Have you visited the steampowered.com forums? I'm sure if BF2 used a steam-styled patching method we'd have a whole lot more people complaining than what we have now...
Personally I play BF2 online most days and it is a lot of fun. However, that's possibly because I play on a couple private servers - when I do join public ones (usually to get my rank up) the quality of play does go down significantly. It's extremely hard to find a server with anyone that uses a mic, it seems.
I think you're generalising a lot here. There are some very professional mods that aren't just for hardcore "dorks".
Natural Selection for HL is one of my favourites, and Alien Swarm for UT2004 is another very well done mod. Hell - look at Counter-Strike.
Not to say that most mods never make it. You're comment "most mod teams come up with grand ideas, get = ~10% finished..." is dead on the mark.
Man. What the hell is with you. The next ten posts following yours are all from idiots who failed utterly in their attempt to have a witty first post, who didn't even read the summary let alone the article.
And yet you pull out an insightful reply, while beating everyone else to FP? Well... the slashdot world needs more people like you. Right on.:)
I've done the same thing myself actually, but I'm colourblind and the light was dim (thats my excuse...)
I spent far too much time on that site :(
Safe to say that the torrent community has gone downhill since, I'd say.
Mine sure seems like a cage at times...
Oh... I stand corrected :(
Looks like the US doesn't always stand alone against terror.
Why not? I bet the Iranian government has their hands full fighting criminals and the like to bother what software I install on my computer.
Re: your coinmill link in your sig...
Doesn't Google do that too?
No wonder I've been doing so bad. Must have had the *non-lethal* lightning gun equipped!

I like it how he points out grandparent's error and the complains about how people always point out errors.
I learned so much from that show...

Maybe even the JFCCNW.
Pretty sure its out for PC, too. Least its on the torrent sites.
Quick question, if a flash ad gets hidden, does it still play? I.e. will I still hear sound?
* Plus I read it on Slashdot yesterday!
Think of the bible as the world's best written chain letter :)
Haha, that's a very interesting way of looking at it
but I also don't see how the earth could have been crapped out by a passing space turtle Evidently you have not read Terry Pratchet...
Receive a free lawsuit at the door! While supplies last!
I have a friend that does it quite regularly.
*shudder*... ugh, sure don't want to end up like him.
After close examination of your Java code, I think I've found the reason you were having some problems.
Or is it...sentient? :P
:/
Yup. The irony is, the CPU time it takes to keep this artificial intelligence running nullifies the effect of dimming pixels you aren't reading

and that's the exact problem of high real estate prices. it's the base of the economy (the people with one or less houses) that really suffer.
Haha, that was my ringtone for ages :)
Now it's Saria's Song from Zelda64. Which is also pretty hard to beat. And boy, the chicks LOVE it.
Just a slight delay between the topic being posted and the actual content of the article, AFAIK.
Seems a little strange, but it's probably because of the massive amounts of traffic Slashdot gets.
