Well, unfortunately, this "money" you speak of is not of infinite supply. Some people might make decisions on principle, but most people either can't be bothered or simply can't afford to. Life usually isn't that convenient, and companies know it.
There are millions of websites that stream or (temporarily or not) store content on your computer. While '3 strikes and you're out' sounds relatively fair, I have to ask - at what point is it still considered fair use? Because if it's not expressly defined, any website that has a copyright on its own images used on that website could get any of its visitors in trouble. Worse yet, visiting any MySpace profile with copyrighted music would mean downloading that music, and could possibly get you in trouble. Worst-case scenarios, yes, but things like that need to be addressed.
Okay. I just -have- to paraphrase a part from Cage's movie, Lord of War. For the uninitiated, Cage plays a weapon smuggler that borders between legal and illegal, and has someone from interpol on him. This is the scene after the interpol people tell his wife what that he smuggles weapons. After some chitchat and wordslinging, it gets down to this:
[Cage] There is NOTHING ILLEGAL about WHAT I DO!!
[Wife] I don't CARE if it's illegal it's WRONG!
[Wife] I may have failed as an artist, and I think I even feel my beauty is beginning to fail me too... but I will not fail at being a human.
In 40 years from now, when a small and clumsy start-up sets the de facto standard for operating systems, and Microsoft is no more after they failed to embrace Internet5, and the google execs having given up on google ("We're rich, who cares!"), I expect dvorak to speak again -- whether alive or after waking up from his grave for it, to give us one final message
Comming soon, nanite insects that "Repair" damaged organs or tissue...Yeah Repair
Please tell those aliens we've been doing this for thousands of years already.
At Microsoft, I've had access to the source code for Halo 1 & 2, Internet Explorer, MDAC, MSXML, the.NET Frameworks and CLR, SQL Server, SQLXML, Virtual PC, Visual Studio, Windows, the Xbox and Xbox Live, and probably several other projects that I've forgotten about. Does it get better than this?
I can't help but wonder how many software development companies would still hire him after that, at fear of lawsuits.
I usually sell my older computers with the HDs cleaned. I do not want yet another license. I already have one. I want my computers without Windows, and without the license fee. If a computer company can't comply with that, tough for them, I'll move to the next one.
Oh, and what fud. "Not including Windows might be unhealthy for your company, you know... things might happen...". Tsh.
I download music from the internet quite frequently, if I like the song I have downloaded I will usually buy the album if I don't like it I delete it
I used to do this, years ago. For the past years I've goten up on music completely. They're welcome to keep shooting themselves in the foot for all I care, as long as they stay the hell away from me, my friends, and my family. OR ELSE I SWEAR I WILL RIP T--
Sec, there's a knock on my door...
Somewhere along time, the line went smudgy and went from solid black to a shade of gray. I seem to recall buying cd's in the past, and I could do with it what I wanted. Not it's more like you're licensing the music under a very specific, extremely limited license. No thanks; I'll pass...
Yeah. Well, I haven't bought music in years, and the RIAA and friends make me annoyed enough not to buy any music at all. I have a radio to which I can freely listen, and one of my favourite stations has a website on which they stream, too. Sure, they have to pay their royalties and whatnot too, but at least it isn't directly coming out of my pocket.

The solution is easy... Canada should go on strike! To get more! More money! Like like, Internet money! Yeah that's it!
Pf, just wait until we respawn in the second round.
Secrets! Naughty little secrets! I'll rip the secrets from your flesh! Aaahahaha!!
*cough*
Nice day, eh? Yup, nice day...

I doubt you'll get any clear answer on that exactly because of the whole censoring thing.
"I'm sorry, we're not allowed to discuss that" *knock on the door*

If Beta 3 is out, that usually means Beta 2 is out. Geez, stop worrying...

Heh-heh... can't wait!

No thanks -- I think I'll pass.
And the number of birds the laser fries from start to finish.
Can't wait for it to start raining crispy and fried birds.
They should just use double ROT13, then. It would double its processing capacity!

at which point all life on earth will drown in a sea of litigation. A shame we already beat them to it.

I think he covered that in 5.
Though, you'd expect the sun to be able to fry an egg faster than that. I feel like I misread something somewhere, though...
Yeah. Bunch of amateurs.
:P

Time to fuck the RIAA up. They fuck us over plenty as it is. -1 Flamebait probably but I had to get that out.
I'm having flashbacks of Enserric from NWN HotU.
I vote we all give him his medication. In the same week. ;)
