Did you even go to college? First its the seventh most trafficked site on the net. Second, the name is a reference to college books of freshmen faces that many give out -- aka face books. I use both myspace and facebook and facebook is by far better and actually has a use for people in college. facebook is our phone directory, meeting place and bulletin board. when you meet someone, its no longer "whats your phone number." thats been replaced with "are you on facebook." by knowing their name only, you get all their information. Also, say you need to ask that person you sit next to in class a question but don't know their name... you can search through the school's classes and find their profile. you can also stalk hot girls too. you may like myspace but to say that facebook is unheard of --- that is a gross understatement. your problem is that you're just out of the demographic.

Just because Apple is switching to Intel, does that mean that the chips will be the same ones in PCs? Aren't P4s a RISC core with CISC instructions built on top? If so, couldn't Apple be going to Intel because IBM can't sustain production. Could Apple use a variant of the Itanium 2 chip? Plus that would keep windows users from purchasing OSX and running it on their Dells.

Most of linux is optimized for x86 it seems. I'm under the impression that gentoo and numerous other distros just simply recompile & repackage their x86 isos for PPC... and the Terra Soft goes through and optimizes all the code for PPC and makes sure all the Apple hardware works perfectly. They bundle a good product. I had it running on my Powerbook at one time.

True, sometime they don't ask but when they do... I have been told by Border guards that they won't accept a driver's license (as it does not denote any citizenship). Furthermore, I've been told that although they will accept a birth certificate, they no longer will accept a copy of it and that they prefer that you do not use a birth certificate. Before I got a passport, they continually harassed me (although maybe it was because I was 20 years old and only going to Canada to visit the bars). I'm older now but my experiences were from 2002. So maybe they have relaxed since then but they still are not as lax as they were before 9/11... when I could use a copy of a birth certificate.

  24. Detroit/Windsor border on U.S. to Require Passport To Re-Enter Country · · Score: 2, Interesting

I live in Detroit and when I was younger (read: 19 & 20 years old) I used to cross the border to hit up the bars in Windsor. Before 9/11, all I needed was my license and a copy of my birth certificate. After 9/11, its nearly impossible to get across without a Passport. Your license and copy of your birth certificate will not get you across anymore. Furthermore, your license and your real birth certificate does work but the border guards will harass you. So it looks like the US is adopting the policy of the Detroit border for the rest of its crossings.
