I'm sure many will rebuy the game to resubscribe, but not all are going to. It will piss of a buttload of folk and they'll move on to something else. I cant say for sure one way or the other because people rebuying is a good point I hadnt thought of, but it still is very likely a short term profit loss.
This is a short-term loss but may end up providing more profits in the long run. It can severely detract from a game when you see cheaters and gold farmers peppered throughout. Now of course there are still farmers and cheaters in the game but the knowledge that Blizzard is actively smiting these evil-doers is a good moral boost for those playing/considering to play that appreciate an honest game.
I myself like seeing this happen, regardless of whether or not its a significant percentage of the actual problem. If I had to choose between two roughly equal competing games and one was banz0rzing teh r33t h4xx0rz, while the other was just ignoring them, I would definatly favor the one actively whippin out the banhammer.
I wouldnt count on any defense device against incoming projectiles being very inexpensive. I think its awsome to develop and refine stuff like this. The early versions of everything are usually overpriced and have issues.
A peril of telecommuting for the employee is if you can telecommute 100% of the time, someone in india can do your job also... and for a lot less money. I wouldnt push your ability to do EVERYthing remotely... just maybe portions.
I worked with a gal a few years ago who had a similar thing happen with her pacemaker. We all kept our phones off, but occasionally someone would forget, or a service man would be unaware and have his phone on. She would look up a second or so before the persons phone rang and immediatly walk away from the area. I never really talked to her about it, but I'd guess its the same type of interference.
lol, I know what you mean. Most my buddies seem to exclusively use Push-to-Talk on speaker, when I think you can even do it in non-speaker-phone mode...
regardless, I just signed up for Nextel and got my phone yesterday... I hope I dont become one of... "those people".. =)
They did 20,000,000 on Sept 27, 2001

19 million Amps

Per this news release here this has already been done by the mentioned generator. They even use the tuna can size reference;
"In the shot, the 650-ton Atlas pulsed-power generator successfully discharged approximately 20 million amperes of current through an aluminum cylindrical shell or liner about the size and shape of a tuna can, causing the liner to implode at very high speeds.

One would think Washington State since D.C. wasnt specifically mentioned, however I've noticed people tend to omit this and assume readers just know D.C. was implied. Foolish writers. Write what you mean, so we can read what you mean.
Consoles wont take over the market. There are far too many games that just dont play well on TV. Plus consoles are just limited in a lot of ways.
The consoles always have an edge on graphics when release, but PC games catch up a year or so down the line.. then the consoles start to look dated again.. then screenshots for the 6th(7th?) gen consoles will come out and people will be saying, "WOAH! loook at dem purdy pictures! This spells the end for the PC gaming market. With the power of these consoles I could, dare I say it, Rule the WORLD!"
or something along those lines. This has all happened before and will happen again. PC gaming isnt going anywhere, nor is console gaming.
Well it was a Russian generator that broke down in the first place.. if the primary has flaws.. well I wouldnt be overly confident in the secondary unit.
Am I making fun of Russian quality..... I.. uh.......well, yes.
Go ahead and pay me $10,000 to my PayPal account and I'll get started right away. It'll be in the mail real soon! I can even through in a nucular mobo battery and wire it with a turbo button.
Beekman had its highlights but I prefered Bill Nye back in the day.. Mr Wizard was cool and is of course a classic, but a smidge boring at times.
Mr. Lizard on the other hand.. He's the best of them all!
Timmy: "Gee Mr. Lizard, what happens when I put nitroglycerin in a blender?"... moments later
Mr Lizard: "Looks like were gunna need another Timmy!"
The following is now on my cubicle wall. I thank you dtfinch for your glorious vision.
Prophecy of the Tiny Blackholes
These tiny blackholes will fall into the core of the earth, and slowly grow one quark at a time, but at an accelerating rate. In a 100 million years or so, it'll come back to haunt the descendents of the super dolphins that'll overthrow the advanced alien race that'll conquer the robots that'll destroy us.

We arent animals. Using their actions to rationalize human actions doesnt work.

Are you say we, the US, will be attacked and defeated by a barrage of boards with nails in them!? Crap!
*begins working on a bigger board with a bigger nail in it*

Go TP their HQ, and drain the oil from their cars.
