  1. Mine on What's Keeping You On XP? · · Score: 1

3 desktops and 1 netbook at home.

1 desktop on Win 7, the other 3 comps on XP. Reason? No need to upgrade, they are working fine and do everything i need them to do (Games, Skype, Office, etc).

The only reason i upgraded the one was because I had a hard drive fail (yup, the system drive) and i thought "why not?"

Actually, found it to be quite decent OS. In some ways better than Linux :-P Only in some of course!

Used to have dual boot setup, now i have Linux in a VM... its not the same.

I do. Over the last 5 years there has been tremendous changes. There have been large clamp downs on corruption, investments are sometimes actually making their way to what they are intended for (instead of just going to give wife number 5 a new villa in Spain etc).

Its far from perfect, and still lots of problems, but its getting better.... which is more than i can say to the US, which just seems to be getting worse and worse.

Doesn't matter anyway. QE2, QE3.... won't be long before the whole Ponzi scheme that is the US economy (and largely worldwide) comes falling down.... then IP will take a large back seat to massive unemployment and starvation and other problems. Well, maybe i'm being pessimistic, but once you really study the whole financial system as things stand, you come to realize that its largely a house of cards that is mainly being held up by an illusion.

My kids use them mainly for recording silly noises and taking random photos, sometimes of themselves naked... i wonder if Nintendo are the proud owners of a huge pile of photos of naked children. Perhaps time to call the Department of Homeland Security and let them know that Nintendo collect "CP".

Depends on two things. How programmable the digital phones are, and how targeted they are. Seriously, some of the more basic phones with no real OS to speak of are going to get targeted because they are just used as phones, not used for example for online banking for example. Why even bother with them when you can swipe nice bank credentials.

We already have malware and other crap for mobile devices and the need for firewalls.... bet the anti-virus companies are wetting their pants over the move from mobile phones to mobile computers.

If i find myself in an emergency situation i'd like to be sure my mobile phone is working and not suffering from a plague of outbound traffic sending spam to half the world.

    C) If there were no US military there would be a lot more wars going on than there already are.

Oh my, you really said that?

The US has been involved in wars pretty continuously for the last half a century, a hell of a lot of which it had no business getting involved in, or more to the point, it bloody well started, half the time of very dubious premises.

I contend that the US is the cause of more wars, and a reduction in its scope would reduce the number of wars in the world.

We are of course both entitled to our opinions.

Regardless, if this motion passes I bet lots of consultancy firms get paid big bucks checking client's computers for GMT+2 "readiness". Hmm.... note to self.... take advantage.

Russia is considering reducing its number of timezones to 3 or 4 as i heard.
