If the school cant afford it, what is the chance that the kids forced to watch the ads can afford the product? The concept is flawed to start with. They should force the kid to write ten lines of sourcecode for every hour they use the system. That would gain them something (Like less buggy software to start with).
That would mean that 75% of computers would not be infected, ergo that 75% of users finally got the clue of protecting their system against virusses and malicious websites. Is 75% running Linux without notifying the nerds? Hey, we nerds run the minority system here! I am switching to MS Windows right now.
I am actually more interested about new game styles than new game console. The WII has added some new possibilities and shows potential, certainly looking more reliable than the camera games on my PS2 (The NIKE game. I am a master in karate according to that game by just flapping my arms up and down, lighting is nearly impossible to get correct, and the distance which you need between camera and screen varies all the time).
Probably the most annoying issue they have with failing hardware, is new versions of the used components, causing incompatility with the old hardware components and the operating system. I imagine they try to keep it running as long as possible by shipping broken machines to a central location and use parts of those to keep the datacenters as coherent as possible. So a setup like one datacenter runs generation-5 years, 2 run generation-4years, 3 run current. This way you can at one moment decide to update a complete datacenter instead of hundreds of machines spread across several datacenters.
The model also produced a single integer as result: 42
Since the scientists could not explain the result, they decided to ignore it for now. One of the scientist was willing to give an anonymous comment: For me it could have been 41 or 43 as result, but I can live with 42 Asking for further explanation, he denied further comments.
Well, 3 step plan to get rich yourself:
1. Buy SCO Stock at 3.80 for all what you got
2. Sell everything at 4.25 and short as much as you can
3. Start over at 1.
I do not know what desktop you run, and which applications, but I can tell you that you might feel happier with more memory. CPU power has not been a big issue for most for years now.
KDE 3.3, eclipse, kmail,,tomcat, mysql database, OpenOffice, Firefox at the same time open with 256 was slightly impossible (-:
They have to retain it for a certain period:
1. Turn on computer A, and indicate you want to sync with computer B
2. Data is copied to googles servers
3. Turn on computer B, and your data automagically appears.
Without the google servers, both systems need to be on all the time, and data retaining issues, as well as another google tool are a non issue.
They could only reach the remote mountainous area by helicopter, which they described it as akin to finding a "Garden of Eden".
Wood logging companies & local farmers have been found willing to provide easier access to the area, as a local farmer said:
I will burn down 5 hectares a month to create new places for my crops. That way tourist will be able to get closer to these pretty animals everyday without having to endanger them (the editor: By them he meant the tourist, because everybody knows that road travel in Indonesia is the safest way to travel) by helicopter.
A loggin company responded too:
2 million years without forest maintenance is not good for tourism. We are willing to trim the trees for easier access.
I used that card, and the Apacer PhotoSteno Pro II, and the apacer scored 50% faster in random use, and about 100% faster in linear read/write actions (dd). Luckily I already used the Apacer before, and noticed the huge difference. Since the apacer has a theoretical speed of ~14MB/s, I really can not believe that the standard Sandisk (2003 model) scores this high in the test.
If temparature in the house below 15C, than heater can be turned on in rooms in use.
If temparature with heater on 18C it is warm enough, keep temperature like that.
Ofcourse no heater on at night or when you are not at home, and my place its gasbill was 75% lower than the 21C everywhere in the 2 room with kitchen appartment people.
What also helps is live in an appartment anyway: Your neighbours do keep your place warmer. I had one place which always was a comfortable 21C without me ever turning on the heater. My neighbours literally paid the heating bill for me.
I design disk backup systems, and use low end disks in it, with sufficient redundancy. I also device ways in it so you do not need so much disk space to go back in time for very prolonged periods (deltas which to the user look like full backups). Mail me, it is always fun to design a new system.
Grin, you just gave me an idea: Windows naming competition. What possible can Microsoft come up with next (and then quicly start a linux distro with that possible name (-: )
Does it run under linux?

Someone had to say it

You were the 3th post, but it was not to be avoided that someone would mention it.
1984 or not, identity mixer is already disturbing enough as an idea. It suggests it helps to mix identities!

Or I just didn't see it: But did they manage to put together Humpty dumpty again?

Keeping the site from being /.ed?
It was within the sarcasm tags on. I have spent 6 weeks in Indonesia, and I am still alive (amazing!)
Sarcasm on

Yep, and if you heat, set limits:

3) Bigger profits!
LOL! Actually: Sad that it becomes this way. Hoping for better times.
Darn, recognized the Ikea couch without reading the text! Got one too (different cover though)
