Easy answer: they might, but you'll never find out about it. The number of attemped hacks would increase a hundredfold, as ambitious hackers try to get hired. If what you suggest does happen, it'll only ever happen behind closed doors.
Cybersquatting is a growing problem for brands around the world and we hope to educate other brand holders and encourage them to take action," said Aaron Kornblum, senior attorney on Microsoft's internet safety enforcement team.

Not at all. It's generally agreed that historically, piracy has helped M$. They just seem to be trying to direct the process more these days.
WGA is a tool to tap this 'new' marketing channel. You want the latest DirectX redist/IE/WMP? Oh dear, you don't seem to be legit, here's an ad for you, you're missing out you know, and look at all these other benefits...
Most won't buy, some will, and it'll irritate quite a few people, but that's the nature of marketing.
From the Daily Mail article: "More significantly, we had the details which would allow a fraudster, people trafficker or illegal immigrant* to set up a new life in Britain. The criminal could open a bank account, claim state benefits and undertake a myriad financial and legal transactions in someone else's name. "
So basically, exactly what goes on now, except for the new false sense of security. Great!
Sony rolled a PS2 online adapter in late 2002 to compete with Microsoft, with several online first party titles released alongside it, such as SOCOM US Navy SEALS to show its active support for Internet play. Sony also advertised heavily, and its online model had the advantage of being supported by Electronic Arts.

Hmm, you make an interesting point. Ever notice that when you run one of these expensive security suites and you don't get any meaningful results, you always get a couple of "dangerous" cookies found, just to keep the results above zero?
The logic must be: Don't tell them it's clean. Use fud if necessary.
Every year, US-Cert produces huge fireworks in the security trade press with their annual summary of misinformation about security flaws. [...] The summary gives a total for flaws found in Windows and another total for flaws found in Unix and Linux. Last year, those totals were 812 for Windows and 2,312 for Unix/Linux.
Oh ****! Quick, someone tell me how to upgrade to this "Windows" thing!
Even if pre-NT OSs are not supported in the future, legacy versions of Firefox will be still be useful to people using old OSs.
Imagine the scenario.. for work, you are stuck on a Win98 PC, PII 333 Mhz. Yes, there is quite a few workplaces that still use kit like this. For the sake of argument, and website limitations aside, let's say you have the choice of Firefox 1.0.x or MSIE 5.5.
First they chipped the products,

Then they chipped me,

Good point, well made. It must be terrible living in a country with only consumer goods, felons and immigrants for company.

I don't think this is necessarily true.. if I didn't have to work, and had a complete life of leisure, I wouldn't be happy. I'd need to do work of one form or another. It would definitely be something I enjoyed (no doubt for bad/average pay - enjoyable jobs seem to have that kind of relationship). I may be in the minority here, but, you know, a surprising number of people who win the lottery here state the same thing.
Then again, both my parents came into this country (England) from overseas (China, France) so maybe it's the immigrant ethic. Who knows.

When I was in elementary school, I was learning BASIC while playing Atari games like Asteroids, Pong, and Night Rider at the arcade in the mall. Games improved around middle school, Pac-man, Centipede, Galaga, Spy Hunter, Donkey Kong and others were available at the local arcades. At that time my favorite dinner destination was the pizza place

Why don't they just hire him?
Easy answer: they might, but you'll never find out about it. The number of attemped hacks would increase a hundredfold, as ambitious hackers try to get hired. If what you suggest does happen, it'll only ever happen behind closed doors.
