To take advantage of this feature you'll still require a very important piece of software. Windows. Guess who makes that, Microsoft. So they win either way:) It's just another PC you can install Windows on. The people who should be most concerned are the likes of Dell et al.
And this is the first public beta. No doubt by the time we see Leopard, this thing will be rocking along.
The future looks bright in Cupertino, CA... what will they think of next...
Well anyone born before 1980 is too old to game;) I'm part of a group (no we're not a clan, clans are for young people) called Below Eighty (eg born before 1980). Most of the people are married, have kids and game for fun rather than anything competitive... And if we do have gaming get togethers, it involves more drinking than gaming:)
Both cover the 3 networks i'm registered with (plus more), ICQ / Jabber (via GoogleTalk) / MSN. But i don't use anything bar the chat and file sending functionality. If i want to voice chat to somebody, i use my cell phone. Or if i'm really feeling lazy, then Skype...
The common goodness with these two, they're super simple, and they just work. I use the base install for both, that's the minimum amount of functionality. You can extend both with plugins, but who really needs all that bloat. AdiumX has tabbed chatting (that can group chats at a protocol level), and growl support, which is very pretty:)
I've tried a bunch of other clients, but they all come with too many bells and whistles. As mentioned, all i want to do is chat. That's it. And thats what IM is about, instant messaging. If you need any other functionality, like voice or whatever, then use the phone or send an email...
Back on track. Either way, MS will support both file formats in their Office Suite. This just means that OOo gets to add Office XML support without having to work it out themselves.
Hell they were still probably trying to work things out until these rumours came out...
Love em and leave em?

Pixar For Sale?

· Score: 3, Interesting
So Jobs cut's a deal with his mates at Disney for TV over iTunes then once he has what he wants, tells Disney to bugger off with distribution of the Pixar flicks. I love it.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but provided google search gives you the right results you can easily find any place on earth by just entering their Lat/Long straight into the google maps search box, multiple formats accepted too.
Why not? Today, the iPod may be your device of choice, but what if, tomorrow, a company comes out with a much, much better device. Will you still be happy? You won't if you bought Rights Restricted songs from Apple. Your songs will live and die on that iPod like a caged animal and your investment will forever be tied to Apple's largesse--and the life-span of your iPod.
Well, you could BURN THEM TO CD:) Then do whatever the hell you want with them and stay "open" to any future devices / technology.
You do though get to play the game of lossy encoding...
I thought that fraud was already a criminal offense...
perhaps i'm mistaken, but tricking someone by impersonating something has been going on for years, just because it happens online the law can't touch them?
Surely they could build these things with Lith-ion batteries built into them, and a charging stand to go along with it.
Hell my cordless phone has an inbuilt rechargable battery, why can't these "high tech" companies build something similar?

Or, god forbid, I might be an Aussie...

Would they be less evil if they released enough DRM details to have it hacked quickly?
Most people spend that time backing up code to personal computers or otherwise stealing IP belonging to the employer.
I suspect the smart ones would have sensed this coming, and done that way before handing in their resignation...
For my PC i use Miranda - http://www.miranda-im.org/
:)
For my Mac i use Adiumx - http://www.adiumx.com/

has Microsoft had a capital S in it?

Everything works fine, apart from the silly 8 player maximum for Xbox 360 on live...
The talks never ended...

Maybe they can trade the sheep for Peter Jacksons super computer cluster...
is that when their portal becomes goatse.cx?
is this classed as XXXBox porn or XBoxxx porn?
And something in the paper about it : http://smh.com.au/articles/2004/09/23/109565147428 9.html?oneclick=true
Changes are here: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/rulesregulations/penalti es/demeritpoints/demerit_changes.html
I haven't downloaded either, but technically, couldn't they just rebadge each others toolbars? Heck all the code is visible :)
Which makes me think, which was the chicken and which was the egg...

Technically OSX sits on Darwin, which is, if i'm not mistaken, a flavour of Linux... Hell it's even open source...
Don't worry, the defaced / incorrect / spammed versions will make their way onto the disc by simple being a part of the site.
Wouldn't they have to check every article for correctness / spam etc before it made it onto the disc?

If they'll just take the FF source, modify it so it fits into the Kernel and pass it off as IE7, a la Cherry OS.

Is there anything the Internet cannot do?
