I had heard "my version" so long ago, and had just assumed I was correct. I appreciate the follow-up. A quick search did not bring up confirmation of my understanding, but did render yours.
In English-speaking countries, it is mostly used just as a greeting and no serious answer is expected to it.
Though that may be true today, I believe in the past, it was simply a way to elicit from people whether or not they were sick...so you'd know to stay away from them.
There's a reason "we" have Welcome mats. It meant, only come in if you're well (not sick.)
There's a reason we say and do the things we do...generally we have to look to the past to understand them, as their reason for being useful then, may not serve a function today.
they've now had days to destroy/remove data from the premises. Reportedly, employees have been seen carrying boxes out of their London Headquarters after a judge was reluctant to issue a warrant immediately. Anything gathered from that location at least will likely be worthless. Smacks of a major cover-up/ass covering.
I have both Echo and Google Home. Though, because of the cost, I have Echo Dots in every room, and just an Echo and one Google Home in the living room.
I have many Smart Home devices, mostly Z-Wave and Zigbee (SmartThings controller, Philips Hue bulbs/light strips, Harmony hub & Kodi). By far the Echo's have worked better at controlling my smart home, but Google Home is (very very) slowly catching up, and does have a "few" features that make it better in general, but the price (per room) means it's not enough of an edge to switch out the Echo Dots. Google Home generally wins hands-down with a voice search, Alexa relies on Bing, so it's got both cables tied behind it's back.
The Amazon Echo still has a way to go on music control, unit grouping, and some other functionality, but it's been leading the pack since it's introduction, and nothing is close to it as yet. Hopefully, Amazon and Google will get over their spat, so that I can get Google Search instead of Bing.
On the assumption that the aesthetic is an exterior rather than interior concern....they could add some sort of projection onto the glass, so that people on the inside would recognize it (out of the corner of their eye I suppose) just before they walk into it. Rather than the projection being on all the time, it could be triggered by motion/heat or something.
This suggestion is slightly more tongue-in-cheek, than head-up-ass...but only slightly.
I volunteer at a local food pantry that also makes donated clothes available to its clients. I generally only volunteer once a week, but I see a lot of people lining up to get clothing...whether it's for themselves or someone else.
Maybe other countries don't need/want our used clothing as much, but there's still a demand/need in the USA at least.
I noticed the plugin a day or two ago and couldn't remember installing it (I don't watch Mr. Robot though wifey does), but assumed I must have installed it and simply forgot.
Definitely not happy that Mozilla installed it without my express permission. Nothing from me in their stocking this year.
Though relatively light on Smart Watch functions (other than notifications), it's a great device for Fitness Tracking.
There is a newer version that has a round screen, but I can't say I'm impressed enough to want to switch.
My battery life is great (don't have to charge it every day), great GPS (though not so good downtown...but that's a limitation that all watches have), HR, calorie, steps and sleep tracking.
If you primarily want a fitness tracker, this would be a good place to start.
Yes, I know it's by that Scientologist guy L. Ron Hubbard (and I think Scientology is bunk), but I actually like the movie and the book is better. Bit of fun to pass the time, and some proper sci-fi.
So those face and finger "masks" from Mission Impossible, which clearly make this sort of "biometric" security useless, will finally be ignored to the fullest.
How on earth could they not include any one of the Garmin devices? I guess they had costs involved but still seems like they'd include one of the (I assume) most popular fitness trackers available.
If one is doing all their work in the cloud, then more likely than not, that's where the files are as well...so not local and not subject to a local Ransomware attack. Wouldn't matter what the local OS is.
It's not perfect, but it does serve it's function. What isn't perfect and should be fixed is that we only have a 2 party system (despite the appearance of supporting more parties). Time I think to look at how the party systems in other countries work, where a coalition needs to be formed if a single party doesn't get enough votes.
I'm not happy with this election's results, but I respect the system...I just think it's time to rethink the system. Probably won't happen though.
Given how old Ford is, and assuming they don't use some crappy CGI to make him look young, this should put to bed the theory that Decker was a replicant. Though I guess they could spin it that he's wearing makeup etc. Hopefully, they'll just tie up the loose end.
The First World will certainly "benefit", the Third World doesn't really get much from this list.
We're so coddled that we still only think about ourselves and the world we imagine we'd like to live in (even though the one we're in is already extremely cushy for the most part).
Let's not forget that not everyone has it anywhere near as good as we do. They may not want to live like us, but they want to live without the constant threat of hunger, violence or even just a heavy rain.
The restrictions are just way too limiting. It's a big universe, and CBS/Paramount should "make" space for proper fan fiction, not beam-it-out in wide-dispersal mode.
I for one, will think twice before spending any money on any new Star Trek ventures going forward. Very, very disappointed.
Possibly you missed the part where I said "integrate a panel/voice control with the users phone", so that the user isn't interacting with their phone directly.
So, after a few centuries, instead of degrading, the data itself will evolve. "hello" will become "hi".
I have 3 Chrome windows: 78, 15 and 10 tabs. (I'm not going to mention my FF window.)
"Hello, my name is Chris, and I'm a tab-hoarder."
Well...I was born in Helsinki, and spoke Finnish before I learned English, so maybe I some how picked it up that way :) Doubtful, but what the heck.
Thanks!

They promised me (when I was first hired) more programming and less report writing/technical support etc. They continued to ignore me, so I moved on.
We went with the i9 CPU, and Non-ECC memory was the only option.
Until this week, their 64GB non-ecc option was actually cheaper than the 32GB option. Also, still no 3200MHz options.

Time for Wikileaks to get their feed on.

Just keep your eyes closed...maybe.
I too am disappointed about this news and will probably find a "better" place for the technology donation I usually make later this year.

Good job TSA!
