Generally I don't like how Valve uses Steam to monitor even single player play, but considering that there has *yet* to be a pirated release it seems like they may be on to something.
The game rulez and it lives up to the hype. I thought I was floored by doom3, HL2 with its wide open areas that run fine even on my modest system, loaded with action, vehicles, a plot that rivals blockbuster movies, its just great. Go get it now.
My one complaint, it seems like there are more loadpoints than in HL, but considering the fun and vertigo I've been experiencing these past 2 nights I'll deal with it.
it didnt work out as well as they had hoped. Limited memory and network bottlenecks made it good for some but not all crypto cracking, and not much else. They also don't think it would scale past 16 nodes. The article concluded that its more cool to use an xbox as a MythTV frontend rather than to make a cluster.
I think your analogy is seriously flawed.
Google is not a form of government. No one is forcing you to use google. There are other alternatives to google, which ppl in China lack. You even have the right to express your dismay of google right here on/.!
So kerry didn't use fear in his campaign? I beg to differ!
Kerry's scare tactics included: If you're black you won't be able to vote! If you're old you will lose your SS check! If you're young you will be drafted! If you're employed your job will be outsourced!
The problem is an elitest attitude that doesn't recognise its own problems.
Non-partisan?
An MIT/University of California graduate, who is a Professor, who left the United States to live in Amsterdam, whose favorite reading material is the New York Times, LA Times, and Washington Post. A man who openly disagrees with Bush's policy. An excerpt:
"If other countries won't help out, Bush is going to be faced with an unpleasant choice: accept another Vietnam-type quagmire lasting for years or reinstitute the draft. There is no way we can win in Iraq with current troop levels. Something has to change. More of the same won't work. And it is an open secret that after the election, Bush is going to ask Congress for another $70 billion down payment on Iraq. Who is going to pay for it? We are."
Yeah this guy can be counted on for complete unbiased coverage!
yeah, but haven't you noticed most ppv movies have hit the home market via DVD or VHS prior to airing on PPV? This is do to the movie execs knowing that once its on PPV it can be taped. I've always been able to use my VCR to tape PPV movies and Events, why would I limit myself with Tivo when another pvr will let me do it.
,i>Because the war news is being controlled by spin doctors, not being reported in the sense that you and I think of reporting.
You mean with your spin?
Why are we not directing our massive GNP towards scientific exploration such as studying genetic therapies to cure the rift raft of ailiments that curse mankind instead of fighting petty wars against a minor enemy "aka terrorist".
One's natural causes, the other is a crime.
People tend to be more outraged at crimes where there was choice involved, rather than a death by natural means.
Both being preventable they all should direct focus. There is work being done, but how much did the stock market drop after the year's cancer/ diabetes deaths?
low priced x86 cpu/mobo/mem combos are great "extra" boxes. Something like a car pc, or mythtv, or a mp3 box like outlined in this recent story, a MAME arcade, home automation, kitchen pc, toliet pc (slashdot from the throne), asterisk pbx, the list goes on and on.
I remember people were touting BPL as being an easy last mile solution before I had cable/DSL access available to me in the mid-90's . It sounds great, but BPL has been vaporware longer than Duke Nukem Forever. BPL could have been the number one provider, but now with DSL and cable so widely available it seems like it will never take off except in the most rural of areas.
We will engineer super intelligent beings that have giant heads and perfect vision in all light spectrums. The human race will eventually evolve (die out) into this new race only to find out that genetic mutations will kill off their existence! So they develop means to travel back in time and kidnap goatse.cx guy so they can anal probe him!
The reasoning for the anal probe is obvious: It's so the future big-headed, grey-skinned, lanky humans can figure out how not to die. Don't feel sorry for goatse.cx guy either, not only has he secured the existence of the future human race; he became famous from his after-probing disorder.
that release was nuked scenewide because it didn't work properly.

Read it for yourself
it went like this..
"DA-DA, where's MA-MA?"
you can already do this using an asterisk pbx and a VoIP provider. Although once this starts being abused I doubt it will remain a feature.

it's only fitting that when I clicked this article it read "Nothing for you to see here. Please move along."

its split up into episodes, its a series dvd rather than a 7 hour film. Sorta like the family guy deal

No, Not really.
I'll tell you what happens!
