Yeah, a lot of people don't care, sadly. I frequent a music website that will NOT allow downloads of iTunes exclusive content because it's all crappy quality. This would be a nice thing for people who like to share music and not have it sound like shit.
I don't think their future really is that bright at all. Their future may be extremely bright - to the people already in the cult of Mac - but to your everyday Windows user? They couldn't care less what Apple is doing outside of iPods and iTunes. I do roving computer repair, and I've yet to come across someone who's even asked me about a Mac yet. Lots of people have iPods and don't even know Apple still makes computers.
While I'm sure no extreme is as true as is made out (Apple has no future vs. Taking over MS's #1 spot), I think Apple will remain in its niche for quite a while.
I was an employee at GameCrazy (Subsidiary of Hollywood Video), and I was always told to push, push, push. I actually was reprimanded more than once for reccomending someone NOT buy stinky games. I remember one instance in particular where a mother came in and had two games up: Spiderman 2 and Fantastic Four. Since FF came out that week, it had a $50 pricetag where Spiderman was only $20. I told her without a doubt, buy Spiderman 2 because FF is just terrible. My boss was very pissed at me for selling the cheaper game. I eventually was fired for low sales, but if you have a conscience about gaming, you simply can't work in that industry. The worst part was pushing the stupid "Club Membership", which was not worth the $20 they charged for it. 5% off used games and a magazine subscription isn't really worth $20, and the managers would get really upset that they weren't selling.
Not only that, but we'd OFTEN take the discs out of "New" games to play in the store, then shrinkwrap them back up and put them on the shelf when we were done. The game was clearly used at this point, but if someone brought a game back that they hadn't even taken the adhesive seal off of, but the plastic was off, we couldn't give refunds, only trade-in value. To this day, I will NOT buy new games at a game store, because I know how we used to treat those discs. Games would be in demo units for days, weeks on end, and we'd just toss them back in, shrinkwrap it, and charge full price. This wasn't even an isolated thing, this was their policy to do this.
You can't even build a DIY Mac, all Macs are nowadays is another OEM. Apple's competitor isn't MS, it's Dell, HP, Gateway, or any other OEM. If I could build my own system and use a Mac OS, I'm sure lots of people would take interest. Making a $2500 investment simply for a GUI is dumb to me.
I never said that at all, but Microsoft realizes that the gamer market is far from miniscule, as can be seen with how well they integrate gaming into the OS. Vista (supposedly) does a lot to make gaming a whole lot better on the PC, and I like that Microsoft realizes that gamers are probably their most vehement supporters, and they take care of us.
Exactly. Mac cultists can't seem to understand the fact that Apple will never capture the gamer market. My PC is built from the ground up to be a gaming machine. A lot of my games will not run even on an Intel Mac, so it's just not an option for me. Plus, I see no reason to. It has a cute UI, but Vista's is nicer. It has that dock, but there's Windows apps that mimic it to a T, perhaps do it better. The only reason people ever have when I get my weekly "Convert!" speeches hamhandedly tossed at me is the GUI. Screw the GUI, I want a system I can actually use.
Most parents largely do ignore ESRB ratings as it is now, and complain when the games they buy for their kids contain what the box says. Perhaps making the ESRB do more than watch a video and apply a label will drive them to be more than a sticker that publishers can point to saying "THE RATING WAS ON THE BOX!!!". If the MPAA can have their rating system known by parents, then so can the ESRB.
This is a great idea, I have no idea why no one has done this before. Konami's Mocap Boxing even counts the calories you work off (although I have no idea how accurate the tally is) and gives one hell of a workout. Now if they figured out a way for me to play World of Warcraft while working out, I'd be the most fit guy in the world.
I wish L2 had nearly as large a player base of WoW, the game just isn't the same as it was in the early expansions. Now that C5 is coming out, I know a lot of people are coming back to my server (Sieghardt), here's hoping the game gets an injection of new players.
I had Cable for 2-3 years, but after SBC started offering DSL in my area for $20 a month (Where Comcast was upping it soon to $65 a month), I simply had to change over. For the most part I've been happy. The DSL is noticably slower, and I can't run servers like I could before because my IP changes constantly, the price is what I love. Now I have the $12 plan, and I think it's definately worth it. I wouldn't pay any more than the $20 I was paying before, however, because the service from AT&T is terrible. When it works, it works great, but on the rare occasion it isn't working, it takes a while to get someone to fix it.
You've got to be kidding me... comparing an FMV game to the best gaming series of the current generation of games? What a terrible attempt at trolling.
L2Orphus was purchased by IGE almost a year ago now, and they've had a massive banner ad for IGE for 2 years now. RMT ruined Lineage II. And while it looks like Square is doing something about it for FFXI, there's no action on NCSoft's part on L2. It's bad when dealing with L2 because NC already doesn't give half a rat's shit about their american customers, it's all focused on Korea. When I can't go XP in Enchanted Valley because there's 20 different bot trains on L2Walker or L2Wind, there's nothing I can do. If I kill them all, I risk losing the gear that in order to replace, I'd have to go buy money from the people I killed! It's ridiculous, and hearing about the company that kills my favorite game even more expanding their empire makes me sick to the stomach.
The concept is a "Deluxe Edition" is one that's been in PC games for a long time. There's "Collector's Edition" versions of Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and Half Life 2 that I saw at Gamestop yesterday. Paying $80 for HL2? You get a T-Shirt with it! It's just a way for the companies to make more money. As for the added cost for consoles, I think it has to do less with the licensing, and more to do with the statement that the console makers made a while ago about games costing more in the next generation. I mean, sure it takes more effort to create a game on the X360 than the normal Xbox, but when you have Fight Night Round 3 for Xbox 360 at a $60 price point, right by its normal Xbox counterpart at a $50 price point... people are going to buy the more expensive one just because they have the newest hardware that's capable of running it. I highly doubt they're making up for a loss of revenue that would occur if they released the title at the standard $50 price point.
If I write a post in a random blog on an improbable event, but a generally good idea, can I get it posted on/. too? This is beyond simple wishful thinking. The secondary market for online gaming is nowhere near the size of usefulness of the airline industry. If I got a choice between frequent flyer miles and Lineage II Adena, I'd take the Adena, but that would require some deal between NCSoft and a credit card company to provide virtual currency, and I really don't even see this ever happening.
This is irrelevant flamebait. Microsoft doesn't own that IP, so it really doesn't matter. It's akin to being able to download Halo on your X360 and pay a lot less than you would at a retail outlet. Microsoft's only been in the game for 1 generation, they don't have far less "Timeless Classics" than Nintendo has with its massive catalog of titles from the past.
There's a HUGE difference between bringing it up in an appropriate situation and saying "WE'RE HERE! WE'RE QUEER!". If they were a guild with a standard name with members who all happened to be gay, I wouldn't care at ALL. NO ONE would. But if someone made a guild named the Ku Klux Klan and only recruited white supremacists now, would they have the same protection? I'd have to undoubtedly say yes, because if Blizzard is going to say the expression of your real world sexuality is fine, and naming a guild after a real-world advocacy group, then they can't say other groups can't do it as well.
That's totally fine if you're discussing your character's sexual orientation, but when you're discussing your real world sexual orientation, that's beyond what the WoW world is supposed to be about, and from what I understand, they were doing this based on if you were gay in real life or not. If I made a gay Tauren, but wasn't gay in real life, would they deny me membership?
I agree with Blizz's previous statement of not having real world issues present in the game, such as a gay guild. I don't know what server they play on, but the amount of gay bashing and whatnot I see in barrens chats, I can only imagine how much arguing and whatnot would be caused by them boldly proclaiming they're gay in their guild title.

I think I still have this issue of EGM, from, oh, 2003 or so? How is this on the front page?

I'd love to try it, as I have it on DVD and I got a key, but my Silicon Image 3112 Raid Controller isn't supported!

How long are people allowed to use this version? Will it up and die after a lockout one day?

A high scoring FF game? I never thought I'd see the day!
...we get Reality TV Show games? That's all that's on Fox nowadays anyway.
I'm not happy until they're hung and quartered.
