  1. If so what instead? on Is OLED TV Technology In Jeopardy? · · Score: 1

    I'm sick of backlit LCDs.
    CNT and Diamond tech seems to have vanished from the news completely.

    OLED is/was nice but a thin display without native rez, and CRT colour quality is still my dream, and they were promised what, 7 years ago now?

    I don't mind if they want to drop OLED as long as they're going to be ramping up production on something better hard and fast instead of squeezing the life out of LED. LED is ok as it got cheap, but it is not great technology for a lot of uses.

    As pointed out in earlier comments, it's much more accessible to partially sighted people, you can't change the text size on a book, you can with a kindle, and some of them are "legally blind" but can still read very large text close up.

    And anyway, navigations problems for those with worse/no sight could likely be sorted out in an update, and/or coupling it to a brail reader maybe. Also things you can't do with a book.

    However, in Pinch Media's case, the user tracking goes a bit further according to one iPhone developer. He says applications using Pinch Media track the following information:

            * iPhone's unique ID
            * iPhone model
            * OS version
            * Application version (in this case, camera zoom 1.x)
            * If the application is cracked/pirated
            * If your iPhone is jailbroken
            * Time & date you start the application
            * Time & date you close the application
            * Your current latitude & longitude
            * Your gender (if Facebook enabled)
            * Your birth month (if Facebook enabled)
            * Your birth year (if Facebook enabled)

    What's worse is that you're often never told that the app will be performing this level of detailed tracking and you're often never given the opportunity to opt-out. The data recorded is continuously tracked every time you use the application. This violation of user privacy is so egregious that the developer even goes so far as to call Pinch Media "iPhone spyware."
