...Fingerprints, in contrast, have traditionally been viewed as 'real or physical evidence,' meaning that police are entitled to take them without permission....
Historically, fingerprints have had value only as evidence. That is quite different than the biometric security usage that fingerprints also enjoy nowadays. Biometric security has morphed fingerprints from being only evidence to also being security passcodes.
.
imo, fingerprints, when used purely as evidence (i.e, as they have been used historically), should not require a search warrant.
However, when fingerprints are used for a security purpose (i.e.are not evidence, but a security key), then they should be treated as being part of a search that the security key enables.
It will be interesting to see how the Supreme Court eventually rules on this.
... I'm also curious how you think the media industries will re-introduce DRM in the billions of DRM-free songs...
DRM is about control. It is all about control. The media industry won't lock-down all those DRM-free songs that are "out there" now, but what is to prevent them from, say, locking down a higher resolution version that you may want to buy in the future? Or what is to prevent them from stop selling DRM-free songs?
I put the unnecessary code in so that the next programmer who likes to complain has something to complain about besides my real code.
.
There are some programmers who like to complain about other people's code (it seems to make them think they are a better coder), so why not give them something intended for them to complain about?
When the Federal government is invloved, don't blame on intentional malice that which can be explained by consequences of Republican budget cuts.
.
Indeed, I've often seen Republicans complain [loudly] about government problems that are a direct consequence of their budget cuts. It is almost as if the Republicans are intentionally crippling government so that they can then criticize government for being crippled.
Pokémon Go Linked to CIA
Augmented reality software could turn smartphones into Imperial probe droids
The ‘augmented reality’ mobile game Pokémon Go, which uses the player’s smartphone camera to ‘add’ Pokémon to real-world locations, has ties to the CIA.
The developer of Pokémon Go, Niantic, Inc., was founded by John Hanke, who previously received funding from the CIA’s venture capital firm In-Q-Tel to develop what eventually became Google Earth.

People used to be able to make a decent living making disco balls. But times have changed. Those who adopt do well, those who sit and expect the money to flow to them do not do well.
To all those Microsoft fanbois who said affirmatively that Microsoft was not planning a subscription model for Windows 10, please explain once again how Microsoft would never institute a subscription model for Windows 10.
$5 per month for this service, $5 per month for that service... pretty soon your monthly media bill looks like the overly expensive cable bill you cut the cord to get rid of.

The media content industry has already done away with analogue video output jacks. Now they are focusing on audio.

But... but... but... Microsoft has stated that XP is dead and unsupported, haven't they?
Opera always had its share of compatibility problems with sites, anyway....
In my usage, on Android, Opera worked very well, and was cleaner and easier to use (far better UI) than Firefox on Android.

I disagree with that premise.
Opera on Android was a nice product. But there is no way I'm going to install a Chinese browser on my smartphone.
...because you want ...
As your message so aptly illustrates, you have no idea what I want. :)
... intentionally...

The bar must have been set pretty low.

So then, what's the problem here?
This is probably the first of an ongoing series of "articles" subtly prodding laggards to move to the wonderfulness of Windows 10 data harvesting.
