If I was to pay someone when I was at uni to do my Java assignments for me, apart from the good mark I could have got it would have been bugger all help for me in my exam.
Going to a Java exam armed with a pencil and my brain was all the help I had, and by doing my assignments during the semester i learned everything i needed to know to pass my exam.
Cheaters will get found out eventually, if they manage to pass uni, they will not get very far.
You can only bullshit your way through something for so long before you hit the wall.
Science in its most basic form is a system of acquiring knowledge, based on experimentation to find truth.
The mythbusters discuss the theory of the myth & then generate a hypothesis weather it is plausible or not, then conduct an experiment to find out weather their hypothesis is correct.
What is not science about that???
It may be basic science, but its still science.
From what I have seen it is getting a lot of people interested in science so that has to be good doesn't it.
They may be able to raise 1 million, but if nothing eventuates out of it who gets the money??
As much as I would love to see more firefly, I really don't want to put my money into reviving a tv show when I don't know where the money is going, i'd much prefer to increase my current donations to more needy causes like Oxfam.
Certainly there is something that most Windows users don't experience, and that is actual *enjoyment* from their OS
I get plenty of enjoyment from my Windows Experience thank you very much!
Windows has given me so much porn over the last few years i wouldn't know what to do with myself. I could be working on a stressful Powerpoint presentation for work & then all of a sudden pops up some porn, it always comes in at the right time, it makes the windows experience truley worth it.
And don't forget clippy, that helpful son of a gun, always answering all the questions I have when I get stuck.
I know there are heaps out there, but there isn't an offical MS one, thats what I was meaning.
Some of the Aqua themes are good though, I was using one on one of my machines before the HDD failed, I found it less obtrusive & easier to look at compared to Luna.
North Korea is making far bigger noises about making their own nuclear bombs, but no one seems to make such a fuss.... Oh, but wait a mo,.... does it have much oil underground ?
Its a pity there isn't a world wide demand for Barbequed beef ("pulgoki"), its a dam tasty dish, one i would go to war for!!!
For this to work properly would require all hospitals to agree on a standardisation of medical data, currently its really up to the operating environment of the hospital to decide what their records are.
Ideally all data would be moved out of hospitals into Datacentres and hospitals linking in, its really the only way it can work, having each hospital keeping their data & then transmitting it to a national database would only allow for errors.
The buisness im in is working supporting GP's & Specialists and similar systems have been thought of before, so patients can have their entire medical history accessed by any GP. There is a lot of criticism of the idea because of privacy concerns and plus its bad for buisness for GP's if their patents can go and see anyone else and take their history with them.
This sounds great!! All of the useless images & content will be copyrighted in one tier, leaving the public domain once again empty for geeks to share their star trek fan scripts with each other.
We are going to have a geek Renaissance. I think i should move back into my mum's basement.
Iv been thinking about getting one to see what its like, im more interested that it records your movments during the night & can map your sleep cycles.
A watch isn't that bad to wear to bed i don't think either, especially if its going to help you.
I think it will be one of those things i get when I get my tax return.
I used to do that, till i moved my alarm clock to the other side of my room so I actually have to get out of bed to turn it off. I haven't been late for work since I did that.
Getting out of bed is easy when you find something to really motivate you.
The sleeptracker watch is what your talking about, it monitors your body signals to wake you up at the best moment, you set an alarm window & it will wake you up at the best time, they sell on Amazon for 139.95.
Hopefully these robots can apply some logic to the endless sea of IP disputes.
Company A - I invtented the product & have been selling it for years!!!
Company B - I thought about making the product, couldn't be assed and filed a patent now I want company A to give me my hard earned royalties.
Robot Judge - Logic dictates that company B is an idiot, the case is ruled in favor of Company A. Company B will incur the online service fee for the judgment at also will be fired out of a cannon into the sun for wasting the time of the Robot Court.
Australia never had Fair Use laws in copyright, it was always just assumed it was ok, now I guess its good there is legislation to protect the consumer.
Australias has to adopt DMCA under the Australian/American Free Trade agreement so I guess its a little late for this now though.
I understand the nessecity for wiretaps & high levels of secrecy to avoid intelligence falling into the wrong hands, but we keep hearing we are at war with terrorists, no body is safe.
I know there is a large imminent terrorist threat, but is this a war or more just a large unkown fear placed by the administration onto the population. So many people are fearful of nothing, they don't understand whats going on or why it needs to be done & the more it all goes on people are getting more and more frustrated because of all the paranoia regarding this supposed war.
At some point in war there is meant to be communication between to sides, some sort of resolve, this is not happening, it is just a bunch of fundamentalists trying to stir the pot while the Government keeps declaring its a war on humanity.
These wiretaps are more confusion to add to everything else thats going on around us, nobody know's anymore who's right or who's wrong, all we see is a President on TV bascially doing announcing he needs america to help him fight a war on Terror and thats all the details the american people are going to get.
Im glad that they discovered & prosecuted against this crime, it shows their can be good uses of DMCA.
The problem i have with DMCA is that it is not balanced between the Copyrighter & the Consumer, it puts all the power in the Copyright holder & gives nothing to the consumer at all, there are no protections or basic rights given at all, this was a law that was inherintly flawed from the beginning because the consumer was not included in it.
Next year in Australia because of the FTA we are looking at adopting the DMCA in Australia as law and a lot of people are not looking forward to it.
This law puts every user at risk of abuse because there is little provision for checks of abuse against customers nor is there any solid defence against a DMCA violation, its basically as draconian as accusing someone of being a witch.
Camera's record everything, but unless your caught on camera doing something wrong you really don't have to worry as they can't track your identity with them yet.
More & more information is being kept about us, its when you can start linking this information via things like Identity cards or this with mobile phone tracking that people should start to be worried.
tracking your phone, not only gives you your location, but it also provides an individual phone number, which is access to your phone account, this phone account can be used to find billing records and bank details.
Its a powerful tool to track someone & profile their identity at the same time, weather it be government or anyone else for that matter.
We are constantly giving more & more people information about us and we are getting little assurance in return of what is going to be done to protect the information we provide.
And I for one welcome our new eight-legged autonomous combat vehicle overlords!!!!
North Korea, Killer Robots, this sounds like something out of a James Bond plot.

I RTFA & then corrected myself, how embarassing.

/.ers pick dupes in the blink of an eye.
Dam, the joke went so early. Everyone trying to go for the +5 Funny will be bitterly dissapointed. Better luck next time guys!
I gave my rights up for a beer & a nudie mag, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Thats what it is with all this "free" software being shoved in our face.
I know there are heaps out there, but there isn't an offical MS one, thats what I was meaning. Some of the Aqua themes are good though, I was using one on one of my machines before the HDD failed, I found it less obtrusive & easier to look at compared to Luna.
Microsoft announce an Aqua theme in Windows Vista.

Your first born for the fee & your left testicle for collateral.
Sony want to make sure they break your balls & break your family if you break their DRM, its cheaper then getting lawyers involved.
I think my copy of windows may be counterfeit. Its really slow and every time I open internet explorer I keep getting directed to hardcore porn sites.
Hopefully these robots can apply some logic to the endless sea of IP disputes.

This was what mislead the US government into thinking iraq had WMD's.
It was really a bunch of Iraqi geeks playing CS on their modded PC's.
It just happened they were so heavy they needed special trucks to get them from their basement's to the local community hall.
