I wonder how you would react if the House of Commons were to say that the e-mails are undeniable proof that global warming is a scam. Would you suddenly change positions? Or would you write them off just like the people on the other side of the debate will.
Both sides of this debate stopped caring about the facts a long time ago. Neither side will be convinced no matter what evidence is presented.
Imagine you are a layperson who doesn't understand the concepts involved. You see two ads; one that mentions they will sync the glasses for you, and one that doesn't mention syncing at all. Wouldn't you think that you better go with the first ad because you don't know how to sync the glasses yourself?
I hate spam as much as the next guy, but $1,000 per e-mail is just as rediculous as the rewards we are seeing for pirating music. Can't we work to solve this problem without making up huge numbers that no one will ever be able to pay anyway?
Results don't have anything to do with the moral argument. Proof that eating babies gives you laser vision would not lead to legalization of baby eating.
If you don't legalize baby eating, then only the criminals will have laser eyes.
But within five to 10 years the company promises to reduce the price to as little as $3,000
If that's true then anyone who buys one today is a fool. If everyone waits for the price to come down the company will fold. Seems like a pretty stupid thing to tell the media.
No need for a moral quandry. The yeast involved in bottle conditioning a beer generally consume all of the sugar long before the abv reaches a level that is toxic to them. Conditioning is more about carbonation than alcohol.
This isn't really a tragedy of the commons because the sugar in the bottle doesn't reproduce. No amount of rationing will save the yeast from starvation.
Well, I foolishly decided to do some fact checking after submitting my post and it turns out canvas is already supported on the iPhone. Excuse me while I pull my foot out of my mouth.
Apple does not allow any software on these devices that could be used to develop an application. They would not even allow a basic interpreter. If flash worked people would be able to develop applications for the iPhone without Apple's blessing.
Chances are they won't support things like the Canvas element in HTML5 either. Expect your browsing experience to become more limited in the future.
There's a reason why a 16 yr old is many times more likely to wreck a car than a 19 year old.
People driving for the first time being more likely to get into an accident than people who have been doing it for years doesn't have much to do with maturity...
It sounds like what you want is a netbook. Which of those tasks that you listed will be improved by a big touchscreen? A netbook will likely cost you a lot less and comes with a keyboard.
The only niche I see for tablets is applications that need to be portable and need to have a large touchscreen. Once something is too big to put in your pocket you're going to carry it in a bag that could just as easily carry something a little bigger/useful.
That is starting to go away though. Our last VAN transition required us to move from vanilla FTP to FTPS. Anything that falls under HIPAA, 835 remittance advice for example, can't be legally transmitted unencrypted either.
With Adobe Reader, the only thing preventing execution is a warning.
The only thing preventing your browser from executing a binary executable is a warning.

No, this is a knoife! Wait, what were we talking about?
Hmm... Theora perhaps?
That will still be encrypted. You should try something like dd if=/dev/dvd | emacs --decrypt-dvd --pop-popcorn --dim-lights > dvd.mkv
Apple sells more iPod and iPhone products in a single quarter than TiVo has sold in the entire lifetime of the company.
In other news, apples are selling twice as fast as oranges. More on this pointless comparison at 11:00.

Is it cool or is it whack?
I know how to handle this.
*clears throat*
It violently actuates the 'hizzy'.
Something tells me that if there was a license required for internet use the most common way to lose it would be involve bittorrent...
Making it so that states benefit from having more prisoners is a good way to get a lot of otherwise innocent people arrested...
Amazon has been selling e-book versions of Macmillan titles at a loss
Apple can do this, because they're not taking as big a cut as Amazon does
*head asplodes*
On the other hand, Microsoft is quite happy collaborating with the Chinese government in clamping on freedom of expression.
If only for that reason, you'll never catch me using bing.
Does that mean you stopped using Google when they were doing the same thing?

Anyone else notice that Knowing's rank seems inversely proportional to Rachel Getting Married's rank?
Whoops, you forgot the L in If I Remember Contract Law Correctly.
Video and sound are already transmitted together in over the air digital broadcasts. Why do you think this will be a problem for Intel?
I have always thought of programming as the art of converting caffeine into an executable. Coffee is part of the cost of doing business.
