One problem with the services model is that it is based on the idea that you are giving customers crap--because if you give them software that works, what is the point of service?
Remember kids, reducing languages to the lowest level a computer can understand it can slow down your developing speed up your applications 100s of times!
".NET/C# is a language for programmers who are at least mediocre"
I'm trying to make sence of you post but i can't. Why are you lashing out? It's almost as you are jealous of the peopel that write.NET/C# for a living. Why? And why is it a language for mediocre programmers? It simply have a higher level of abstracion then say C. And using tools whit high abstracion level makes you a bad programer? I'm sorry but i don't get. What about Java then? Is it not the same thing? Why this elitism?
"bother to learn some language that's going to enslave them to one company's technology forever. It's senseless."
The thing is that you don't have to. If you know the basic consept of OO your good to go.
"It's just a much a dead-end as.NET."
You never tried.net have you? I will develop for linux the ns there is a framework as STABLE and fresh as.net for it! And MONO is a god send!
I live here and we have our share of stupid and retarted politicians that have no clue about the real world!
And taxes did i mention taxes... 32% income tax, 25% sale tax, and the eployer must pay the govermant 30% of your paycheck before it's tax to the goverment just becuse he whants to pay you to work for you.
A consumer in sweden pays about 50% tax overall. And if you stupid enuff to start a buissnes you get to keep 1/3 of what you sell.. the rest is tax..
But that is the smal problem the real problem is the polar bears that are roming the streeets eating children..:P
This is a most exelent littel movie clip that explains the issues in terms a non computer geek can understand. It well made and it realy points out the real issue. Trust...
I have first hand knolage of this. We had exeange studens from India at my Uni and OMFG. They where on the 4 year they where at the the level we where 2 weeks in at year 1.
Example:
If there is a short on the wireing board you do not use the current limiter to regulate the voltage. Thats like putting the pedel to the floor and using the break to controll the speed.
I'm a firm believer in that treating problems as challenges or opportunities is fundamentally flawed. By ignoring the fact that it is a problem and reformulating it in to the form of challenge puts pressure on the individual that's doing the work that has a problem to solve it regardless of the difficulty; this in turn leads to stress and high staff turnover.
(Note I do not claim that I have figured out this, I had a brilliant (understatement) teacher at my University that presented this idea (In Sweden))
A better way to look at it is:
If we regard the average work day as obstacle course and problems we say obstacles that needs to be navigated. If we call the obstacles challenges we naturally assume that we can not remove or in any other way change the difficulty of the course. A better way to se it is that the obstacles are indeed problems and problems can be removed or altered to less of a strain on the people navigating the course. Managements real job in this obstacle course model is to remove or alter the problems (obstacles) so the workers don't need to navigate at all (ideal). The bad management type is the drill sergeant ones that do not reshape the obstacles but demands that you navigate the same course every single day.
Further more I clam that you as a person only effect 20% of the outcome of work the rest is governed by external prerequisite. (We assume the worker is motivated and doing a good enough work)
It now becomes apparent that the drill sergeant manager can only affect 20% of the outcome of the work. And if he pushes the effect of the individual above 20% this will lead to stress and high staff turnover. Where the "real" manager can effect 80% of the outcome without wearing out the staff.
And I claim that:
Perfect+Perfect=crap
And
Good enuff + good enuff = perfect
Now plz flame me.
