.local is pretty easy to handle on the Macs now. On 10.3 you had to make a custom resolve.conf file. On Tiger though you just set your.local domain as the first search domain in the network prefs. Done.
I didn't see much Apple hype actually. They held the event in a tiny little auditorium at One Infinite Loop, they didn't invite many people, and they didn't hold it at a major conference.
The hype I saw was coming from media outlets like CNN, CNET, and all the Mac news sites; not from Apple.
The reason RE:4 slips between the two so easily is that it isn't CGI. It's all done in the game engine.
That said, if you played the game from the beginning you would have no problem telling when it was game and when it was cinema. Really it only would show a cut scene when introducing a new area, enemy boss, etc. It's pretty obvious when it switches control back to you as it resumes the regular play FoV.
One of the best Zen experiences I've had with a game was watching my gamer-savant buddy clear Radient Silvergun on one credit.
If you think Ikaruga is great you should play the original.:)
I've been meaning to get the SNES and NES emus loaded up on my DS, but I'm having too much fun with new stuff right now. I'm assuming there will be a lull in the DS games again at some point and I'll hit the portable emu then.
Who doesn't? Games should evoke a range of emotions. One of the strongest I've felt was the sense of wonderment the first time you walk into the fountain of the Great Fairy in Zelda Ocinara of Time.
If the only emotions in the games you play are anger and rage then you are really missing out.
Nintendo didn't allow red blood in the SNES version of Mortal Kombat. The SEGA version had red blood and it wiped the floor with the SNES one. Nintendo didn't make that mistake again.
Oh, Conker's Bad Fur Day was from Rare, not Nintendo. It is a fantastic game that is adult in content but not for blood and gore or even really sex. It has been re-done on the XBox now. I might need to go pick it up one day.
But the M rating is already supposed to limit the game to non-minors. Where I live in NC places like Best Buy card you when you purchase a M rated game. I got carded to buy GTA: Advanced and I had both my kids with me.
I heard Schwarzenegger on the radio and he was saying that when he was an actor he felt that the ratings system kept kids from seeing violent content, and stating that games needed similar ratings.
Um? Hello? You mean like the ratings system they have now? The one that is more granular that the MPAA system? With movies I get a general "R" rating. WIth games I get a breakdown of what that "M" is for, similar to the TV ratings system.
So do the people who come up with this stuff simply not realize that there has been a game content rating system in place for YEARS now? If not, that's just woefully ignorant.
The PS2 version is full of jaggies too. While it does run at 60 fps most of the time it suffers from noticeable slowdown in places.
The DC version stays smooth for the entire game and looks better as well. Frame rates aren't everything you know.
Bah. The DC version of Rez is superior. You just need to be prepared to pay for it on eBay.

Doh!. I didn't even notice that there were two reply choices now.
Erm. The Gamecube control has two analog sticks, as does the XBox controller...
It's the company cafeteria at 1 Infinite Loop.
Well, to be fair it's across the hall and about 20' down from Cafe Macs.

Yeah the interactive scenes are not so much a RE:4 innovation as they are a Shenmue innovation with its QTE cuts.

Still a stunning game.
The one's I messed with on the show floor at MWSF were very quiet. FWIW, the only loud G5 iMacs were defective ones.
The regular stages are 2D, with a tiny polygon Sonic and a few 3D elements tossed in. Boss stages are 3D.
The Sonic title that was just released on the NDS is 2D, but one of the best Sonic games ever.
Don't forget the ultra-rare Hi-Saturn Navi. I would think it pre-dates this by quite a bit.
The worst part of all of this is that the e-mail messages he put on the blog were all top post replies!
For the love of all there is, wipe out top posting now!

They are discussing the launch lineup of games on the linked page. Nothing more.

I love throwing my Dreamcast on a VGA display, some games have flaws at the higher resolution, but most look stunning.

IIRC, the TCP stack will be carried by the game. So while the DS OS might not have TCP/IP, the games can.
Well, UNICEF took out the Smurfs just to be safe. read about it here.
