I found it EXTREMELY hard to learn programming before algebra (though I tried). Basic (6th grade) math needs to be there before the functions can really be taught.
ISPs without comptetion(like mine in most areas) have no reason to do anything. Last 2 weeks, we had an "intermittant service outage" that left our connection nearly unusable. It was all we could do to get it up long enough to check email at times. They sent people to fix it, who just came and left a note saying we weren't home, and we needed to reschedule, without ever wringing the doorbell. Eventually I trapped one of them by opening the door for them, and they gave us the replacement modem (all they had to do).
This was supposed to be modded as funny. I am extremely dissapointed in these moderators. They missed an obvious Life of Brian (Monty Python film). This is completely unacceptable behaviour, and all mods who particpated in this should be decapited, or (even worse) banned from slashdot.
How would you feel if this law is enacted, and a game that takes a political stand is made so that less people can buy it, would you consider that censorship?
See, once the government starts down a slippery road, its hard for them to not go down a spur off that road.
I think there are a good number of people (me included) who are against any sort of government censorship at all. First it might be some kids San Andreas, but then it might be somebody's copy of 1984. We should have a cut-and-dried no censorship by the government policy. If a parent truly feels that their kid shouldn't be exposed to something, the should deal with it themselves, not force everyone else to follow their rules of "perfect" parentig.
As a high school student, this is the best I can come up with. However, make sure its advertised as a Security program. Perfect setup: 2 teams, one of security, one of attackers.
First hour: Give them a basic introduction to security.
Hours 2-4: Setup for security (they need to have certain services provided) and plan of attack and tool creation/search for the attackers.
Hour 5: The big finale, the two teams face off, with the security personell allowed to make changes in settings to try to defend their system(s). Attackers win by getting administrative rights. Security wins by holding the sharks off for an hour.
End: Go over what happened. And give a stern warning that taking over systems that don't belong to you is illegal.
This is a perfect 6 hour thing, and will draw a large crowd, and no one will leave dissapointed.
Personally I prefer the Madden 2002 cover over all the rest. However, the startup screen is far superior on the 2003. So I keep the 2003 in a 2002 case.
At my school, the only executables that can be run are on a hidden network drive (you can't get to it in windows explorer). This is a windows XP environment, and is nearly useless because of this. And we aren't allowed to have CDs or floppy drives (most computers don't have them).
Their 2003 switch to linux was a desperate last ditch attempt to save them from their impending doom. Just check out Netcraft.
Their switch is now catching up to them. They can only really afford the cheaper windows, because the TCO of linux is humoungous. Don't get me started on that Piece of Shit apache thing. Look at: THE TRUTH for more information.
Ive flown in a friends plane before, left it on, and even recieved calls while in the air. That was with a cell-phone calling back and forth inside the cockpit. The only weird thing that happened was that we could hear the ringing inside of the intercom.
Just ship it overnight to across the country, to one of your friends, go over to a neighbors, for the night, and have them imeddiatly ship it back to you overnight.
That should demonstrate how stupid the whole idea is.
Theres a major flaw in your logic.
The examples you used do not equate to the example in the parent.
I know nothing about building. If I needed an extension built, or a wall knocked through, or whatever, I'd go to a builder. Am I dumb now?
That should read:
I know nothing about building. If I needed an extensin built, or wall knocked through, or whatever, Id just try to do it myself as best as I could. Am I dumb now?
This could be done for any of your examples. The problem is, that people who know absolutely nothing about a subject, should seek proffesional assistance.

So it looks like lots of "ISPs" will be set up there. If you have three users dail-in occasionally, you are an ISP, and therefore are immune.
What about non-porus surface don't you understand?
Except for Islands. No way are you getting everyone off the west side of manhattan and far away in 10 hours.

Anyone else read this as Microsoft acquires spyware company?

That isn't funny. Thats like saying: So basicly Microsoft released a rebranded Wordperfect. Things like this happen. And I hate it.

How do fit that all in? Im about 10th in my class right now, and Im still only getting in around 3 hours a day of gaming.
Delete parent. We don't want *THEM* to read this.
Its MUCH harder to pose as someone else through AIM than via email.
This is an extreme stretch of skillset for the typical slashdot reader.
MY wireless mouse DOES have wires, and yes they are annoying, and no Im not making this up.
Nope, they are hanging on his every word, but refuse to admit it to the public.
Or at least so they only have to walk one way: Paradrop them in there.
