Blockading a public place would interfere with the liberties of people who might not care what you think, and want access to that public place. Once you start physically interfering with people like that, it's not a matter of freedom of speech.

That being said, you should be able to say whatever you want, be it neo-nazi stuff or whatever questionable material like that, be it over the Internet or whatever else... just so long as it isn't interfering with someone who choose to ignore you, and just so long you're not doing so on the property of someone who disapproves; it's their property, they set the rules for that property. That's the beauty of the Internet... no one really "owns" it (yet).

If you say fire in a theatre, you're interfering with other people's liberties since it'll lead to an evacuation or whatever else, or at the very least, a disruption; you're not supposed to say anything in a theatre because you'll interfere with the show.

On top of this, the remote control shape just makes sense; it's easy to point with. Try pointing a current-gen controller around, you won't get very far. Why are remote controls shaped the way they are? Because that's the best way to design a one-handed controller. (Of course the Revolution controller is smaller than most remotes for what should be obvious reasons).

Arcades don't use d-pads because they don't use controllers because a handheld controller would either have wiring that is too stringy and would be broken by reckless players or too strong, which is awkward (try playing console games at a game store and you'll see what I mean).

I think the real issue here is that all 3 consoles only have one main controller design (the XBox has two, but they're quite similar fundamentally, one is just less atrocious than the other). Why can't Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft offer a few radically different designs for different players? Why would someone such as yourself have to go on the internet to get an arcade-like controller witha joystick? Why aren't quality companies selling this stuff in stores?

The reason Halo 2 wasn't up to par is that they were probably working on Halo 3 before Halo 2 was finished. Keep in mind that I'm not saying whether Halo 3 will be bad, good, or indifferent, just pointing something out.

And, for what it's worth (2 cents?), I don't like this shit with video games. Bungie (and every other company) should be giving every single game everything they've got. No unneccessary planning for sequels ahead of time. Bungie probably had all sorts of great ideas for storyline, items, etc (for Halo 2). and just went "half of this will be good for Halo 3". Unacceptable.

The exact same thing happened with the Matrix. They made one awesome movie (equivalent to Halo 1) , and decided ahead of time to make not one, but two sequels. And what happened there? It was one movie divided into two parts (Reloaded and Revolutions). If those two movies were one movie (with the boring shit cut out, did we really need to spend so much time watching Zion getting invaded? Yawn.), it might have been just as awesome as the first. I'm not saying Halo 3 is doomed, but please don't buy an X360 without playing it yourself for a reasonable amount of time first.

    SNES > GameCube > Dual Shock > NES > N64 >> XBox-s >>>> Xbox

SNES: Small and confortable, pretty simple but has enough buttons.

Gamecube: Big A button gives easy access to both B and Y buttons without having to move your thumb much. Comfy overall and I like the little C-stick.

Dual Shock: The sticks are a unconfortable for me, but the digital pad is great for most games and the layout is easy to understand.

N64: I didn't like how most games forced use of the stick, making the third prong annoying deadweight. The sticks wore out pretty badly after a while.

XBox S: A bit big, I don't really like how the triggers are behind the controller, it interferes with how I grip the controller. The buttons are way too small and bulbous for me.

XBox: Before the Xbox launch, Ed Fries (or someone else form MS) said "this controller tested perfectly in focus groups and we're not going to change it or make another one" or something similar. It's seriously one of the reasons I leaned away from the XBox (which was a good decision because since launch the console has been offering great games in genres I don't like).

I fully agree with this statement. We haven't had a good puzzle game for 7 years until Lumines came out for the PSP. Hello? The PS2 could have supported Lumines years ago (and surely now), but no, Sony takes the great game and uses it as a tool to sell PSPs. I hate it.

Why can't "old" genres be on home consoles (outside of a Game Boy Advance Player)? Viewtiful Joe is not a 2d game just because the action takes place on a 2d plane. Even the so called "New Super Mario Bros." looks 3D from what I've seen (graphics-wise). What's the point if all the gameplay is flat?

I remember someone from Gamespot saying (a long time ago, I'm not looking for a link here) that if a company actually put a lot of time and money into making a good 2d side scroller with 2d graphics for a home console, it'd probably look better than the 3d stuff out there. The resolution, lighting, framerate, etc would be amazing since the console wouldn't have any 3 dimensional polygons to draw. Think about all the crazy stuff they could throw in there without having to process all of it in 3 dimensions. It'd probably be a fun game, too bad it'll never happen.

Riding that Deku Leaf, hiding from guards, lots of good mini-games. Beautiful game.

I'll accept the apology for the triforce treasure hunt though. *yawn*. And to tell the truth some of those side-islands could have been a little more involving. What a shame. I was hoping that Nintendo would push the Gamecube to have a long lifecycle, perhaps coexisting with the Revolution. Ergo, I was excited to see that Sony was planning that with the PS2. Except it's really the PS3 and the headline is wrong.

Slating a 10-year life cycle so early doesn't really guarantee much. If anything, it sounds like hype. "Yes, this console will be so good it won't be obsolete (power-wise) for 10 years". Uh, Sony, breakthroughs are going to happen between now and then, and you guys will be the first to want to capitilize on them.

So I think Sony will change their mind, and in a few years, someone from Sony will be saying, "The PS4 will be released next year, will be 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 more powerful than the PS3 [or if you prefer, 1X10^60], and [of course] it will have a life cycle of 10 years.".

Because the real fun comes from seeing how fast your console can render real-time dynamic high-resolution shadows.

That said, EA and whoever else is considering this should note that there's a lot of overlap between gamers and people who hate commercials, more than they might expect. Best case scenario, EA decides to put full-motion ads in all their games, gamers boycott, and EA goes bankrupt. Like that'll happen.
