The DOD rules for HDD disposal.
1. Triple Overwrite security erase.
2. De-gauze with a powerful electro magnet.
3. Crush drives with a cement roller.
4. Melt fragments into slag.
5. Bury Slag in a secure waist disposal site under a minimum of 6' of cement.
if the cbc makes an attempt to put their video online and encode it in an open format that would be pretty amazing and set quite an example for other public orgs...
it's been rather interesting to see the campaigns uses of technology this election... from blogs in the dem primaries to the databases and communication networks that were being used to drive the vote for the election... hopefully now that the people who make up the gov or at least aspire to are beneficiaries of these technologies they will think hard before trying to add useless regulation to them...
looks lit it will likely be made permanent in the second term... judjing by most of the comments in this thread there are some legitimate concerns over it's reach and use... it would be prudent for all the people who have expressed concerns here to contact their congressman and let them know...
Neat uses of existing technologies such as XHTML/CSS just put more focus on the need for standards compliant browsers like Firefox... However the likleyhood of IE7 conforming to standards doesn't seem too high since these very standards give people alternatives to products that are MS's bread and butter... I've seen some XULs that will bring the browser wars to a whole new level...
1MB may be amazing by todays standards but it's quite likely with constantly falling flash prices that we may see smart cards sporting 512MB+ in the near future... Possibly changing the way people use systems in corporate and public environments...

you think this would be obvious most of the people i know who are mac fanatics still have an x86 box that they turn on for games only... other people would never try a mac in the first place because it could never be their all-in-one solution
i hope we aren't monitoring this thing until the supreme court decides who is president. hopefully there will be a clear winner and we can all move on.

it is amazing to see that prices have come down so much that you can now get a top of the line dvd burner for under $100
once there are more people/companies that only buy hardware with oem open source drivers companies will rush to get their own drivers ready
