in my dad's hometown of woonsocket, rhode island lots of older folks speak mostly french and thus have a couple weird sayings that pop out because of prepositional confusion:
"throw me down the stairs my coat" "next time you talk shut up" "how tall you weigh? tell me in pounds and inches"
But, the most important feature is just what you said...there's nothing special you have to do to use it...just plug it into a USB port and it's recognized as a USB drive.

it needs to be able to sync to your itunes library automatically when you plug it in.
that's the case with most computers. a person can build a computer as fast and reliable as any pc dealer for less because you don't have to pay anyone to put it together. this should be elementary and obvious to anyone. you're paying for the convenience and/or know-how of someone putting that bits together and maybe providing a warranty.
XM Radio and Sirius are two companies who have started offering satellite-based audio for a monthly fee. you can buy a receiver for one or the other (usually in your car, but their are portable ones too) and receive the same content anywhere (in the continental US, i believe)
But in 1977, there was no movie ratings, but now we do have them. Because of this, if Han still did shoot first, the movie would have been rated R for "graphic violence and adult content" (murder). But with having Han shot at, it becomes clear self defence and is just "graphic violence".
What? The original Star Wars was rated PG, under the current system which started in 1968.

Just wondering - can Intel patent it's chip pin-outs / signal levels (not the internal design) in such a way other mfrs. cannot replicate the function?
I think it would be tough to patent signal levels, but didn't Intel try patenting the socket with the Pentium II?

I can build a comparable Athlon64 for about $500.
How long would it take (including the time spent shopping for parts), and how much would you expect to be paid to do it?

apple lossless is more of a competitor to flac than it is to ogg vorbis.
