  1. OK EVERYBODY!!!! SHHHHHHHHHH on Wikipedia Used For Apparent Viral Marketing Ploy · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Just nobody reply and we will teach them a lesson not to use /. as a marketing ploy EITHER!!! Yes, so nobody reply, except me, and all those first posters that already beat me and those that might have had something important to say, like those insightful young late night cyberpunks who saw through this ruse, and anybody else who might have something informative to add to this particular post. But yea, everybody else, DONT REPLY!

  2. Re:Value on How Much Bandwidth is Required to Aggregate Blogs? · · Score: 1

In a different time, before the internet, if you had merely changed the world blog to the word mall or some other social place to meet, you would have called them a social-whore. The fact is the 'blogosphere' for all its modern wonders and entrapments is merely a digital extension of our previous social world. I too for awhile was on about that whole 'oh im too cool for a blog because i dont care if nobody cares about my boring life' mentality but the fact is call it a diary, call it a blog, call it a social networking node its just a natural use of the internet.

For those that call blogs merely boring drivel with no purpose (oh well except for the blogs *I* read) those are just the same misantropes who sat in the back of class heckling everyone (yes i was one too), or who goes to the bar and drinks by hisself and doesnt talk to anyone except for the 'regulars' because they are the only REAL patrons there. But for those that have embraced it for this reason or not, all blogging or reading blogs is is a natural extension of sociality. Like the person who sitting in line at the bank strikes up a useless conversation with you just to pass the time, or the old guy at the bus stop who rambles away his life story during the long wait. Blogs are healthy and natural no matter how boring or useless the internet l33t think it is.

And consider this, those that tend to heckle the blogosphere to seem ahead of the cutting edge or what have you of the internet, we can be sure these are the same dcsks we see in IRC trying to seem the most knowledgable or on the forums trying to talk the loudest which are hey just other forms of social media available on the internet. So quit the blog-slamming and either read them or go back to yr pr0n surfing. the end.

Of course the US says no way no how if its not our way its the highway. The Russkies say rather slyly, oh no we could never it would cost this much... We couldnt afford that, and come on who could our fine American friend? There is nothing that the right amount wont get you in Russia. Whether legally or illegally or that lovely gray area in-between. Some might call it corruption (i tend to call it that when its illegal or hazardous) but i like to call it the TRUE land of opportunity!

Im not advocating the mod made in this article, because you are right, a plug in electric car is a disatorous idea. But a stock hybrid of course is not plugin electric. But, i am merely arguing against those that use economics as a reason to not buy a hybrid of any model. And when i say economics i am referring to the 'cost-benefit ratio is too high' people. People who easily have the money to buy such a car but cant justify paying (half as much as they would for an audi or acura of similar features but without the prestige) $30k (?! thats NOTHING for a car these days, let alone $20k for the base model) for it because it will take them X years (as if it mattered what X was) to make the money back (as compared to WHAT) in gas savings...

Now i totally agree with you on the idiocy of the idea of single occupancy to loaded car theory as a mode of transporation! Mass transit is the saddest in this country then anywhere in the world. And its because we allow corporations to dictate our social policies, not people. Not that it would truly matter since most people have such blinding faith in this system that they rely on the 'free market' and its policies as tome for forming their opinions. Nonetheless, in my defense, i DO ride a bike or walk where i need to go, i hate driving. But when the time comes to get a better vehicle, since that is how transporation in this country is suited for, i will make no other choice than a hybrid. And we should all be advocating their usage, not coming up with soulless reasons not too. Yea of course im not going to buy something i cant afford, not because it doesnt benefit society. But because its not even an option for me. I couldnt get a loan to buy that car no matter how bad i want one. So thank you for recognizing my sensibility.

You're right, its not a money consideration. You detractors of this technology burn me up so bad. This issue is not an economic one, its a social and environmental one. You should be willing to spend more money to make life for those around you and for generations to come a better one. Not be the selfish one and live an extravagent, wasteful life so that those down the line will have a best case deplorable, worst case dangerous one! Economics shouldnt even be an issue period.

But just to humor you, consider this, if more people stopped attacking the technology which quite simply a) decreases dependency in the public sector on oil and b) encourages growth in other energy consumptive technologies that decrease harmful emissions and started buying into this the price would drop considerably. At any rate, as soon as i get a new job making a yearly income equal to the top of the line model they produce, i am buying one. Because i should, not because its the best value at this moment!

I will have to say that this situation will actually create the opposite of what you suggest. The thing is Google and Yahoo are accused of taking the best talent, which is most likely going to be in smaller proportion than the lesser talent if not much more so. So unless you are the cream of the crop its only going to get worse for you. This because from being lesser, you most likely wont get in at the top two choices (Google/Yahoo) and the rest of the other choices out there become more competitive since everyone is vying for those spots. Of course its arguable that other than the coolness factor, and the huge paychecks from Google/Yahoo that they are any better or worse to work at then a startup or a lesser tier company.
