Personally, the only thing I enjoyed reading before I was 10 was choose your own adventure books we'd get at the discount store. I naturally transitioned into D&D when I was like 12, and when I acquired my group of friends, we played RPGS of all sorts. I even wrote my own RPG. In my RPG, a certain mission had two crippled mice trying to take over the universe. I changed it up a bit and thought it would be great for a recurring cartoon of lab mice trying to take over the world. A year later Pinky and the Brain came out. Anyway, I tried to get this RPG to be the first MMORPG out, but Ultima Online came out first.

  10. God and evolution both exist. on Correcting Misperceptions About Evolution · · Score: -1, Flamebait

The Bible explains how things were created.
    Evolution explains how things change.

For those who wonder why God didn't give Moses a science book on mount Sinai:
Pr 25:2 We honor God for what he conceals; we honor kings for what they explain.

I think(and I have some biblical backing) on thinking the days of creation aren't a 24 hour period, but rather millions or billions of years long. Did God use evolution as a tool for making some living organisms, did he just let it happen naturally, or did he create them all manually is something up for debate. When you allow for more than 24 hours to happen in one of God's days, the only thing that comes up against the face of modern science is that the birds came before the dinosaurs. This could be a deal breaker for a lot of people, but I'm being honest with the long day theory that it really is the only thing that conflicts. The Big Bang, Pangea, and fossil records all add up.

I am not a scientist because I don't practice it. I do have a degree in Scientific Computing from Carnegie Mellon University though. Also I am a completely impassioned Christian from an act of God. Now that doesn't make me know the mind of God, but I know some things.

Everyone needs Jesus, but not everyone needs to be a scientist. Some people that believe in God think anything that goes against their perceived notion of God is evil. If you want a good response to people who say,"Evolution isn't God's plan.", say,"Neither was the snakes deception and Adam's sin. We're living in a fallen world. Evolution may not be God's plan, but it is reality." I don't buy into the idea that evolution came in to the world through Adam's sin. But for people who think evolution is from the Devil, they may buy into it.

Now remember this: Christians come from a range of educations. All scientists have advanced educations. Does superior education always make someone right on everything? Of course not, yet some scientists believe that Christianity is wrong because it has some followers who are anti-science in part or whole. Anyone with basic reasoning skills can see why that is faulty reasoning even though some anti-science arguments are mind boggling stupid. At some point it does become a faith issue for many. Do I have faith in what I can learn, understand, and who's leaders are intellectually strong? Or do I have faith in God who is infinite in intellect, yet has many followers who have a low IQ? As I said in the title, you can have both. Every Scientist should also be a Christian even though you can't make every Christian into a Scientist.

If you want tips on how to read the Bible, and a deeper insight on how science fits with the Bible, you can check the rough draft of a book I just wrote on my website at www.faithclub.net
I fear that people without guidance can really get confused when reading the Bible. If you want the most basic tip of all, read the New Testament first.

Once a dog gets friendly playing a game of fetch with you, sometimes they don't let go of the ball to try and mess with you. That is when you start playing mind games with the dog. Often dogs will start running as soon as they see your arm swing. So just hold onto the ball, and they'll go running then get confused that they can't find the ball. Show them the ball, and they'll figure it out. Do it enough times so they don't go running when you swing you arm. Next, throw the ball regularly. If the dog brings it back. Do another fake throw to see if the dog is paying attention to the release. Next, throw the ball over the dog, but hit a building so the ball comes back to you. The dog will spend a long time looking for the ball because it saw you release it, but didn't figure out that the ball hit the wall.

We have a dog now, but it only plays fetch with rocks and bricks. I once made the mistake of throwing a rock almost straight up in the air, and it caught the stone with its teeth. Ouch.

My main point if you missed it is that Christians should accept evolution. My smaller point is that the Big Bang , continental drift and fossil records make sense if you view the days of creation as a different length of time than a 24 hour day. There is a scripture verse that says,"We honor Kings for what they explain, and God for what he keeps hidden." In this way you can see why God did not just hand Moses a laptop with all scientific knowledge of the universe.

Good point. The way I saw it was that God created light before the sun existed. The length of the time that light shown may have been much longer than 12 hours, and what I am suggesting is that it was millions or billions of years. Then when darkness happens, it is only for a short period. Analogous to how the world was in darkness for a short period until Jesus came, and now the world is full of the light of God, and will eventually last eternally. So the length of darkness could have simply been extraordinarily short compared to the length of a day. This is just my first thoughts on that. If you want to email me, it is James_Sager_PA@yahoo.com, and after I put more thought into it, I'll get back to you. Thank you for raising an excellent point.
