Ah, thanks... I guess one could also license it under "the latest version of the GPL" if one wanted..
Older versions?

Will programs under the older versions of the license automatically fall under v3, or will the author have to explicitly state that? The license isn't very clear (at least not to my non-lawyerish eyes).
This applies not only to the computer newbie, but also to experienced users. I use Windows XP but I want to dual-boot to Linux for various obvious reasons. Installing Linux on the same HDD as Windows is too risky (I have tried it before two or three times, and I had to repair windows and reinstall the service packs before they would boot). LiveCDs aren't really a good solution if you want to use Linux as your (even secondary) OS, because saving data is not as practical and they take more to load. Virtualisation is a better alternative, although it is still a bit slower than the real thing and graphics aren't supported so well... What's a man to do?
There is no real reason (well, apart from making you go back to the store where you have to pay an extra $13, and it's not like you can avoid it) why these cameras have to be disposable. You can delete and record again, it's a memory. One can argue that it's the same with disposable cameras, but at least in those you actually ran out of film... This one has no mechanical parts to switch or run out of or anything.
In case those mirrors go down...

of this article is not that drunken drivers' charges were dropped, but if people should be prosecuted because a black box (whose function you don't know) said you're guilty. I could build something with a green and a red LED, and have only the red LED light up, meaning that you were guilty of whatever crime someone wanted, would that mean that you broke a law?
GPL violators are charging for something they got for free. Torrent pirates give for free something they paid for (probably). It's making money off someone else's trouble vs not paying someone for their trouble. Not quite the same.
So, I downloaded the Sysinternals BSOD screen saver (emulates a BSOD). I remember thinking that it didn't work, because I had tried it before and some error I don't remember occurred. I tried it again, and, sure enough. My PC BSOD'ed. I was like, wtf, how can a screensaver BSOD, it's not like it needs access to low-level hardware or anything. I sigh and reset the PC. While it was rebooting, a peculiar thought started forming in my mind. My... BSOD... screen saver... BSOD'ed... I can't believe I didn't think of that earlier. Next time I ran it I just pressed a key and it went back to windows:P
Is the market really shifting, or are companies trying to shift it themselves because the software market is more saturated than it used to? Half-life 2 comes to mind, which is a good marketed as a service...
Btw, this is not a troll.
That is frighteningly true. I made a program a while ago that tunnels a connection to another server while relaying the incoming stream to other users (a sort of MUD TV, called snoop, download it at www.poromenos.org), and I was amazed at the amount of questions I got about what I thought was self-explanatory. I ended up making an installation program with an option to install the settings for the MUD as default, because noone would use it otherwise (well, not without asking me dozens of questions about what the "remote server" should be).
Why is it that whenever there's a post about Google everyone keeps looking for flaws that will make them "the next Microsoft"? I'm not referring to the article mention of ads, but whenever we hear something "corporationy" about Google, we always go "ooo, there we go, EEEEVIL". I'm not saying they're saints, but yeah, I get all that free high-quality stuff from Google and I like them. When (if) they start doing evil things, then I'll see about blaming them.

do we need yet another music provider?
As you yourself said, competition is good for the consumer.
so those songs can be played on devices other than an iPod.
But only once...

3 MHz? That poor server was /.ed before the article was even posted :P
So I will be able to google for my keys? I always seem to misplace them...

And from this article we learn what, that google has a feedback facility?
I use windows to watch porn. You AIN'T SEEN more passion than that!

I bet you're glad you memorised Google's IP now, aren't you!
It is, that's why several sites are banning clients that use this.
Maybe they got the Vogon captain to rewrite the script?
43, with a margin of error of +-1.

who needs DNS anyway?
:)
People using name-based virtual hosting for HTTP
I have the solution right here!
name.120.45.15.23. There, all solved!
Bah, who needs DNS anyway? Real hackers memorize IP addresses! All you need to know is 216.239.57.99, really.

Fortunately for you, someone else has already taken the time to understand you.
Yesss, I am one step closer to getting laid!
