    You could file such a patent already; you cannot enforce it, but you remain be the patent holder if things change.

    I think anti-(software)patent demonstrators should focus on the wrongness of the enforcement of patents, because the patent system itself is pretty acceptable (for people who don't believe in free lunches and other forms of humanity).

    Most processors have a protection system, to prevent things like divide-by-zero and the use of invalid memory addresses and instructions.

    The operating system installed code that will be called when such things occur (i.e. through an interrupt); the chip itself does not fail at all.

    It's just that certain lazy OS developers just stop the running program or even let the user restart (e.g. disable interrupts, display a blue screen and halt) instead of solving the problem or forcing applications to use correct memory access etc. (as done in Java).

    I sure hope not! These devices are old! They'd better come up with some kind of trustworthy brain extension that would not require any further devices. Except for a housekeeping sexdoll of course.

    Why don't they try to do it right at once and create an 'elephant' or 'whale', since size seems to matter..

    Personally, I would like it if no mouse or keyboard was involved; a camera system tracking and interpreting my fingers' movement (intelligently) would be much nicer.
