What the fuck is wrong with this country? Are people this fucking uppity that they see a harmless words like birthday, dinosaur and Halloween and they can't deal with it?
What happens when they get on the internet and they see words like cunt and cocksucker and fucktard?
Who the hell spends $200 on a damn phone and then quibbles about paying $1 for an app?
I don't know anyone that agonizes over buying a $1 app. If it's a $5 app maybe, but if there is a free, gimped demo version I can try and I end up liking it, I've got no problem dropping the $5 for the full version.
Please - give him one term. Let him trim the federal government - you can always build it back up in a few years. Think of it as a giant refactoring project.
Electing Ron Paul wouldn't change anything because no one in Congress would be stupid enough to pass any of his crazy-ass ideas, except maybe Michelle Bachmann and hopefully she'll be out after the next election.
Whenever I am maxing out my cheapo WiFi router, sometimes I can hear a very slight humming from the router
Similarly, if its very quiet, under certain conditions I can hear slight noises from my laptop (not the Fan or HDD, seems to come from the CPU), and sometimes from CRT TV's
I wonder if their issue is something like this
I can never hear those noises over the voices in my head.
Case in point, when I was a kid nobody was allergic to peanuts. Now it's two in every three people and I can't eat peanuts on the plane in case tiny particles get into the air cycler (I'm not saying there are NO people with this allergy, as it is a demonstrable allergy, but it's almost certainly one or two orders of magnitude less than people claim).
And why are we sheltering these people? It's a genetic defect, let natural selection take it's course. We shouldn't be allowing them to breed and create more people allergic to peanuts.
Some might not have a choice. There are still communities small enough that if your parent is a teacher you are going to be stuck in their class at some point. While I agree that it does seem to be a conflict of interests, it is sometimes unavoidable.
Sadly, not all teachers follow this policy. I know some teachers who have friended both students and parents. This seems like asking for trouble to me.
I share your "no current co-workers" policy. It's the best way to go. I'm debating on changing this policy for Google+ as you can control content there a lot easier.
No, it means that 65% don't want one *sight unseen*. That is, those 65% either want to see it first, *or* don't want it. I'm pretty sure I'll be upgrading, since my 3Gs has seen better days at this point, but there's always the possibility that I'll skip it for some reason.
Don't forget those of us in the 65% that would buy it "sight unseen" but just got the Verizon iPhone 4 in February and have to wait another year and a half for discount pricing.
Are you talking land value? In the desert, land is cheap. Are you talking about the amount of glass needed to make the "green house?" What would make the size of the base a deterrent?
Yes I'm thinking construction materials, not land value. I realize the land is probably useless for any other purpose.
I was running out of reasons to not go outside.
At least outside you have a chance of seeing one of these falling out of the sky at you. You really think being indoors will make you any safer?
Are you fucking kidding me?

But don't you know, all suspects are guilty. Otherwise they wouldn't be suspects.
"Of course. Bringing the innocent to trial would be unfair." ~Q
But Americans are attempting to even things out.
Whoosh....
But how will we get mutant, tri-boobed women if we don't put a colony on Mars?
Or how long before the first virus comes out that pushes the "reset" button for you?
So I should probably think about updating all the machines I have running Firefox 2.0.0.20?
We have a bunch of older Mac running 10.3.9 that can't even update to Firefox 3.6 because it requires 10.4.
I thought the whole point of Firefox was that it was supposed to have lower system requirements than IE.

I'm all for this as it would eliminate time zones and daylight savings.
Plus, my birthday would forever be Friday the 13th.
Unless they taste great, why bother?
I have no idea what I'd do with it, but I want one. If anyone was looking for a Christmas gift idea for me, look no further.

I didn't realize either of these were still around.
I thought they'd been replaced by better services such as Rdio and Pandora.
I'd completely forgotten about this book until I saw it again on the list. I'll have to go pick up a copy now that I have a 4 month old to read it to.

Someone should tell her about tinfoil. She could venture out and see the world then and not be stuck in her faraday cage all day.

And if you do buy a computer from Best Buy, why wouldn't you wipe it and start with a clean system as soon as you got it home/to the office?
They should have shutdown the TSA not the FAA.
Perhaps they've found Val Kilmer's career.

Based on this picture, http://www.gizmag.com/enviromission-solar-tower-arizona-clean-energy-renewable/19287/picture/138318/ , it appears to have quite a bit of infrastructure. I'd be curious to see a cost analysis compare the amount of land used for this vs how much energy could be produced in the same amount of land using solar panels.
