probably because it costs less money to pay out chargebacks and do nothing to help repair stolen credit compared to paying a swarm of lawyers to track down phishers
That you no longer have property rights to do what you please with your property you own. You can't build without a permit, you can't build without getting your plans ok'ed by local zoning boards. You can't develop on your land if it isn't zoned right.
The one thing that retains best value in America and you can't do what you please with it when you own it. Property rights are the biggest thing for a free society, without them you have nothing.
If you had proper property rights for land you own you wouldn't need the EPA becuase you could sue those big companies that polute your land and get the proper restitution for them destroying your land. But perversions in propery rights have made people dependent on the State to receive alimony for damages.
this is a good idea, besides the socialist factor played out here all the time.
Face it, you are giving government control of the medium. You are giving them the power to censor the internet when they control it like this. You are already seeing the FEC trying to graple the internet for political speech (which the 1st ammendment is there to protect at its BASE!!!). Giving the government the power to distrubute connections is tantamount to giving them the rights to distribute newspapers and sell "spectrums" for TV/Radio stations to broadcast on (whcih they already do).
Look where the FCC has gone with its control over that medium, they have been cracking down on "questionable content" for a long time.
there are far bigger problems we need to resolve on earth, such as oil dependency. if these countries dumped this money into a "alternative fuel race" instead of a space race, we would have more expendable income because we would be free from the harness of oil. lets worry about this planet first before we start wasting tax money again.
But how many government programs have been a success? They will mess this up, you can bet the farm on it. Governments made this mess in the first place by signing exclusive deals with only one provider and providing them with a monopoly. now look at what they are doing.
I guess you missed the whole election that was based off of fear. Americans need to grow a brain, my countrymen are worried about something that has little chance of harming them. Over the last 5 years you have a 400x more likely chance of dying driving to work than you do of being involved in a terrorist attack. they are bad, but they are not the threat they are made out to be to an individual. i agree terrorism is bad, but the government is doing nothing that will lessen my chance of being hurt by one.
To bad no one addresses the real issues, cable companies are given monopolies by the counties which they offer cable in. When i lived back in Maryland, there was one cable provider that only serviced 1/2 of my county, sadly i was part of their jurisdiction. They offered no real services beyond basic cable, yet that was all i could get. Why? becuase the county didn't want Comcast to have a "monopoly" over the whole county, so they banned them from my part. So, I couldn't have high speed internet because it was in my best interests.
When government stops protecting companies and allows FREE MARKET we will all prosper.
I am going to come up with the most ridiculous and obvious idea relating to computers and patent it, just to see if i can get something completely insane throught the USPTO. now, who wants to give me $350:o
I mean, it is seriously flawed. Why not dump it and design an optimal system that can handle the real world issues that pertain to email? We keep trying to patch a flawed system, it is only going to get worse. I realize many people have dumped a lot of money into email systems, but it is fatally flawed.
to become an economic powerhouse (well it is one now), it has a lot of growing pains to face in this century. no doubt they are going to become a superpower, but they have a lot of issues that are going to hold them back. once the people start to get some freedoms, it is going to be hard to stop them from wanting them all.
right now they are benifiting from cheap labor, what is going to happen when the people decide they want more for what they do? add on the social issues as well and they are in for turbulent times before they are a viable threat to america.
considering they have 4x as many people than us in an are that is a bit more densely populated

Oh I can just imagine 50 Cent and Big Tymers throwing "Longhorn" and "Microsoft" in their tunes when they sing about "bling bling"

if someone were to travel back in time and come to this event, they would be present, wouldn't they?
So if there is no one present from the future theoretically we never figure out how to transend time.
Or they don't care enough about this period of time

Be careful what you wish for.
They will be pressed with charges even though they had good intentions compared to hardly anyone getting caught with malicious intentions.
They have converted slashdot into their press release center, you always know what is going on with google!
as an excuse for a lack of innovation?
"we have reached the limits so don't expect innovation!"
1) find hot buzzword 2) form company using said buzzword 3) ??? 4) profit!
I love how this gets modded up on socialist /.

Japan is broke as well is the United States. How does japan plan to accomplish this feat? More debt i assume?

this will end up a mess.
Until you produce your above post in french as well, you can consider your warning null and void

it has been stated, no matter what side loses they will be rushing off to congress to solitify their "rights"
They have an impeccable record of getting things right. Look at Dafur, Rwanda, Sudan, Food for Oil. Lets hand it over!
apathy is going to be the death of the west

mutate back to the original state? could this be a possibilty at all to explain it? my knowledge of biology is limited so i have no idea

e-scrabble is sort of RETARDED. It would be like starting up a new websoftware company called eMicrosoft. OO i wonder who would sue me then!
It may be a good piece of software and i doubt they could sue for the game idea. Rename it possibly?

I can see the title of their chapter "Downloaders are dirty thieves."
