It means true for all possible propositions. Which in itself is incorrect, since we can't know if we know all of the possible propositions; the evidence is gathered inclusively. If we could know all possible propositions and was still true, then it would be considered a tautology... It would also have the title "Theory" replaced by "Law".
Yeah, it's against their EULA to sell a steam account; but just as you expected, it's completely unenforceable. They can get some sites to take down the listings, but they can't stop every means. And really the only way to trace it is if the person who bought it admits it on the steampowered forums.
I think the main reason why they don't allow the transfer of licenses is, because of the excessive convenience factor compared to any other distribution method, they are worried that steam would turn into just one big game swap and that sales would grind to a halt. Maybe some day they'll figure out a way to manage license transfers so it would still be possible without scaring off current or potential (software developer) clients.
First off, there really isn't much non-GM food left; nearly all of our food has been genetically modified... especially plants. You think a corn stalk always gave off that many ears? Well they haven't, because humans have been genetically modifying their food for centuries, mostly by selective process of what we wanted it to become. Any farmer back in 1397 could have done the same thing you're worried about now: unknowingly activated something unpleasant in the genetic code. It's just a matter of accidentally activating a recessive poisonous trait in that pear. You don't need a "genetic programmer" to do that.
But back to today, no their's nothing in GM foods that couldn't happen with our traditional foods. Additionally, (and despite how many times you said contrary to it,) GM foods are tested far more rigorously than traditional food. Go over to the FDA's site. You'll find plenty of articles of them evaluating specific GM strains.
But there have been no more terrorist attacks on the US during that time.
Correlation != Causation... Besides, the last time we were attacked by them before 2001 was in 1993. So if we were to assume another attack was imminent, projecting from the average of the two shows that it probably wouldn't happen again until about 2009 ((2001-1993)+2001).

By my calculations, the Dow Jones needs to shoot up another 6500 points by the end of this administration just to tie the Clinton one.
The military is stronger
It's money that could have been better spent on education or research projects that aren't intended to make a better way to kill people, but I'll give you that one. History has shown over many times that the intelligent usually fall to the armed and dumb.
The world respects our word ...No. Just no. Especially in comparison to the Clinton administration. I think (and this is just a hunch) that the average European would mind lying about sleeping with someone a lot less than lying about the reasons for invading a sovereign nation.
But yeah, truth (in the FOX News sense of the term) does in fact offend my liberal bias. Personally, I'm more of an evidence guy myself.
I think that the actual aim of SETI is lost on a lot of people. They're not looking for signals on with the intent that we'll ever meet anyone they find (not primarily anyway), they're just trying to find some sort of evidence that intelligent life exists somewhere aside from Earth. Odds are, any signal they discover will probably be a few thousand years old. By comparison of our own civilizations, the group that broadcasted that signal probably won't be around to pick up our answer when our response reaches them in a few thousand years.
In the mean time, we're still in a mixed free-market economy, so when money is spent on all of those radio dishes, it puts more money in to the R&D of them. Then there's also the concept of grid computing that SETI greatly helped popularized.
Even if they don't find anything, we still benefit; so yeah, it's worth it.
Looks like our situation is much better; 3/3 of our department can name the IT policies we're breaking... but that's not completely fair of a comparison since we are the IT department.:)
First, I keep seeing that the issue Linux has is that the desktop environments are not feature and behavior equivalent to Windows. That's a problem, because if you define Perfection to be "Windows+A few gimmicks", then Linux can never win, because it will always fail the first requirement.
And second. Can we stop blaming Linux for desktop inadequacies? The graphical admin tools are the responsibility of desktop developers who support the platform. How Linux takes heat because there's no system configuration for feature X in kcontrol is beyond me... oh yeah, because no one can remember what Linux is. Due to years of misnomers, people not well versed in the OSS world think Linux is the whole system. As much as I find this obnoxious, I wonder if people should have listened to Stallman and called it GNU/Linux; that or have just hidden the kernel name from the project name altogether.
It seems to me that Gabe must have decided some time ago that PC gaming on anything but the Microsoft platform is an inherent failure. If he actually had any interest in making his games multi-(PC)-platform, then maybe demanding Apple pay Valve $1 000 000 000 USD for just the rights to port HL2 probably wasn't the best start. And frankly, it's just sad when you see announcements like these, showing just how more proactive other people are about making Valve products available to new markets than Valve is itself.
I'm starting to think that internally at Valve, their real stance on this is, "Why bother to support them, when they'll gladly hack compatibility for themselves?"
Lets all come back to this post in 10-15 years so we can have a good laugh about it; Think about it, 15 years ago the 66 MHz Pentiums were first unveiled...
Future Selves: "A Core 2 Quad was all he'll ever need?! Man that thing would barely be able to open a notepad nowadays; well, after it spent 2 months booting the operating system anyway.:)"
Yeah, that's great and all, but if they're going through the effort of adding so much to the engine, why not just make a full-fledged game? From the consumer perspective, TF2 is the actual game being released, and portal and EP2 are just tech demos.
Hmmm, I vaguely remember that expression used in a politicsical setting.

It's title is a bit ambitious, it probably should be called String Hypothesis. :)
Not every attempt at system consolidation results in SkyNet!
In the eternal words (word) of Capt Picard: "Agreed."

Come on, it's the same people who were hit by a worm because they didn't apply Recommended Updates to their own servers. :)
They were busy building the damn thing :)
How could he? The lease was revoked!
You may want to multiply that by 1/(1-rate_of_platform_convergence) since your assuming no candidate has the same platform points.

Don't let George Costanza find out... he's been planning that since 1996: http://www.fandango.com/MoviePage.aspx?mlp_tab=movie_details&featureId=v292719&

Well, sometimes you need to take two steps back to go one step foreward... wait, what?

Why was that modded troll? It was a joke; he even said what he was referencing.
Personally, I'm glad it's no longer on FOX. Having it aired on comedy central ensures that it won't be randomly overrun by a football game.
What I want to know is who's voicing Megabyte?.. Tony Jay died about a year ago.
He didn't say he couldn't afford it; he said that he, cannot justify buying one... big difference.
:)
Don't feel too bad about it, though; Sony made the same mistake.
