I welcome Nintendo's new console, it's not just about the fine detail or how many poly's the gpu can process per second... it's about game innovation, and Nintendo has always had well branded games that kids like. I've been impressed with some of the games on the Gamecube, even if it is slower than hell by spec. The fact is they have good selection of games kids love to play, and even some of us older folks. I currently own an XBox 360, PS2, and a Gamecube. My kids play the gamecube more than the others because they enjoy the games more.
I have installed the eEye patch and it does fix the IE ActiveScript hole temporarily, however it is recommended to disable Active Scripting anyways. Now, it is still undetermined how serious this threat actually is, or if it's a big marketing opportunity for eEye's products. I'll assume the former until further notice.
The number #1 solution is to simply not use IE.
Remember the good ol' days when we didn't have these little boxes tied to our hip all day, when no one could get ahold of you when you weren't home or at work? Ah life was good then. Now people just get mad when I don't answer the phone because they neglected to call from a number I know, or expect like I have nothing better to do than take their call.
Phones suck.
now if only they knew how to make drivers
on
ATI's 1GB Video Card

sounds great and all, but have they gotten around to paying their own programmers to make drivers that actually work, and install off the CD it comes with, instead of outsourcing it to a few guys in their basement?
Seriously, I've owned 6 different ATI cards of differing lines this year, and only 2 of them installed properly with the drivers that came on the CD. That just aint right.
I think anyone who actually gets caught up in, or gives a damn what Bill was doodling on paper is seriously in need of something real to do. Besides, we all know Bill really uses MS Paint to do his doodling.
Not illegal whatsoever. You can be assured Google is counting unique hits, which means unless your IP has changed, clicking on it a million times won't do a thing. Maybe google simply has to improve its tracking technology. Or maybe they are referring to some advertisers forcing people to click on the links without them even knowing it (through various server side scripting and javascript scripts). They should be able to tell how many times a certain website has shown the ad, and how many people have clicked on it. Why can't they avoid this through proper tracking systems like the rest of the advertising world on the Internet?
ICANN *should* do something, but I'm afraid they won't. What would be interesting, is get the popular popup blockers to also block domains that don't have any real information, such as Domain Parked websites, domains for sale messages, etc and get rid of all the damn traffic they grab by parking the domains.
Or go back to making domains $150 a registration, instead of 6 bucks (maybe opening up registration to everyone was a _bad_ move). I would certainly think twice about registering 100 domains at $150 each, but 6 bucks?
I've worked as a programmer and web developer in a demanding work environment for 7 years. It does take a toll on family life, but part of it isnt just demands placed on me by a corporation, part of it is the love of the job, getting a sense of accomplishment when I complete a demanding project, its a good feeling. Yes, other people suffer because I work too much, but the blame isn't just on the company I work for. With this profession, comes a love for your work, a feeling of accomplishment, and the extra rewards of knowledge.
Blame can be put on the programmers, as or more so than the companies that require these positions.
I think Homer and Peter from Family guy should get together on a bender. That alone would make a hella movie. :)
pwned.

I'm informative.

and to think, I thought it was all due to my collection of Lord of the Rings action figures.
I wonder how much of my email the government will subpoena Google for?
I for one welcome my Email overloards.
books are them things made outta paper right? I heard about them in computer class.
If you think education is expensive, you should try ignorance! (amazing how one different character makes this sentance much more effective)
...that a search for "show me the money" does NOT come up with stock results for Google. Who woulda figured.
"limited resource computing device" hahahahah, you mean Windows?

this whole topic is l33t. We all know that the real reason North Korea is trying to hack the US is because they want access to free pr0n.

If your going to /. a link somewhere, make sure its hosted on a static page at least.
this is great technology being put to use, simple and inexpensive. I for one look forward to picking up a lightscribe burner!
My bet is on Hilary. I hear she's on the roids and is gonna bite Arnold's ear off.

This is great news for my new sunblock AKA crude oil in a can.

obviously you aren't using the Internet for commercial purposes, because there is a huge difference.
