Hydrogen was not the cause for the Hindenberg disaster.
Yeah, but think of the Hindenburg, that was a nasty fireball:-) When it comes to german,/. is perfect on carrying every typo down several posting levels:-)
I wonder whether we will see a law which forces you to secure your system once you connect to the internet, just like you have to properly lock your car when you park it. In a time, where the gap between webserver- and home-connectivity has shrunk to such a small amount of bandwith, an insecure computer on the net is a danger, not only to the data stored on itself, but to other computers worldwide as well.
You forgot about c't. Though it has less DIY-projects than it did in the past it is still by far the best german computer magazine.
Sure, I remember the charger modification for the palm 3 cradle. Sadly enough, even the tech level of c't is fading, but still superior to "CHIP" or "PC-Welt".
Most magazines here (in germany) claiming to be about hacking cover subject like "How to copy ANY CD!" or how to 'hack' your neighbour's WLAN, these magazines seem to aim at 13 year old wannabe-crackers who just discovered this secret hackertool "tracert" with which they can "track and locate" other computers on "T43 n37". I hope that this new magazine will present the term "hacking" in the right light. Well, it'll be hard to receive in germany I guess.
I have to wonder: Will my kids be able to see the real version of the films, or are they going to be stuck with these inferior versions? How long can my VHS versions last? I watched 'em again last month -- they're already showing wear.
Now playing on your favorite BitTorrent site: The real Star Wars, directly from Laserdisc into your dvd writer...at least, that's what I heard.
Watch tv on a notebook? First we need a decent battery pack!!!!!
I guess at first we need something to watch. I don't have a notebook to search for an antenna connector if I'd like to watch TV. With a DVB-T tuner, this could be quite handy. Just put it in your notebook bag, lug it in whenever you want to see dumb TV instead of dumb internet pages via your hijacked wlan connection. Or just watch some reality show starring YOU while the cops get you:-)
"Nothing for you to see here. Please move along." Just got that message instead of a story. I already thought the/.-server would be busy shuffling video data over its USB...
Well, as we saw in "Trash of the Titans" (episode 9.22), Springfield's Plan B for dealing with emergencies is to move the whole town 5 miles down the road. Given how many crises seem to pop up there, it's not unreasonable to assume that they've invoked Plan B on a number of occasions.
So one of the next season will be "Simpsons - Atlantis"?
They don't only "almost" say it - in episode 248 they do say it. It's Kentucky.
No, they don't. They tell you where the actors playing "The Simpsons" live, but not where the show takes place. Let's see what SNPP has to say about it:
In the first airing of [BABF19], "Behind The Laughter", the
narrator gave Springfield's location as Northern Kentucky.
For the second and later airings, this changed to Southern
Missouri. Neither of these are admissible locations for
Springfield, for the many reasons listed later in this
document.
What's the explanation? This episode is not canon.
It portrays the show not as a cartoon created by Matt
Groening, but as a live-action sitcom originally written by
Homer and starring his own family. None of what happens is
part of the main Simpsons continuity... just like any
Halloween Special.
So you've never seen the simpsons at all...Springfield itself is moving around, sometimes it's at the ocean, sometimes near the desert or high mountains, the building in springfield are moving, sometimes the simpsons house is next to the quick-e-mart, sometimes next to the power plant, and even the rooms in homers house are changing.
OpenMosix is quite cool, I tried it once and it really impressed me. Although there are no paches for 2.6, does anyone know where the development of this great project is heading?
You are rght, but since different distributions are aiming for different target areas, I doubt that there will be "the one solution" that fits all. If standards are too weak, the are useless, if they are too strict, they will kill the variety and flexibility we now have on the distribution market.
The nice thing about standards: There are so many to chose from/p

According to TFA, this is a pre-compiler/translator, not an emulator. i.e. The entire program is recompiled for another platform using only the binary data as the source. This is theoretically possible and has been attempted many times, but such compilers often trip over levels of indirection that programmers add.
So it's more or less a cross-decompiler with a compiler attached. This could perhaps convert from one CPU to another, but what about system libraries? This part is probably the most difficult, considering how much effort is put into the wine project.

Those ASCII-Art pr0n will still work in lynx. I always knew it is superior!

No. I get too much tv shoved in my face in restraunts, coffee houses, gas stations, and walking down the sidewalk as it is.
Would be nice if they had TV there, but everywhere where there used to be music on tv they try to sell ringtones to me for incredible prices.

2.) Same with fluoride and detergent permanently polluting the water. Do we do squat about it, hell no! Cause chemical companies are $$$ing.
Yeah, they are contaminating our precious bodily fluids!
