I don't know the details but basically it is like this. High energy alpha-particles i.e. helium nuclei from the Sun hit the ground and embed themselves into the rocks. It may be not that strong a current but it accumulated for some millions years.
There is a helluva lot of helium on the Moon. Moon ground is soaked in helium if I may say so. May be this will give another boost to space program? And remember the Chinese are going to build a moon base. Prepare to buy helium from China.
Can we just start making keyboards without caps lock?
I'm not English speaker and use CapsLock to switch between latin and russian keyboards. CapsLock is ideal for that: it's big, easily reacheable and rarely used for other uses (duh!). Please, don't start making keyboards without CapsLock!
I'd say a 1.5 star rating is actually quite generous
Maybe, but to be fair the reviewer should be more inquisitive. As I read the article what I get? Two or three nitpicks, some minor complaining and bam! 1.5 out of 5! It's just not internally consistent, that is. If he wanted to give bad rating he could find more faults, everyone has them. But no. It's almost not supported. That's what surprised me.
No difference. The rulers are all the same, they just changed coats. Yesterday they were communists today they are democrats, but the laws and the practices stay the same.
Not really. As laws don't really work in Russia, they may confiscate servers with false suspicion of piracy and then return them (of course) but down time is too expensive to afford, so people just give bribes or shut down. And installing Linux doesn't protect you. There is anecdotal evidence the cops said "There is no 'My computer' icon on your desktop, so the software is pirated" and confiscated the computer. And yes, your guess is right, they had Linux with KDE on that box.
Exuse me, could you please provide me with some links on matrix multiplication cryptanalysis? That information on it's unbreakabilty is completely new to me. Thanks in advance.
slashdotters comment on science topics. Top comments are always "Funny" because no one really understands what it's all about and so everybody just makes stupid jokes instead.
Fever is body reaction to an infection. Body temperature rises to make intruding bacteries less comfortable. So doctors recommend not to use fever-reducing drugs and measures until body temperature is as high as 39 degrees Celsius.
The original "research" and the so-called "debunking" are total crap, to say the least. What the "research" shows is "Linux guys fixed more bugs than Microsoft's, and that means Vista security is good". Some kind of reverse Microsoft logic, or what? Given that Vista is closed source and Linux is open and considering the means for finding holes in proprietary software the number of vulnerabilities found should be at least tripled.
Now the "debunking". Just vague declarations. Only propositions like "they rewrote all the code so there MUST be more bugs". Well, maybe, but it's not a fact. Also the "debunking" really doesn't have ane figures. The microsoft guy at least shown some numbers on which he or we may base our conclusions. But debunking... It's not a debunking. We need an independent research like the MS guy did but we need to do it right. So that match is drawn at 1:1, but the time hasn't run out yet.
TFA says: Sun Microsystems announced plans to acquire MySQL AB.. Not bought yet.

Oh, that's just another trick to make you pay. New TV sets, new DVD players, totally new broadcating infrastructure... yummy dollars... err, yens.

Of course the customer can resell it, but he can't legally keep a copy for himself
Ok, so YOU too can't keep a copy of the software after you first sold it. Sell it once.
Additionally; software isn't a car. Cars cannot be easily copied.
So if they could, you'd advocate the freedom to copy them?
Why not? Wouldn't it be great if everyone had a car?
Well, maybe that means they prefer not to in the wild, but do it anyway when don't have choice in the captivity. Free will you know and stuff.
Seriously, Snow Crash is too unrealistic or maybe optimistic, but hacking into a mega corporation's network with a virtual sword was too much for me.
And I've heard about some million scale contracts were concluded in raids in WoW. Seriously.
And do you remember that some time ago they voted positive on M$ OOXML? Fishy.
And I thought "mobile" means "which may move around", and not "being tethered to a power outlet"

+1, Insightful.
Duh.
>Another chapter in the dick-comparing story between Russia and the USA.
So, finally it seems the Russians have a bigger dick!

I'm in google groupz finding ur postz
Americans shot themselves in the foot. No more cheap drives for you. And there is more to come, just you wait.
Means let them read it. I wouldn't let a stranger read my mail leave alone a spammer.

Bad TFA. No photos. Not everyone have the time and bandwidth to watch the videos, you know.
I second this. Or else I could create the same stuff with two coins, a lemon and a piece of toilet paper just now without problem.
