Was some off brand keyboard from the late 90's. Had a large trackball on the right side of the keyboard and the mouse buttons on the the lower left side of the keyboard. It was a very natural flow due mostly to the trackball and the buttons being split on different sides of the keyboard. But it died and I haven't been able to find a similar replacement since.
But I do agree that trackballs are superior to mice, but I always end up using a mouse for some reason. Anything is better than a trackpad.
I like the N:Vision green packaged bulbs from Home Depot. Overall they are pleasing to the eye and, like you, I hated CFLs in the past. I've replaced 12 bulbs in my house so far and will replace the rest as they burn out. They've come a long way from my first try 5 years ago or so. Likewise, I've also had some ugly incandescent bulbs in the past.
Besides some flakiness in setting up WiFi, my iBook has "just worked" for the past 2.5+ years. Far less headaches than anything Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX or Irix related. When 10.5 comes out, I'll buy a MacBook -- and not because the iBook needs to be replaced. It's just getting more difficult to get time on it without my wife or kids doing something on the laptop. They also prefer it over Windows. Maybe Apple only took half of NeXTStep, but I think they took the good half.
Usually there are rumble strips as you approach the toll booth which should wake the driver. I'm not sure about the Jersey Turnpike, but a lot of the booths are manned. The concrete barriers are necessary to protect the workers in the booths. Usually they have some type of impact mitigation in front of the concrete, but I don't think anything is designed for that type of impact.
I thought it looked like a case of someone trying to race through the toll area fast enough so they wouldn't be caught by the cameras.
What an idiot (they person in the car trying to be speed racer through the toll booth). Kudos to the guy that got out of his car and went up to see if he could do something. Most people would sit in their car and just watch.
My wife is a teacher and frequently puts in hours until 12:00 midnight or 1:00 am and does a lot of work on the weekends to prep for the upcoming week. She teaches third grade. Sure, you get the summers off, but remember that there is usually a week after the kids leave and 1-2 weeks before they return that are consumed with in service training and such. Plus you're supposed to get your Masters degree or lose your accredidation. Some positions are better than others, but I think the drop out rate is around 3/4 of teachers quit within the first 5 years of teaching. No Child Left Behind isn't helping things either.
Oh well, in summary, I won't use the "summers off" joke around my wife.
I would argue that the radio stations are providing a service that helps to keep the artists relevant and keeps the interest up so that people will go out and pay $50 (cheap now) at Ticketmaster to see the artist. Perhaps the artist should be paying the radio stations for the advertisement?
I tried several brands that were terrible, but I really like the n:vision soft white bulbs at Home Depot (green packaging). The color is pleasingly warm, to my tastes. If you're considering CFLs, I'd suggest these as a decent, readily available starting point.
Why read Groklaw when there are plenty of other diversions on the 'Net?? You know, the *good* kind of diversions?
One thing that irks me about our legal system is the civil/criminal distinction. Some cases are clearly criminal, some clearly civil. But with the RIAA, I'm breaking the law by downloading music. So shouldn't that be a criminal case? But it's much easier to harass the little guy with the less stringent requirements of a civil case. Even OJ who was found innocent (or not guilty) but then subjected to a wrongful death case in civil court. Of course he really was guilty, but to me, it seems like the same thing as double jeopoardy.
I guess my bitch is that the legal system has just become a big club for the corporations that already have a big legal staff. The little guy can fight and win the case and lose their home and life savings or just roll over and take a lesser loss.
Whether this project makes sense aside, that's what we're blowing in one month in Iraq. Think about all the good infrastructure projects we could build with the money we're wasting on a civil war. Ok, stepping off the political soapbox. Next?
If the space shuttle was involved, I'd turn it down. I guess using it as a playground is as good of a use as any. Has any good science come out of the ISS? I don't follow it much except to watch it travel overhead one night, but I haven't heard of any good studies resulting from the ISS. Seems more like a monetary black hole in low earth orbit.
...while he paid $25 million for his little trip to space, my tax dollars are subsidizing the rest of his trip. Do some damn science instead of being a taxi for the uber-rich. (I know Russia is strapped for cash.)
Oh no!! You put "Bush" and "death" in the same posting. Be prepared for a knock on the door by some guys in black suits.
Wait, I just did the same thing....

The point is that it's a bit hypocritical to start speaking out against the "system" after you've reaped $1.5 billion from said system.
Baaaa. I really like my iBook and OS X. Baaaaa.

Try it. Trust me, it's not what you think.

Of course if the RIAA were to collest money from the radio stations, they would gladly give the artists their fair share of the royalties. Sure.
... dark ring and Uranaus comment.
The ones I bought this weekend came in a plastic pack that had the little triangle/arrow thingy, so I'm assuming it's recyclable.

Just plead the 5th and say nothing.

I paid my way via the Army College Fund. Can't say I would recommend that now. ;-)
Motivation, drive *plus* a trust fund can be a formidable force. Good luck!

I guess necessity is the mother of invention. If they were in a huge lab, we may never have seen microelectronics. Ha!
Anonymous Coward == troll living in mom's basement. I wouldn't worry about him.
Very true. (I cut and pasted this from Word just to make it more meaningful.)
