pirating were impossible, would every person go out and buy every piece of software that they would have pirated?
Firefly did a really good job at portraying a world with the tech capable of far-space travel, but lacking a solution for the less fortunate of society. Nothing bugs me more than when people criticize Firefly (and possibly BSG) for the unrealistic nature of the old-western style aspects. In reality, the transition from computer age to space age will leave quite a few people behind, struggling to find a milieu between the contrasting areas of development. Good for BSG for portraying the way it will be rather than glitzing it up for the masses!
I completely agree. For some of us the heaters don't quite cut it.
We have baseboard heaters that are quite ineffective at keeping the apartment warm. We had a cold snap that went down to -40degC recently, leaving the apartment (with max heat) at 13degC. Needless to say my 2800+ was running at 28degC, with motherboard hovering around the 15degC mark (with only a modest air cooling setup!)
I'm a student and I have around 20,000 in assets.. 1.5% of 20K is 300 bucks... that doesn't seem like I would be leaving myself in a lurch if I donated that money. In fact, I've spent maybe 200 last summer sponsoring people in charity events (marathon's, etc..) and I donate my time for free tutoring math, which is more-or-less the equivalent of billy putting out his chunk of change. The thing that's worse, there are people with a much worse financial situation than I am in and do a lot more than I do... but these people don't make the news.
MS designed the bloody operating system this program is running on... shouldn't it perform quite well considering they know every in and out of Windows?
The new plane carries 555 ppl, vs a common 747 carrying 524 ppl. Airbus the claims that commercial aircraft need to "carry more passengers", what the hell is 21 more spaces going to do to the airport clog? (the plane is more efficient and higher lift capabilities, but that doesn't solve the passenger issue!)
If you consider the types of people who use cell phones excessively for recreational use (ie. simply calling someone to chat while they're bored riding the bus/in class/at work on break) they probably aren't the healthiest people in other aspects of their lives. Maybe I'm generalizing here, but I think there's some truth to how to live your life in one domain affects the other domains in your life. But seriously, what kind of parent would buy a cell phone that their kids can use at will? I think every kid should have a cell phone, because it's an amazing safety device, but it should NOT be used for casual conversation. I guess what I'm trying to say is there might be a lifestyle issue involved with the cellphone talkers that cause cognitive issues and/or tumors (such as lack of exercise, poor eating habits, emotional issues, etc.)
Hell, if anything it will strengthen the population by enacting survival of the fittest... only the dumb birds will die and the more intelligent birds will procreate! (this is sarcasm)
How about a woman who is raped by someone with AIDS? Or perhaps an emergency worker who accidentally becomes infected by treating someone with AIDS? Are these people not victims as well?
At least this post is on-topic by making a comparison between the patriot act and being f#$@%& in the ass. I would have given it +5 insightful given the chance...:-)
So what you're saying is if I eat the entire library of congress (fibre is good for your diet) I would gain 19,328,000,000,000 kg. (IF the library was entirely converted to fat).
Take that Richard Simmons!
Intel, for all their flaws, is a smart company with a lot of smart people working for it. I must just not be seeing the whole picture. They must have had some good reason not to have flushed this project years ago, right?
If there's one thing I've learned from working in high-tech, it's that no matter how smart and capable the grunts are (engineers, etc.) you always have a dim-witted marketing guy or manager steering projects in the wrong direction (and not listening to criticism).
My brain took Scientology and Spaink and created the ob simpson's phrase: "Minnesota Spankalogical Protocol"
You must be really desparate to break that milestone of 100 IQ...
Is this where the demons and imps come through the black hole, killing everything in sight? Well.. at least it's at Brown...

Force Fields. (or something equivalent!)

but I really don't want to know what architectural philosphy actually is...
The only nukes they have are in StarCraft.

On the other hand, if they had Turing's, I would definitly fork over the cash.

I'd like an evening with Marissa Mayer ... she's a fox! (RTFA Title and you'll understand!)

Yes, but the flash photography set them awry to begin with...

I wouldn't trust M$ with 640 KB of my sensitive data!
