I must agree. the "email" search is a little weak. Wheres the "Did You mean.....?"
For an example, There was an email from ebay.. an invoice... It contained "Invoice" right in the subject line along with "ebay" it was not tagged spam. But anyways I searched "Ebay" with the email being tagged as a result, but searching "Invoice" - resulted with no hits... Google is very powerful when it comes to searches, so why limit it with emails?
EMAIL Is Just that EMAIL. And the system is stressed to hell. I had a client of mine attempt to attach a 500 meg file an email.. Wtf.. I asked him if he would put a postage stamp on a brick and mail it... and quite didnt understand.
Email should be left to its "mail" - dont start adding layers to something that was never meant to be.
Sony does have/had some pretty cool shit. (too bad all failed) Why? - Because they try to force it down our throats. DId they actually think that the psp would actually carry the umd format? Cmon.. It takes millions to negotiate with other movie companies to release it on "your format", and what did they gain? a movie that can ONLY be played on THEIR unit... Dont think so, I have a $15 apex that does that for me on my tv. Where the hell is the VIDEO OUT on the psp? Devices work when they are able to replace something. Its not even about the format war beta/vhs etc... Its about usage.
Samething for the Minidisc... Nifty Sure, a trend setter, maybe, if it was cheaper. Can I stick it in my current player... NO.. So it doesnt replace anythig it just adds to the damn clutter we already have.
Another Example that worked, is the "Walkman(tm?)". Why did it work? Because You were able to use your EXISTING "media"
As for flash... Its smaller.. We like small... But why did they take so long to match price levels with CF? Pretty Much USELESS unless you owned a Sony Product... (other vendors are slowly adding support for their flash stuff)
And now back to this BlueRay/HD DVD... Show us a product that will not add weight to our entertainement centers, show us something that is able to REPLACE something. Stop bickering and for gods sake start listening to YOUR consumers.

Swinging offtopic a bit, Everyone is pushing the whole "HIGH Definition" Thing. I jumped on the bandwagon.. I got a somewhat small 32 lcd... Nothing Fancy, But For what I paid for it VS what i get from it, does not Balance out... SURE, I get the 20 or so Channels that are HD, but Did it REPLACE anything? DId It Justify The cost? Sony Are YOU LISTENING??? JUSTIFY THE COST!

Microsoft being a developer, vendor..... By bundling Products they Developed (through acquisitions or what ever) Whats the Harm? Why isnt everyone chasing Apple for "bundling" Safari? No one said you HAVE to use Safari Or IE. Same applies to the ANTI(fill in the blank). IF someone has a product that is superior bring it on. Maybe a total solution to his bundling is - "We've installed Product X - But here are links to some other Products You might need/enjoy etc" Isnt that what Microsoft was doing when you clicked the original "Connect to the internet" icon? - Partnered with various isps. Maybe I'm missing the point, and im sure someone will Flame me all to hell for it.

I run a tiny web host biz (150 or so domains).. Our Clients INSIST on spam filtering.. We're not an ISP... I could say "Heres Spam Assasin" deal with it, but, it doesnt work in the real world. We have to deal with the spam. Why would anyaone give out their primary email address on a form anyways?

I get my work frustrations out with gaming. During the last 14 days, I came to the conclusion that gaming on the PC is "for more expandable then any console" but The maintenance involved is just not worth it. It SHOULD just work(tm?) I deal with machines problems at work, nothing fancy just your usual monkey help desk. So in theory, You just reformatted your pc, reinstalled windows, and started the painful restoration. (blockers) virus,spam,firewalls,blah blah blah. Once that is completed, you begin to reinstall your game lineups. And if you're a gamer, you got 10+ titles . Within a week you begin to feel a "sluggish" response. You click on the Yellow Shield in your task bar, and get the latest critical updates. Couple days later, your game begins to stutter. Even tho You/I took ALL the precautions, Not running IE,using (virus/spam) scanners etc etc... Within 2 months your Gaming RIG is now crawling. Drink a 12 pack, and back Step 1. Am I wrong in saying IF YOU ARE a daily, heavy windows users (downloading, running various apps, gaming) Your WINDOWS machine has about a 1 year lifespan before some thing critical begins to happen. Whats my point? I packed up my PC and got a console. It just works. Now, for the conclusion, since im sure you're already sick of reading this, and are preparing to mod me down, What if i had a so called MEDIA PC. TONS AND TONS of crap, movies, music etc etc. DO you actually think that user is going to backup 250-500 megs of shit? Do you really think that windows based machine will run smoothly? When will the next life saving critical patch come out and screach your system to a hault?
For a media PC to work, it has to have uptime reliability. One of my web severs has been up for over 2 years. No, it doesnt run windows. This whole Microsoft Media PC is just a marketing ploy. Sure it works out of the box... but for how long?

(other studios) Price Structures are very difficult to change. Especially when it seems to be "a standard"
To throw some oil into the water so to speak, in order to download A MOVIE... Youre talking about 2-3 hours for high quality... (your really think they'll use a fancy codec (xvid etc etc?) Thats 2 hours too long as your nearest blockbuster/walmart,bestbuy is 30 min away at the most, and you can take your family out for ice cream:)
Theres ALOT at stake here. They have a HUGE piracy issue at hands, the wood they are throwing onto the fire better be wet.
With Digital Cable - Dominating in my area, all these PVRs are "useless" (for the typical home user) . TWC in my area mirrors EVERY single analog channel on to their digital tier. Channel 4 - 804 Channel 9 - 809 etc etc. They are also limiting HBO (no longer available on ANALOG) - they require you to get a dig box. So Untill CableCard support is implemented, its just a waste of time, no?. (Again TWC in my area Leases CableCards for 1.95/month each. (if i recall corretly). I DONT work for them. They also offer a DUAL Tunner DVR for $9 (cheaper then tivo - digital support etc) ITS NOT A TIVO... not even close, but it works great for your DVR functions. Ofcourse if you want to start throwing in the aspect of DRM,Ripping,and streaming correct, its not possible... But its a dvr. Records 2 Channels while playing back a 3rd.
For Discussion sake, when Analog goes away, so do these homebrew pvrs? As on the MINI's theres no ROOM to stick a CableCard reader?
Again, Just my 2 cents... Worth the investment for 1/2 TV? (no dig) - You can Loop it through your DIG box, but you loose some cool aspects of direct feeds, slow channel turning etc etc. no?

I also Dabble with Linux on my Home machine Its an OLD mac.. struggling at 300mhz. I installed YELLOWDOG a distro, that was desgined for the PPC.. yea right... Jumping through hoops just to get the MAC Volume controls on the keyboard to work. I tried Ubuntu next, EVERYTHING worked out of the box, volume, eject all flawless. I'm struggling with Flash Plugins as MAcromedia forgot about PPC binaries/sources:) I will be waiting patiently for automatix PPC to be released...
