    The Revolution will probably come out next year or the next. 2006 would be consistant with N releasing a new (non-gameboy) console every 5 years.

    The Parent has shown that they are not diluting them selves in the market any more than sony, who also have released a major console every 5 years since the playstation.

    I belive librarys already do a better job of this than wifi. Computers are not cheap. The librarys provide both the computer and the internet connection to the public. You can get dail-up in a city for a rather low price. If you can afford a computer, you really should be able to afford that.

    On that point, why public wifi? Why not public dail up? It would be much cheaper for everyone. Most name-brand computers come with modems. I belive not very many come with wifi cards. If the public wifi is anything like the wifi at my school, then I would sooner take the dial up.

    SBC should not be any more worried than your local bookstore.

    SBC is scared of this because people would have to pay for the wifi. They would stop getting their DSL because there are already paying for wifi. Why should you have to pay for two internet connections when you are only using one?

    But if the government could take IP, and since big corperations can usually buy laws, what would stop the MS from using government money to take say, the rights to the Linux kernal?

    That is simply far too much power for the government to have.

    <kinda off topic>
    on the whole SCOTUS case, if they can take land and give it to other private citizens, what would happen if some company got a man elected, and then he seized all competition for said company, giving the propery to the company? Though, this could hurt the DS in smaller, less populated areas, but this could lead to very interesting events in malls and other places with similar machines. They could have say, a DS hub in video game stores, so you can play with a lot of people. These hubs could say, keep up with your stats and the like. The textbook idea is awesome. My old highschool wanted to do this sort of thing a while back, but it was really expensive. But at $100 a pop, that would be cheaper than textbooks. Although you would still have to buy the text books, I would imagine Ebooks would be much cheaper, and it would allow smaller companies to get in on the text book market, since a much smaller investment is needed to make Ebooks.
    Though, with the minimum order of 1 million, it would have to be a state wide deal. I hope this gets done rather soon and the US gets in on it.

    The reason why Capitalism works best when there is just enough stuff to go around is because it is based on Supply and Demand. If there is too much Supply, then the price drops so low that you can not sell it and make a profit. This is one of the many factors that cause the great depression in america. (too much food was produced, so farmers could no longer afford to grow food and sell it). Communism doesnt have this problem because everything is distributed by the government, which can cause its own problems if the government it bad. There is a lot more too it, but that is the basics. However, I am no expert, this is just how i see it.
