There has been ALOT of hype about 3G... We all (well most of us) own a cellphone. There has been numerous polls relating to consumers watching TV/streams on their phones... and most are not interested (its too late at night to dig those polls up). IMHO its a waste of bandwidth. Instead of offering ESPN live feeds (a dull "yay") pass that bandwidth so its actually useable.. I'm forced to use a sierra cord on the road.. (verizon) and the speeds are just... not there.. more like a typical dial up connection (tops out at 128kbs).. Everyone swears WIFI is the shit.. sure if you like being strapped to a starbucks table. Open that bandwidth up to your consumers who live on the road, if i want to watch TV/streams, ill do it through my data cable...

This can cause some interestig backlash... Yeah, sure youre in class to "learn", but 30+ wifi enabled laptops (?) in one area could be very interesting, especially with "Vistas" automatic peer-peer networkworking, throw in a LAN/PEER torrent seed locator... hmmmm

Dont blame technology, isps,blogs etc etc... Dont load up a "keyword filter" and release your kids on the net... Wake Up. The net can be a wonderful tool... And ofcourse it can be a source of corruption. (Kids/yound teens) love the corruption....

IF upgrades are needed (not considering educational discounts) Windows Home: 89$ throw in the hardware upgrades and it sounds expensive (since some are still running 95). It sounds ALOT easier then done. Wouldnt it be alot easier and maybe even cheaper to jump on the bang wagon with the $399 dells? (with monitor) - they're like what... $300 after rebates?.. Windows preloaded.... I'm, sure dell throws in a crappy printer and youre "good to go". No retrainig, no hardware upgrades. Sometimes you just cant avoid spending some money. UNLESS you're a linux guru, have a blast, but assuming youre just "comfortable" as you asked the geeks for advice.

We're in the DVR market. Purpose of a Security DVR is only one - to record / archive / stream video. Not to run windows in the backround. You will NOT find a more solid device then Dedicate micros sprite... We have numerous of clients who still run 1st generation recorder (4+) years with no headaches.

The Open Sourced version is a little hectic to setup as it does not contain an administrative backend, so most of of the work is done through the command line... which is a small price to pay if you compare what is costs for MS Exchange.
