Erm. Care to explain what your definition of lukewarm reception is? It's in the all-time top 20 at gamerankings.com. It sold millions of copies. It is still the number 1 XBox Live game after being out for over a year.
Yes, because the images are clearly an accurate representation of the size, because they're taken from the same angle and at the same difference from the camera. I'm not saying the power supply is small (its fucking huge), but claiming its almost as large as the XBox 360 itself is kind of retarded, as its no way near it. Its probably less than 1/6 the size of the console.
And this 50% return rate figure comes from where exactly, you? I could go around and tell you that everyone I know who purchased a 360 (thats about 10, including me) have never had a problem. Heck, by your 30% return rate figure, at least 3 of us should have had problems, no? Oh wait, guess what, the 4 stores near me that sold 360s have had 0 returns after asking them. Does that prove my argument? I could very well be making that figure up. Last I checked, no store has announced any defective rate, so you can't really go spouting that as hard fact.
And wait, launch titles that can be counted on one hand? How many fingers does your hand have exactly? 18? Because that's how many launch titles there actually are, and that's not including the Arcade games you can buy/download/try out. See, if you're trying to make up a figure about the defective rate, at least get the figure people can actually count correct first.
I have seen this mentioned quite a few times (Tesla and wireless power), but the books I read mentioned that Tesla claimed he got wireless power to work but never actually demonstrated it. I'm interested to know where you read that stuff.
Ya, but Altavista had a search engine...and thats about it. They didn't really diversify or improve upon anything, whereas Google are continously expanding into new territories and adding new things to their service.
How do we know that you aren't part of a plot by the terrorists to make it look like the Chinese government has a plot to make the US look like its attempting to negate slashdot's coverage of the Chinese freedom-of-speech issue, hence causing conflict between the two countries?
Yes, the longhorn delays are inexcusable, and these things can happen especially in large corporporations that are difficult to switch to newer methods of development. In fact, Microsoft itself acknowledged this shortcoming in the development of Vista, which was caused by their out-of-date methods, and have states that they'll be adopting different programming strategies for future releases. I don't recall when I read this, but it was posted here on Slashdot before. Companies can make mistakes, and they can learn from them. Point-in-case: the Xbox 360 got out in its launch window, and apart from a few that had buggy systems that's being overblown by the web (ala the PSP problems and the nano scratches), it has mostly been successful.
You can't say 'seriously' and 'sarcasm' in the same sentence. Kinda defeats the purpose, dont you think? I'm guessing you were being sarcastic about the fact that Sony is also a greedy corporation...but since when does first-gen Sony stuff work properly? Heard of the problems with the PSP?
Frankly I'm not buying the whole shortage BS. Ya, the Xbox 360 will probably sell out on day one (or day two), but not due to any shortages. I was worried that the store I pre-ordered from won't have enough to meet all pre-orders (they have around 50); I called them last night and they said that they have more than enough (meaning they have ones that aren't pre-ordered to sell too). And this is a relatively small store whose focus is not primarily on videogames, so I'm sure places like EB will get more.
And how often have you written applications the size and scope of Office without it having any bug fixes? Why does OpenOffice have point releases? Are those not bug fixes? So its bad that Microsoft fixes the bugs, but its ok for OO to do so?
So...loading a texture on a wall, say on a weekly basis or whatever, when you enter an area will degrade your performance? By what? 0.00001 of a percent? Can you even calculate that?
Ya, Bush is religious, but his justifications for going to war had nothing to do with religion. Neither did congress, who approved going to war. You can't even argue the fact that this current war on Iraq was caused by religion.
People tend to use any crap to justify their actions, it is not necessarily down to religion. There are some religious people who want to limit homosexual liberties and abortion, at the same time, there are non-religious people who want to do the same. Also, there are non-religious people who want to improve homosexual liberties and so on, and at the same time, you'll find religious people wanting to do the same. To summarize: Things go both ways. The problems we face and have faced over the years come from people, regardless of their religious status. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
Well, you were the one condemning religion for those things, when the United States, not a religious institution, does the same. It's strange that you can't see the obvious fact that these things you are condemning and blaming religion for are not caused by religion, but caused by humans, regardless of their beliefs.
If modern technology and modern medicine is so bad and evil and god knows what else, please explain to me why life expectancy in Humans today is about 30-40% more than 100 years ago. Its about living better for a longer time, or what am I missing?
Just a point: most of the life expectancy increase can be attributed to cleaner water supplies and better hygiene, not necessarily to modern medicine.
And how is that limited to religion? Look at the United States; they regularly attempt to impose their views of how a government should be run, sometimes going as far as invading them or replacing their leaders. You don't like dictatorship or communism? Don't practise them! Don't tell other people how to live!
See how the same argument can go for things other than religion?
"You guys probably killed more people than Hitler?" Wait, and you're calling the parent irrational? Wow.
Don't know, but thats what I ran into (i tried my hand at posting a gamespot article, which mentioned it in passing). I wonder how many other terms are censored though.
MIME Manager, perhaps?
It'd be far easier than taking a phrase that's already well-associated with a product and trying to apply it to something else. The first thing I thought when I read the title and summary was: Wait, you're converting Adobe's Type Manager to be a file manager? How? Why? Followed by...wait...since when does iTunes manage fonts?
What if the article I wish to publish addresses the problem of child pornography? Guess what, when I tried posting said article, I got an error: "word not allowed: child pornography".

Umm...the PS2 was sold at a loss, as was the PSP, so will the PS3. The only company that doesn't sell at a loss is Nintendo.

The original poster mentioned iPod nano scratches.

Ya, but unlike Sony or Apple, MS has acknowledged some consoles have problems, and are offering support.

Hooboy are you out of date. It's punching Bush/Affleck/Hilton now.

Why is paying more now considered to be less? You forget that I do get the advantage of having an Xbox 360 for 12 months before it becomes less.
And aren't those states not part of the US?

I quite look forward to do that.
