    Oh god please, take your partisan bullshit elsewhere. They have the majorities and can do whatever they please. "oh it is the republicans fault" - bullshit. The fact is neither of them want to pass an actual budget for a lot of reasons.

    The media wants to make more money. So, if you were in the business of selling newspapers/magazines/stupid shit what would you do to attract customers? Would you talk about things no one cares about or would you talk about things PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT.

    While the two feed off one another (is the iPhone popular because it is "great" or is it popular because we keep saying it is popular), if something people liked more came along it would certainly get more attention.

    I'd love to use Appcelerator for my iPhone app to port to Android, but I just feel there would be too much backend work to figure out all the nuances that exist. I do way too much low level stuff on the iPhone to think a port with Appcelerator would be successful... I am dreading my port to Android. 1000+ hours for the iPhone shouldn't be too bad since most of that was requirements and shifting requirements...

    I have an iPad and will get an android tablet whenever one comes out.

    But Samsung has decided to fail before they even get out of the gate. $900 for their tablet? Are you flipping serious? 7'' instead of 10'', 4GB of memory instead of 64.

    I can see it now, in the board of directors meeting

    "Apple is printing money with these at $500, I bet if we double the price, we can make twice as much money!!!"

    If they want to go after the iPad, which they do, they need to create a comparable product at the same price point.

    Here is the real problem, Lawyers pick out those they don't think are good "fits" - aka those with more than half a god damned brain. They want dumb jurors and it is what we get. I wouldn't want to be judged by random people, our society is too stupid.

    Apple TV, and I do enjoy it. But going to "rentals only" is sure a load of shit. I don't mind paying for TV I like, but if I am going to be forced to "rent" shows I'd like to watch a few times, I'll just go buy DVD's then.

    But, the netflix addition is nice, but they don't have enough content to view on demand anyway.

    Why should a public funded university not have to respond to such requests? Why, if I were to file a FOIA request for the same data would it be denied? My tax money has paid for it, I have every right as I do to FOIA the video tapes of a traffic stop.

    As such a website that so often cries for "free information" - it is amusing to see "zomg good!" due to the motivations behind the request and why it was denied.

    What is that? When I was younger I could code more, but I wouldn't say I coded better. Now I take my time and produce efficent, well documented, fully tested code - which functions 1000x better than my 'mass produced' code. Any *good* programmer programs well - not in volume.

    Any 50+ year old programmer should be able to keep up with 25yo programmers, knowing how to program isn't just knowing the ins and outs of the hottest language - it is knowing HOW to program so that you can swap languages efficently. (Yes, there is time to learn differences in languages, etc) But anyone worth their salt can jump where needed and go.

    Being said, if your first language was cold fusion and it is all you have done for the last 12 years, you may have a difficult time switching to C!

    I feel us programmers have gotten too far away from the lower level aspects of the craft and are now too higher level focused. While, this isn't a bad thing (why should you rewrite a framework everytime you start a new application) - it really perverts ones respects for how things work and efficency.

    I am getting back into assembly programming after 8 years of C# and it is a bit of a shift in thought. My college switched from C/C++ to Java my senior year for incoming freshman - a real shame. Programming is totally different when you have no respect of memory management.
