Actually the lady refferenced in the article did use Vonage, and its 911 service only played back a recording to tell her to "hang up and dial 911". After the third try she went to a neighbors house
Why do HD receivers still cost more than the average ones? The cable plans with HD are more than the ones without..Getting the Screen cheaper is great, but there are still a lot of costs associated with HDTV which end up being more than Joe Sixpack can't afford.
the cashier may have been stupid, but what cop would lock you up for using $2 bills? Shouldn't a government employee know of such dominations? I was under the impression cops need evidence before arresting you.
I would say that's a bit paraniod, and possibly based on some educational time spent watching the sci-fi channel.
PFFFT!!! GIVE ME A BREAK! You want the truth!?
I predict the following Prophecy:
Years from now we will have enhanced ourselves to the point where our skulls grow large and our eyes turn black. We no longer need to speak with our tounges, rather our minds. We no longer use sex as a means to reproduce. We have geneticly engineered ourselves to do things even I, Prophetic Truth, can not invision. BUT THERE'S A FLAW! A horrible flaw which can not be fixed by our future selves. A flaw of such consiquence that it will wipe out our species.
Once you start minipulating genes you're acting as god. Short term good may come of it, but the potential to screw up is an inevitable human trait..If we screw up here, we screw up bad.
OT: Anyone else noticed slashdot's 'free day pass' where u watch an ad then you get a free day of slashdot subscription? The thinkgeek ad was pretty funny.
I remember a similar device being pitched during the early 90's. They would air their commercial and my grandmother (god rest her soul) would always ask for one. We never got her one, after some research it turned out to be more complicated than the regular remote.
I know the term has been bastardized and now encompasses a wide range of activities. However, this seems more like fraud than hacking to me. The term social engineering should be applied to obtaining information that deals with technology, not having someone change a grade. You could 'social engineer' clearing out your school by calling in a bomb threat, but that's hardly hacking...
AstWind using colinux under windows and AsteriskWin32 using cygwin under windows are two ways to get asterisk to run under windows. Basicly if you want to run asterisk under Windows it will involve using a linux emulator, with no hardware support, and lacking a lot of features (no conf!). I would suggest using a Asterisk bootable CD if you're curious about Asterisk.
They create a batch of processors; from that batch they test a percentage for speed. Some batches perform better than others and get higher ratings. Sometimes your batches are all really good, but the market requires something cheaper, so you underclock some good processors and sell them for a lower price.
Don't start jumping up and down. This won't be the end of the broadcast flag...

It gives someone the oppurtunity to look at the scientist and state: "THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!"

Would someone please point out the benefits of running a dual core as opposed to your run of the mill dual or quad motherboard?

Time travel, anal probes, and sperm collection.
The Prophecy has already been fulfilled
