when napster got shut down it was replaced by 10 other services in 10 different jurisdictions and the publicity attracted people who knew very little about digital media... suddenly killing kazaa will fix the record industry's problems... how about not making crap... have they tried that??? (even though they're still seeing amazing profits)
if this is the next gen of the powerpc chip it's probably safe to bet it's only a matter of time before imacs and powerbooks are running these chips...
with 2 of the dominant game consoles and one large computer maker onboard how long before we see powerpc desktops competing with x86... better yet, how long before windows longhorn for powerpc ships (probably 2012)
the old upgrade or build new debate... technology has probably come a long way since hubble was built... and it would be a shame if it were updated only to have a new problem arise shortly after.
the dod's job isn't to make the world a cleaner place and protect from pollutants... environmental friendlyness is just a byproduct of their machine, it's highly unlikely that it was a prerequisite...
i'd be willing to wait any amount of time for a new gimp ver, as opposed to having to spend thousands of dollars on ps and have to deal with all it's quirks, at the price they want for it users should at least be able to make their own custom build so it doesn't waste soooo much space and have so many redundant functions
i can see why many people are frustrated... being tracked in places like supermarkets for worthless points is as annoying as being asked for your phone number when buying batteries (to which i always reply "i havn't had a phone for years") what is nice is if your past purchases of high end equipment are kept on record and you are eligible for substantial discounts (15%+)
just intsall all your codecs to play mp3, real media, quicktime, etc... and use 6.4 it seems everything that if you install quicktime/itunes, realplayer, wmp 10, you're left with a ridiculous amount of bloatware and all they do is fight for a chance to call home for one reason or another
microsoft is wise to throw some of the cash they generate at new technologies where they can be a monopoly for the forseeable future... the nice thing about being the biggest is if you're loosing one battle you can open up a dozen new fronts and change the rules of the game...
m$ has been in a downward spiral for some time... patent grabs and ip is their greatest hope for securing their revenu stream for the long term... open source is taking a bite out of their model and the move towards non proprietary formats and open source software at some companies cannot be hidden from the view of others... their best bet is to hope and work towards a day when you need to pay a licence fee to use an open source browser that uses a protocol m$ says they invented...
anybody wiilling to go on record on how long it will take to get any of these fixed and which company will be the first to take the initiative...
but it's probably still too little to late for borland
good questions and the answers are as amusing as they are informative (very... (clarification for the cynical crowd))
seems pretty amazing... i can only imagine how far this might come in the next few years...
i don't know how i feel about a vehicle that doesn't consume obscene amounts of fossil fuels...

next time i'm in nj i'll (nevermind).... atlantic city wins again.
they should just use most dsl providers fav metric... how many times faster than 28.8 dialup???
if you own the stock... sell it. if you own a mutual fund that owns the stock... sell it.
this company is so desperate and irrelevant it's just a matter of time before the courts bitch-slap it and it's forced to go into liquidation

hope it doesn't affect my satellite inter
seems handy but if the device is detonated by remote control it may not be the best idea to use an rc device in the area...

where's the story here...
i'm sure we're not too far from putting the u.n. in charge of space and having some interplanetary court...

I doubt there is much that an angry band of nerds couldn't accomplish... So hunting down spammers as a hobby/game could help put a dent in spam...
discussing the morals/ethics of this is fine, but isn't anybody just plain freaked out by this???

until someone who was recovering an animal (and forgets to disable the gun) gets shot by a hacker half way across the world

got them into the fiscal mess and now they think the same thing will get them out...
