I didn't even know that, hmm. I guess AMD is doing another thing right.
Before my motherboard inexplicably died (not really, probably overheated) I was using an XP2400+ CPU, the 32bit kind. So I wanted a new processor and had about $120 to spend and the Athlon 64 3000+ was out of stock. So I grabbed a Sempron 2800+ and wondered, this thing is clocked at 1.6GHz and I wondered if the numbering scheme actually meant higher performance. Well, as far as I can tell it does. It feels just as fast as the old CPU at 2.0GHz. And I've also noticed that all my burners perform at their advertised speed instead of 2 or 3 times slower than aftertised on the old system.
Nothing. It's similiar to gun legislation or Microsoft product activation. If you want it, you're going to get it. It only hurts law abiding people.
Also, I think we should all take a moment to cross our fingers and hope that this new fangled thing called "common sense" will really catch on with the general public.
I think you've hit on an important point. Its the difference between astronomers and astronauts. The pure mathmaticians are astronomers because the ideas focus on the abstract and applied mathmatics focus on things with immediate use.
One of my favorite math classes was trig because I could quickly apply the ideas to real life. The first thing I did when learning "Soh Cah Toa" was to measure the hight of my apartment building using a tape measure and a protractor.
Honestly, I like WMP...6.4. It comes with XP but you have to go to the program folder to even find it. Then install some codec pack and you're all set.
Then after a while I realized I used VLC more, plus it can play files that "need extra help" because they're incomplete.
Awesome, I didn't know Firefox was up to version 5, nor that Thunderbird is at version 8. I wonder how they got there faster though, since firefox came out first.
Jeez, that happened to me about 2 or 3 times, to my parents too.
I wasn't scared that it was numb. But I can tell you it was scary as hell when it moved involuntarily in a dark room. There's nothing quite as embarassing as slapping yourself in the face...and not seeing it coming.
This is NOT easier for the end user. Ever try to explain to someone that their desktop is really C:\Documents And Settings\Their Name\Desktop? I would sacrifice a small woodland creature if $Desktop Enviornment was divided into/usr/bin/home. Even better, make that the default install choice.
Most athiests or agnositcs, I'm generalizing form myself, believe at arriving at a set of ethics by themselves. A fair amount of these come from morals we have been raised with, ie: don't kill, don't steal. But others come over time, ie: choosing to believe if drug use/abortion/murder in self-defense should be acceptable to us.
So in my mind, any athiest who says its ok to kill someone based on scientific theory is someone who is just looking for an excuse to get away with murder much the same way a religious zealout would kill themselves or others because god said it was ok.
A person's true character comes through no matter what they believe.

"It even skips past Ardamax Keylogger."
It doesn't for me, which is very annoying. I like having that functionality there to see if someone is using my PC.
I also use it on my parents machines so I know what websites that they go to (in case one of them FUBARs their PC).

So?
She was using Word. Everyone, *everyone* knows that you should CTRL+S in word. She wasn't using emacs.
Being paranoid about your data is what keeps it safe, not some software feature.

Yep. For the first few minutes everything gets piped into /dev/null.
Jeez, that happened to me about 2 or 3 times, to my parents too.

Yep. Now instead of hinting at it directly, they have analysts suggest it instead.
I honestly think it will take a long time for Dell to *actually* start using AMD processors. As you already know, its happend many times already:

Will this let 3rd party developers access the APIs to implement their own things?
I know I liked when google added widgets.
OT: Why does it seem that Ellen Degeneres is advertising many things nowadays? (Eg: West Wing, AMEX, Yahoo)
The AHRA giveth, the DMCA* taketh away.
*At least for DRM'd music.
Actually, it's either:

Shouldn't they be considered RAD instead? After all, they're not exactly inexpensive.
I'd suggest RAED, but that just looks like a typo.
So true, maybe you should read Tau Zero, if you haven't already.
Aside from valid ecological concerns, there are also mechanical concerns.
Salt water and weather in general will do a number on these devices. Waves cause variable pressure on this device and salt water is very corrosive.
Still, its a better choice than tide differential generators, which would die much faster due to moving parts.
Suing the dead hmmm?
I guess paying up to the RIAA might indeed cost an arm and a leg (maybe a lung or a kidney).
Oh, I'm so sorry, but I couldn't resist.
This law would pass at just the time that porn is made illegal, which I think we realize will be never.
But I've always had a more direct question: Why does anyone even try to pass such laws? What problem does it prevent?

Fair enough, turns out you need a cell phone:

Thanks for correcting me, I need to update my links now.
I just don't think he's been paying attention, besides, you can get a gmail address WITHOUT an invite nowadays:

The link is in my gmail sig, which I now use exclusively for email.

I hate to pull a "me too", but: me too.
I like the fact of having firefox, thunderbird, gaim on Linux/Win/Mac. It did't drive me away from windows, but it did pull me towards linux.
