I couldn't read the article(/.'d) but I know from personal experience (and reading countless others testimony) that Parallels 4 is a humongous heap of manure. I do own Parallels 3 and 4 but never looked back after purchasing VMware 2.
When Parallels sold me the upgrade to 4.0 I backed up 4 virtual machines I had (thankfully) then proceded to spend the next 4 days trying to get it to run ANY of them. The first attempt at each upgrade to v4, following Parallels explicit insructions, resulted in total destruction of the virtual machine(unrecoverable with no way to downgrade it back to v3 to use again). I sent in about 5 support requests that are still TO THIS DAY unanswered from last November.
As stated before, the article is slashdotted but I don't actually care what the results are. Parallels can keep their products (like they did my money). I will never do business with that company again.
I am so sick of hearing that after I bought something, it's not mine to do with as I please. I paid for it, why would I not be allowed to modify it, break it, or turn it into a personal floatation device if I see fit? What we need to do is STOP BUYING ANYTHING THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH DMCA AND THIS KIND OF CRAP ATTACHED! Somehow this turned into a sellers economy. Apparently they think we need to buy it more than they need to sell it thus giving them the authority to make the rules of what we can do with something. If everyone stopped buying the products unless they were truly ours then the only way to sell a competitive product would be to unrestrict it's use. I know I can hear the whiners now saying the price would go up do to subsidising, well.....read my statement about NOT BUYING. Does it really cost $700 to manufacture a cell phone? Screw them. Make them lower the price to street value. Nevermind, You can't fix stupid.
Well, I found the game to work fine from release with a couple minor things. The occasional crash when changing zones, the crafting is difficult to get interested in. Other than that, it worked pretty good on my mac playing 1680x1050 with everthing at full in dual booted windows. I played World of Warcraft from closed beta, to open beta, up until about 6 months ago when I finally tired completely and I can tell you, that game was far worse at release than Warhammer. Things like the loot-lock bug come to mind? Everytime you tried to loot something you would lock in the knealt down position and be stuck like that indefinitely, as well as unable to loot anything. Remember the servers down? For the first year? I do. For the whole first year wow was a ? as to wether I was going to be able to play on a given night. Just goes to show, probably 50% of the people whining are uninformed me too wannabees that haunt the internet like no other venue on the planet claiming to have played wow when it first went retail. When wow first came out, there wasn't nearly as many as Warhammer. Let's see how Warhammer looks in 5 years.
Msoft had to find a way to sell Vista. All they had to do was cut all the broken crap (most of it)
And build a new desktop ui and poof.. we introduce win 7.
As an Engineer I believe my ethics are just as important as any other skill I may have. You should too.
If a company I worked for didn't see that in me I would probably be working somewhere else anyway. You do have the ability to look for other employment while at your current job. If you have been at your job for any length of time, they will know you, both personally and professionally. If there is anything to worry about, they already knew it BEFORE anyone stabbed your back.
A wise man told me once, "If a company wants you, they will do anything in their power to keep you. If they don't like you, they will do anything to get rid of you. This includes "bending the rules"".
After downloading and trying out Win 7, I might make a suggestion.
Use VM software as it will make it easier to start fresh every time it decides something will never work again.
For me, It locks up every time I try and run anything. What did I do, you may ask? I ran Solitaire one time. That was enought to throw the awesome Windows 7 off balance. I'm going back to my Mac. Wake me when Windows 2364 comes out, should be next year according to Msoft revisioning. I hear it is much improved.
Jeeze, Lets see,
Bush & Co. are leaving in what, 3 weeks.
Obama and his new administration are I.T. / Tech Centric.
Bush needs to be sure the White House email (and who knows what WE DON'T KNOW) stays lost.
Let me spell it out for you.
C. O. N. S. P. I. R. A. C. Y.
There isn't even a question in my mind about this.
Since when does anything that comes out of zdnet matter anyway?
This is the typical malinformed drivel one would expect from a 12 year old complaining he can't run Vista on his smart phone to download torrents and I have to say, EXACTLY what I expect from ZDNet.
actually, you idiot, the black spots ARE the sun spots. So... if anything he would be starting to bring in NEW black spots.
Jesus, if your gonna be a racist, at least be an informed racist.
The sun works on an 11 year cycle. There is also other smaller cycles that run in this. One is a 28 day cycle.
These are very important to long range (and short range) communication. Ham(amateur) radio is very influenced(as well as commercial) by this.
I am not going to try and explain the whole thing here but try this link for anone that would like to learn more about the sloar flux index, k index, a index etc..

So... Using Sony's hardware, software, I write a program. Sony Owns it. => I use Dell hardware, Microsoft software (Windows XP, Visual Studio), I write some code. Who do I give my money to? Dell or Microsoft because one of them MUST own it, if not both, using Sony's logic.......As usual, big business = ridiculous!
Is this because the EXACT finctionality of the cue cat is duplicated in the new G1 phone with varied programs like Shop savy? They scan a barcode then go online and give you the best prices from several big retailers.
Noboy has equated this to the latest. Tmobile is now offering free wifi for G1 users (at least)nationwide.
I know... here it comes.. all the trash about Tmobile has only 22 3G markets etc... Well, I have a G1, I live in 1 of those markets and here, it is awesome.
Some kind of coincidence.
Well, everyone has said Iphone. It has accelorometer, gps, touch screen, easy to use store. I have heard that in Canada, it is prohibitively expensive to use for anything worthwhile.
Blackberrys have a huge install base but there is the marketing issue.
I personally am going to try my hand at android. I know, the new G1 is not available in Canada yet, but either it will be or you can pretty much bet that another phone using Android will be soon. Most, if not all the big names have announced they will be introducing a phone based on it. Google has the marketplace and they have said they won't interfere (you don't need Mr. Jobs to personally rub your app all over his body and proclaim it doesn't itch!). There is also that little thing about dev costs. The SDK is free, a community is beginning to appear for support, and oh, did I forget to mention the OS is open source?... For the future, I would thing that Android might be an interesting choice. Java is pretty straight forward, or I have seen a little C++ used on it. not sure where that will go but I have seen it. You can even use the FREE emulator at code.google.
I have heard people say it has too little storage, well it has a microSD card - you decide how much it will have.
I have heard people say it doesn't showcase well. From the opening home screen it not only can scroll icons with a finger gesture like the Iphone but it can also scroll back and forth through 3 screens as well. I have heard people say it has bugs. I have no bugs and I have downloaded over 20 FREE apps and games from the app market. Remember, the reviews you will hear about something that is not fanboy driven will usually be bad because if something just works only a small percentage will post about it working well. Most of the posts you will see are from the few that have issues. I'm not here to do a full review but I will say I like the choice of the touch screen or the trackball, it is easily read in direct sunlight, the speaker is loud enough to listen to music (but only as loud as one would expect from a device of this size). The only real complaint I have is that the case it came with doesn't have a belt clip. Oh, one last thing... remember this is a generation 1 device with a generation 1 OS and generation 1 apps. It will only get better.
It looks like they are finally going to roll out the much anticipated 3d world at home. This would make sense as they are covering their asses for any content that your children might see. I have a ps3 and read the whole fine print and thats what I took away from it.
"All you really need to do is contact your insurance beforehand and CYA. It's not such a big deal."
I am not going into details because it is personal but.... you, sir, are either naive, lying, or very lucky. I have a much different experience.

You forgot to mention which Microsoft company the router belonged to....

So I guess now we can call Malware writers "Storm Chasers".
Msoft had to find a way to sell Vista. All they had to do was cut all the broken crap (most of it) And build a new desktop ui and poof.. we introduce win 7.
I agree. If a "network engineer" passes his P. E. , I may change my mind.

Homeland securit bans use of all telephones. Cites device could be used for communication.

As far as I can see this is just a bs sensationalizing fluff story. I work for a multi state power utility as an engineer and we have no such issues.
