I wanted to post this on this story, but i got there too late... This article at LinuxDevices alludes that the gOS PCs are really intended to act as a development system for a range of future Linux products using the Ubuntu/Enlightment platform. If you cant get your hands on one of these now, don't worry, you will start seeing these soon a lot more commonly. I bet by the end of 2008, you will see a gOS port for say the eeePC (and questions of whether Xandros is breaking the GPL can be tossed out with the bathwater while keeping the baby!)
Actually it should be pronounced Irony, since the reason he had to change his name is because he jumped ship from Warner Bros, but they owned the rights to his name and the music by Prince, so he had to go by the symbol. He of all people should understand what happens when you control something so tightly that it destroys the thing you are controlling... major upheaval and change. He should support the open use of his music, its not like he doesn't have a humongous fan base that supports almost all of his musical endeavors. I would hope true fans would be put off by this behavior.
In the days before big mega media corps, many bands released their music to their local radio stations for this recognition. When was the last time you heard one on your local radio?
I'm a DJ at WTUL in New Orleans, and I can assure you the non-payola, independent driven radio market is still out there. We have two two-hour local shows devoted to only playing New Orleans local music and we never play top 40 hits any time of the week! We play local bands like Morning 40 Federation, the New Orleans Bingo! Show, the Ballywho, and Quintron which are just the tip of a very weird and wacky totally commercial-free music scene down here. We get these records straight from the artists, too! Often we bring them into the studio and have them bang a number out once and awhile even... I'm proud to be a part of a system that is pulling by its own bootstraps and making art and music for its own sake!
No it's pretty much competing with... Although, there is some truth to what you say. It's definitely a straight competition with the GSM carriers, that is for certain.
Chapter 1 Section 1-7 Paragraph (2): Detainees must be treated humanely
Chapter 1 Section 1-8 Statement (a): Detainees are to be treated in spirit of Geneva Convention
Chapter 16 essentially outlines how to respect the religious tenets of the Islam
NO WHERE in the report is the word torture mentioned...
INTERESTINGLY, the CINC is only mentioned once; that the implentation of the SOP should follow the CINCs AND Geneva Conventions intentions
Basically, this document says follow international law and respect the detainees. This is not going to be a watershed or bring about the impeachment of the President. Not much to speak of really. That being said, it is an illegal prison and needs to be shut down and a new way of dealing with these people devised.
ugh, sorry guys, this is what i meant to say...
I have beenadvocating this for some time... Creating a global hegemony on information is the purpose of academia, however. Which is why I will be somewhat surprised if it passes. The thing is, these days, its just not needed... people are so caught up in the importance of the degree and the academic experience, there will always been a need for the high-cost academic world. So why make the access to their information, just as high cost?! A reformation of the patent system would also go very nicely with freedom of information!
I'm assuming this is sarcasm. I'm only upset with YouTube for taking down the clips! Why do such a thing? This is important information and evidence and yet, censored! Why?
Don't forget about this baby, too! This one is scary considering the parent and TFA since its INTENDED to contain thousands of people. Disney may want to take their name off that building JUST IN CASE. Safety issues aside, I think the work artistically is stunning, and as art should be appreciated so... but similar to Rem Koolhaas and the OMA AMO, its intellectually mind-blowing, but functionally, it seems, dangerous. Perhaps art and life aren't as compatible as these folks so detached from everyday reality seem to want to make it.
To be fair, the actions of Bram, et al., are necessary to protect himself from liability. He has quite intelligently always stated that he did not condone or support any of the "illegal" uses of the technology. By doing this, they can claim innocence from complicity of its uses. Meanwhile, if the a community of individuals changes the protocol and uses it for whatever purposes they like, each user is responsible for their own implementation and the protocol is out there maintained by everyone who uses it, so no easy target for prosecutors to chase after. Not to say that Bram intended this, but I doubt he's concerned with the results.
Actually, a major skill needed in the business world is interpersonal relationships: intelligible clarity, measured responses, and the actual ability to maintain face-to-face negotiations. What I see in the gaming world is self-isolated, socially inept, hyper-competitive weaklings. Sure, not all, but more often than not, when I meet someone who claims to be "a gamer" this is the case than the former. I would argue that the mentality of gaming is the opposite of what is needed in not just the business world, but life in general.
I would support the argument that some gaming skills themselves are useful, but they hardly offset the much more important aspect of interpersonal relationship building.
They may have to resort to the extremely outdated technology of this type of cable called Category 5... I don't know if you can still find this in antique shops, however.
I agree, why would I want to listen to two non-scientists argue about the merits and effects of scientific issues. I seriously doubt most of the candidates have a serious working knowledge of most scientific problems in the world today. Thats what advisers and committees are for, to tell them how to think about these issues (although, they may not always be accurate either). Regardless, even if their knowledge of pressing scientific issues was more than superficial, I don't think i could sit through three hours of that prattle. I can hardly do it now with the diversity of issues they bullshit to now.
Dont worry, the SOLD OUT likely means the community that bought them all up will make sure the longevity of this phone persists similar to the persistence of the Zaurus users who still have pkg sites available for both Qtopia and X environments. Though, I guess it does depend on how many phones it takes to officially sell out (200 or 20,000!)
Regardless, yea, it may not be for the masses, there IS more than a significant market for this, and yes, i think the Neo is the next step for this. It just takes at least some kind of corporate-backing and a committed community!
But the truth of the matter is, I'd take XP & OS X over Linux. And that's because I'm anti-Linux or don't support Linux.
I'd say this is a Freudian slip, but lets just chalk it up to typo.
Regardless, I'd like to see your proficiency on using Windows 95 or OSX 8. I'm sure everything was just so naturally intuitive when you walked into it, right? Unfortunately, most people have for so long worked with ONE type of interface, of COURSE it's intuitive. Sit a PC-only user in front of a mac and they say "Oh, this doesnt make sense to me!" or a Mac-only user in front of a PC and you get the same response. If instead of complaining about how utterly unintuitive an experience Linux was and took some effort to learn how that box in front of you worked, maybe it would start clicking.
Additionally, driver support in Linux is pretty much at an "It-Just-Works" state, its a lot better than the days of Win 95 and even 98 when i used to get driver problems ALL the time.
Linux is providing us with a FREE, OPEN, community-driven alternative to computing. If you want to support a small group of self-interested organizations ultimately only interested in power over usability, then go waste your money, I'm saving mine and having an AWESOME and FUN time doing it!
Go Gentoo (PS, a great way to get FORCED into learning about your Linux system!)

What about just bringing this number to the US?

"All your ideas are belong to us"
Yes, we have so many roadblocks in place to stop new nuclear power plants from becoming a reality like a $500 million dollar insurance subsidy to anyone willing to build new plants with $250 Million per year for five years after, and credits for nuclear energy production...
I hope someone does something to stop them and their overhyped fears of nuclear materials, so we can start making new nuclear weapons. Everybody knows we have solved any technical issues with dangerous nuclear power production!
Well the reason it is so in the US, is because of tax credits...

We didnt have all these sophisticated environments to waste our time in... We played SOLITAIRE in visual basic and WE LIKED IT!!!
No, not blackmail, and NO not bribery, but its a word that is obviously a synonym... BALLMER!
Absolutely, however, online relationships versus business relationships have very little in common in how they are conducted and maintained.

Not if you select clear private data after each session and ask to restore on restart, regardless of how it closes
I completely agree
