  1. Re:once again... on Significant FBI Abuses of the Patriot Act · · Score: 1

Cut taxes? You can do that? Up in Canada the government kinda decides for themselves what the tax level is. We can't just decide "you know what, the gov't is intruding my privacy a littly too much, I think I'm going to pay them only half as much as last time". Well we could, but we'd go to prison.

And in reality the guys who are invading your privacy are pretty much the same guys that are charging you taxes, so I don't see how you could get taxes cut but not be able to stop the FBI abuse the Patriot Act.

And I sure as hell don't see me or anyone else on the planet except for some status quo pushing ultra-conservatives (and politicians, of course) arguing for tax increases, so I don't think "people asking for tax increases" is the problem. I don't know... maybe a lot of people do want tax increases? I don't keep up with politics, it just seems to be a very illogical wish from a citizen's point of view.

Well, it differs. In the animated series, didn't Dr. Connor invent the web stuff? And in the movie the stuff was natural. But no one's denying Spidey is smart. Both Batman and spiderman are exceedingly intelligent, with Spiderman keeping his brain sharp with college studies and Batman frequently combating the Riddler.

Batman has more money (and therefore gadgets), but Spiderman has more supernatural powers (Batman has none AFAIK). It's very close, but Batman is more serious so I'll pick him. I think Batarangs would be pivotal to the battle.

I sitll think it's unfair that Superman could probably outrun the Flash. I mean, c'mon, he only has one power, can't he be better at that one thing?

Here's a plan that I've hear Nintendo state twice (once at E3 and the other at TGS I think) but never seen actually reported on any sites:

They say that there are so many individuals with ideas that can't play on those ideas becasue they don't have the money. So Nintendo plans to fund those companies to make games for Revolution.

I think it's a great idea because indie companies will have a chance to make awesome games, and it'll help Nintendo with Revo sales (and possible payback in the game does well enough). My question is will they really do it?

I love how you take the Virtual Boy to argue that Nintendo hasn't changed anything. Let's see what they've done so far:
    • Almost single-handedly ressurected the video game market
    • Made an analog thumbstick standard (which is a bad thing, but hey, they did it.)
    • Cornered the portable market for a really long time.
    • Made rumbling conrtollers standard.
    • Made the first good wireless controller (soon-to-be standard).
    • OMG they made the Virtual Boy new ideas suck.

This new controller is very good. You can move in 3 dimensional space with one hand. Hell, I want to use this thing for web browsing on a TV, let alone video games. Everything about it screams "the controller you are currently using is outdated".

I mean, you might say that's a strong statement. "Hey Headcase, you haven't even played with it, how you can tell it's any good?". Because, like anyone else, I have an imagination, and I've thought of every single game I've loved in the past 20 years and very few wouldn't be better with this controller, and genres I hate (RTS, FPS, sports) are the ones that'll benefit most, assuming the right companies get involved with this thing (and that's a big assumption).

Maybe you don't like this controller, but you have to admit it opens a lot more doors than the other two consoles, which are pretty much the exact same as their old consoles. Honestly, any new doors opening for game developers with the PS3 or 360? "Yeah we can make trees look real nice now". Really looking forward to it.

Oh I hate this argument so much. It's theft, ok? I make a song and decide to charge money for it and someone downloads it without paying, I should hope that's considered theft.

I'm a thief, you're a thief, lots of us are thieves. Does it make us worse people? I don't think so, but yes, it is theft. Don't take music for free that took money to create and tell me it's not theft, because I'm damn sick of that. It's a product on the market, you're taking it for free, and despite any legal definition, in reality it is theft.

I'm not even going to say that it's my opinion, it's just common sense. Wikipedia's definition: "Theft (also known as stealing) is in general, the wrongful taking of someone else's property without that person's willful consent." The song is my property, and if you take it for free you're taking it without my consent. Case closed. It's theft.

The only exception is if the owner of the song (not neccessarily the original artist(s), they might have sold their work) say that their song is free. That's obvious consent. Any distinction between "property" and "intellectual property" is bullshit (ok, I'll say that's my opinion, but I feel pretty strongly about it).

But sure, if you want to call it "copyright infringement" to feel better about yourself, then by all means go right ahead. You're not the common thief who steals stuff from department stores, you're a "copyright infringer" who downloads music you wouldn't have bought anyway. And that makes you a better person.
