Sounds like someone needs to revive Wally Hickel's water pipeline to Cali idea from back in the 90's.
At least there the State was to sell the water to Southern Cali.
Shorter trip and probably much more doable than shipping to the mid east.
And this year they said we would be lashed by massive hurricanes.....so when is this supposed to start?
Science is not exact when it comes to climate and weather.
All the computers said this year would be the worse for hurricanes and yet we have seen them but they obviously havent listened to the National Weather Service and come ashore with cat 4 winds.
So if the computer models they used are so off am I to believe that the computer models the climate experts use are 100% accurate?
Personally I dont think so.
I moved to Texas and signed up with Suddenlink.
Got a wireless router with no set up involved, 200 cable channels, 8Meg internet (usually 10) and unlimited phone for $105.
When they said they would be out they showed up. No 11-3 or 12-4 they gave 2 hour windows for service time.
I have only had 1 interruption of service (30 minutes) and it was because of Ma Nature.
Seems they place crews in various location when they expect trouble so they can respond quickly.
Compared to GCI in Alaska this is a breath of fresh air.
Try further north my friend.
The Panhandle is, for a better phrase, flooded with those of the religious right persuasion.
In Amarillo alone there are over 400 churches and is stanch republican territory.
The further south you go the less religion plays a role in life. Once you pass by Dallas it is fair to say religion has very little say in anything.
A lot of those that download it also use flashblock or some other flash disabling program.
I have to have flash for a couple of University classes and I use flash block to only allow the universities stuff.
I have set up a couple hundred computers the same way.
Load flash and then block it.
Well if taxing is ok then why not adopt the Swedish style of take it all and we will take care of you.
Give up 75-80% of your income to the government in exchange for socialized everything.
Need a place to live, done.
Need a vacation for a month, done.
Need a heart lung transplant, well hold on a minute, you need to stand in line for that, done.
If you truly think you need someone to take care of you from the minute your born until they toss your ashes in a dumpster what in the hell are you still here for??
There are plenty of countries that will take care of you from the cradle to the grave, you dont need to be here.
This is like those Cali people that get fed up with the taxes in Cali, move to another state then start changing the laws there because they want it like Cali, then when the taxes are to great they pack up and do it all again.
Now, the question is, should anyone (such as potential employers) be able to Google their names and get a Wikipedia article naming them as murderers as the first hit?
Seems potential employers would learn of that when they read the application where it asks your last employer or where you lived for the past 10 years...
Oh I see that you did not write down where you were living for the past 20 years and I see you haven't listed a job in those same 20 years.
I see you checked the box that says you have a felony conviction.....
Actually TigerDirect has TigerDirect, TigerDirect for business, Infotel,CompUSA,CompUSA for business, and now circuit city. Each one sends the exact same ads, lists the same stuff but Infotel assigns you a agent that works with you.
All Tiger has done is to buy up old names that people knew and then use those names to sell the same products under.
Ah the wondrous FBI.
The ones that withhold evidence and consort with the DOJ to make sure it can railroad people and destroy lives.
The wonderful FBI and the DOJ the same ones that botched a simple ethics trial for a US Senator and instead
forced the AG to toss the case with prejudice because of so many misconduct violation.
The wonderful FBI that over uses force (see Ruby Ridge) to make a point.
The wonderful FBI that has a whistle blower that they blew the whistle on because he stood up to his corrupt bosses.
This instills in me suck a sense of security and comfort.
Wow are you behind the times.
Corrections has always been looking for a way to shave a penny here and there.
Inmates are routinely charged for incidentals like soap/toothpaste/toothbrush/etc.
Commissary goods usually by law have to be sold at the prevailing rate that they are sold outside the walls.
Luxury items like tv's...hmmmm when was the last time you saw a clear case TV? Radio? Of course they cost more.
Where a privately run prison makes it money is 1)lower staff pay,2)no bennies for staff,3)streamlined operations, and
4)large numbers of inmates.
Private prisons are not where a contractor walks in, kicks all the state workers out and takes over a prison.
They build them from the ground up using their cash. Some to the tune of 10's of millions of dollars.
Then they proceed to penny pinch everything from staff to food to which inmates they will accept from which states.
They like states that pay them high $$ and shun those that dont.
This is true, teachers have the copyright to their works, not to that of their students.
You still cant violate the protections of the Fourth Amendment - Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
To take someones property from their backpack without their permission would make any University President shake his head and call the lawyers for the expected fallout of violations of the 4th amendment rights of students.
This student should make it publicly known that the teacher has violated a students 4th amendment rights and that the student is looking for others to bring into a class action against the school for damages.
Bet the teacher will no longer do anything of the sort ever again.
I started out with 3.1. Migrated to W95 and thought that this was a good thing. Moved to 98 when it came out, was sort of like 95 but ran better. I moved to 98SE and thought hey I found the best. Skipped Monkey Excrement but jumped on W2K right away. Was impressed how well it did things. I stayed with it through SP4.
I did NOT move to XP because people like you gave it crappy reviews right out of the box. It was terrible, nothing is the same, 98 was better for games, I listened and believed your crap so I waited and finally made the jump at SP2.
You guys were full of shit. Even though I had an extremely stable setup in W2K SP4, XP was faster and better.
I learned not to listen to drivel and was testing vista when it came out in beta. I understood what M$ was doing(competing with Apple )(making it so a loser could run it) and took it for a spin.
I was testing it for a local college and running anything and everything they had on it just to find out what worked and what did not. I found which ones I could make run in compatibility mode and which ones needed to be tossed.
My boss didnt like the GUI, couldnt understand why M$ would change XP and decided he wanted nothing more to do with it.(he couldnt get his favorite game wouldnt play on it was why)
Once he was shown it worked he was all over Vista, thought it was the best.
Vista just worked for me. Not one single problem that anyone has complained about. Of course I knew and understood that when M$ said it needed more H/W than the other OS's I went and bought more.
Now W7 shows up, I jumped in on the beta. Running build 7000 now for 2 weeks. Yea it was built off of Vista UI but when hasnt M$ done that? Was 98's UI different than 95? was W2k that much different than ME? XP different than W2K?
Shows that they run with what works for them.
I know that there will always be the pisser and moaners that put everything and anything M$ down.
I know that there will always be those that just post to hear themselves think.
I know there are those that are still running W2K and posting that their vista machine sucks.
I just know that I refused to listen to your pissin' and moanin' and whining and complaining anymore.
Your worse than my MIL and she is the Queen of Pissin' and Moanin' and Squakin'.
Wake me when *nix garners more than 10% market share in desktops, wake me when Apple hits 20%, wake me when M$ drops to sub 50%.
Oh I run *nix and OS X and a sparc box so dont ride me for being a 'doze fanboy.
I just believe that I have to know enough about what is out there to handle anything tossed at me.
The problem you are going to have is this is a root kit and sorry folks 99.9% of the scanners out there will not remove the root.
It is a manual job.
When this first came out as the WinAntivirus it was also rooted and after 10 reboots it would then reinfect the computer.
Nice for a tech but crappy for the EU.
So your crystal ball can tell if this download is from an indie band that allows free downloads and RIAA music(or the equivalent in Europe)???
What are you using as my university would like to purchase this software to relieve us of having to worry about anything.
you did not read the whole thing now did you??,br.
The 9th Circuit, affirming an earlier District Court ruling in favor Diamond Multimedia, ruled that the "digital music recording" for the purposes of the act was not intended to include songs fixed on computer hard drives. The court also held that the Rio was not a digital audio recording device for the purposes of the AHRA, because 1) the Rio reproduced files from computer hard drives, which were specifically exempted from the SCMS and Royalty payments under the act, 2) could not directly record from the radio or other transmissions.
There are products out there that do a bang up job in securing a workstation.
I work at a small college and we use CenturionGuard from centuion technologies http://www.centuriontech.com/
Students and faculty can use the desktop, install software, change settings, and download what they wish. Just a simple reboot of the computer restores it back to your defined configuration without the risk of probable harm.
The same goes for Alaska. In defense of life and PROPERTY. No retreat needed.
Sounds like someone needs to revive Wally Hickel's water pipeline to Cali idea from back in the 90's. At least there the State was to sell the water to Southern Cali. Shorter trip and probably much more doable than shipping to the mid east.

No you must drive a wooden stake through its heart. When was the last time you saw a corporation with a heart?
A lot of those that download it also use flashblock or some other flash disabling program. I have to have flash for a couple of University classes and I use flash block to only allow the universities stuff. I have set up a couple hundred computers the same way. Load flash and then block it.
Just like the jury did when the lady burned her hoochy with hot coffee. Yeah tell me that some people who sit on juries are not mentally handicapped.

But I bet you get fantastic reception in the apt. Never a dropped call.

No.... Just as long as you keep buying our cars. and our porn and anime.

I live across from Redoubt.
...ok...
There are another 12 active volcanos in the area.
There is the valley of ten thousand smokes which is a super volcano (Katmia)there also.
I have been through several of these since '75. Augustine (three times) Redoubt (now the third time) Spurr, so it isnt anything special.
It does however give me a chance to sit on the beach and video tape the event hopefully.
So nothing to see here, go back to your wimpy ice storms and snow while we Alaskans handle the real manly stuff
There there now nothing to be frightened of...just a little volcano farting....

And in several states those who have past due child support are not allowed to have a passport or a DL. So how do those travel?
