How do you verify the accuracy of Slashdot stories?
We don't. You do.:) If something seems outrageous, we might look for some corroboration, but as a rule, we regard this as the responsibility of the submitter and the audience. This is why it's important to read comments. You might find something that refutes, or supports, the story in the main."
Thats one of the most amazing stories I've read in quite some time.. I feel motivated to fire up my *OLD* Mac(only Mac unfortunatly) and fiddle a bit.. Your insane man, yet strangely very cool.. interesting...
whoops.. messed up my links. Guess I should use preview. Here are the ones I wanted to throw in..
I was reading about volcanoes a couple months back when Mount St Helens http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/News/framework.htmlcame back to life and thats what I learned of Yellowstones history and how absolutelly massive it is.
I think its safe to say that Yellowstone is for the most part just one big freakin volcano. Thats the whole reason its a park, and why it has all the cool stuff. I wish I had known it was a volcano back when I visited as a we lad. I wonder why this isnt more widely known, its very cool stuff. I was reading about volcanoes a couple months back when came back to life and thats what I learned of Yellowstones history and how absolutelly massive it is. I cant find the site but it showed a good volcano rankin system with references.
marking the rise in Yellowstone's surface over the past year. Thats quite and impressive grow rate imo.
It would be splendaculous if Yellowstone popped within my lifetime.. the results mights suck though huh? =)
I regularly used Symantec Ghost at work which is indeed backup software. Its not a new area for Symantec .
Ghost is already awsome, and widely used in the industry. Hopefully this will bring in some new technologies to make it better yet. =)
Note: Norton Ghost is the home version.
It'd have to be Optimus Prime's severed arm with a big gun in hand doing the automated firing... and mounted to a flagpole or something if I remember correctly..
Isnt that how it was in an episode of The Transformers?
we already have anti-spam laws.. I dont know about you others states.. I believe its a $500 fine per spam message payable to the recipient of the spam. The problem is tracking the spam to its original source.
Ah crap.. I guess I should have said MOST MMORPG launches.. =)
I'm glad though to see the game launch smoothly. If I was lookin for a MMOG to play it would probably be that one. I enjoyed the beta.
I noticed on http://www.godaddy.com/ you can go through the transfer proccess for seemingly any domain you want without entering any information regarding the current owner. If you do this(and pay the few $$), then the real owner doesnt shootdown godaddy's request for transfer, it'll be transfered to godaddy correct?
At that point who would have access to the account details/ownership? The owner would need an account with godaddy in order to make changes, but if they are unaware of the transfer.. what then? Would godaddy create an account automagically and perhaps email the owner the account login/pass? If that is the case and the owner had bad contact info listed then the domain would sit stagnant for the next forever years wouldnt it?
... I think I'm missing somethin here...
Why do they call it "Performance Capture" when "Motion Capture" is the industry accepted term? Unless this is a new variation that I'm not aware of.
Regardless, while motion capture can do a wonderful job recreating the realistic movements of a body, it doesnt capture many subtle things. The primary thing in mind being facial expressions. There are methods for this, but does anybody know if they used them in development of this flick?
Motion Capture is great, and I dont believe is a bad excuse for good animators, but it cant be used by itself. You need the talents of skilled animators to refine the animations, add the subtle things that motion capture doesnt capture, and obviously animate things that werent motion captured.. like environments and whatnot.
Summary: Motion capture cant do it by itself. It needs the animators to fill in the many gaps it leaves./ramble off
I think the real question is, where did all the bush haters / kerry supporters go that you were only able to pull 48% of the vote?
The're just louder so they sound like a greater number. People who arent as upset with the current state arent as likely to be vocal.
Wow, that guy sure has his priorities straight... /sarcasm

Between this, and our 1 in 455 chance of a human species killing event with in the next 100 years http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/1 7/1453221&tid=160 ...(Yellowstone being overdue for a global smothering eruption and all).. we're pretty much screwed huh?

We'll see if they can avoid the opening day problems that always haunt MMORPG launches. =)

Is this corn stuff sturdy enough to endure intense office frisbee action?
