More than likely he will have them send the money via Western Union over the course of a bunch of transfers and pick it up with a fake ID or several, from a (the stupid, less secure way) from many random and differing locations, OR use WMZ or another digital currency, bounce it around via several accounts, have it cashed out in a random east european/asian county, convert it to a different currency, and then deposit it into an offshore bank account of some sort.
There are plenty of secure and anonymous ways to transfer money. I'm sure he's not stupid enough to do a direct bank transfer using a legit bank or have them give him probably marked paper money.
Since piracy is not the only way to get the game for free (eg. I could share a friend's legit copy when he's not playing it -- because it's not like there are so significantly few sales that you can't find someone who has it), I would still say it holds true that piracy isn't hurting sales.
Even if there were a magic bullet to end piracy, there are ways to easily avoid paying, and therefore I highly doubt that 90% of revenue is lost due to piracy.
how a worker's profession impacts this figure. I'm a web developer for my company, and as such spend ALL my time online. I'm the type of coder who can do in an hour (sometimes even less) what takes others a day, or in a day what takes others a week.
My tendency is to code for a couple hours, and then spend the other 7 hours surfing the web (9 hour work days; 8-5) since I'm out of work early in the day.
I agree that workers should be paid on how much they do rather than their hours. I could come in, do my job, get paid, and leave. ..have some personal time with my friends and family, or even go work another 2 hour shift and get paid just as much. Great way to pretty much set your own hours too, or great incentive to work hard instead of putting in the bare minimum.
The only downsides I could see are these:
1. You're not there for the entire time, so if a client has a problem at 4 pm and you're gone already, they would have to have your cell number to reach you. Being on call constantly would suck, especially if I chose to take another job with the extra time I had. (I guess being on call is why they pay me those other 6 hours. ..)
2. Boss loses money. Think about it: if a client agrees to pay for a 5 hour block of time for me to create a web survey with validation and all that, and I do it in 30 minutes, that's 4.5 hours my boss sold that he's making extra. Of course, I don't see a dime of it.
I guess I'll be buying from Dell from now on. I tried to get the "Windows Tax Refund" from HP after buying a machine pre-installed with Windows from them, and they were very rude and in the end would not refund my money.
Buying a machine with Linux preinstalled provides a financial backing to an alternative choice, namely the ability to buy a machine that doesn't come bundled with an operating system you will not be using. Unfortunately, many vendors do not offer this option, or the even better option of buying a machine without *anything* pre-installed.
Dell doesn't seem to be advertising this thing at all, and the fact that you actually have to jump through some hoops on the website to even see that the option is available, makes me think that reason 2 isn't entirely impossible either.http://dell.com/
Not sure which dell.com you're talking about, but the first thing I saw while going there is a big advertisement saying "By Popular Demand Ubuntu has Arrived." After refreshing a couple times, I noticed that this isn't always what's displayed, but the fact that it's one of about four advertisements displayed on the front page suggests that they are doing anything but avoiding advertising it. Try refreshing a few times, they're advertising it just as well as anything else. ..right on the front page.
When the atoms in the mirror are slowed down enough, interesting effects such as quantum entanglement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Entanglement between the light and the mirror can be observed. Using an object which is highly reflective allows them to study phenomenon which would otherwise be unobservable.

Replace current Captchas with P = NP problems. That'll keep 'em busy!

Does this mean I'll be getting less spam? Will there be any noticeable difference?
